[QUOTE="Nagidar"]Thats just it, you're not getting "very little" out if it, I have an HDTV (5 of them actually) and I have a Wii along with alot of other systems, so I know what the differences are.

AfterShafter

Poor graphics + high definition = getting little out of high def.

Your talking about the Wii's graphical limitations, not the Wii on a HDTV, there is a difference.

Believe me, I have a Wii and I have played it on a SDTV, there is a pretty noticeable difference.

Nagidar

My Wii is on loan to a guy with an HDTV right now... I chuckle because he did after comparing the difference between his 360 on that hookup compared to my Wii. Low res textures, low poly models, general lacklustre graphics effects... There just ain't that much to see in high definition.

Comparing the Wii to the 360 is a stupid comparison, compare the Wii on a SDTV to the Wii on a HDTV in 480p.

I have. The difference is neglible, and not *anywhere* near worth getting an HDTV for, and more than I would have bothered getting one for my PS2 or XBOX.

I never said the Wii was worth getting a HDTV for, I said there is a difference between the Wii on a SDTV and the Wii on a EDTV/HDTV.  Hell, you have a 360, if anything get a HDTV for that.

Yes there is, but the two are correlated. High definition is good and fine, if there is something nice to see in high definition. There just ain't anything that nice for the Wii so far. It has yet to produce anything that even looked as good as a game like RE4, let alone the stuff on other systems.

No, they are not co-related, you can play GT4 on the PS2 in 1080i but it still looks like crap.  The technical limitations of a console is not the same as a console running on a HDTV.

"I never said the Wii was worth getting a HDTV for"... Which is precisely why I chuckle if I see one hooked up to an HDTV. Oh, I play the 360 on the monitor on the ground. I travel a lot, and I don't even own the 360, though I'm considering buying one when Shivering Isles comes out. For now, I'm a Wii owner... And it sucks on an HDTV.

Yes they are correlated. Poor graphics look poor in high definition. Welcome to the Wii. I'm done arguing anyways. I've seen the Wii in high-def and it did not look very good, much to my shagrin.

It's something PC gamers have known for a long time - putting a game with poor graphics in super high def just shows off better how murky textures are and how sloppy models are, making the benefits rather dubious.  In the final estimation,  a lot of PC gamers I know were playing games like the original Tribes or Mechwarrior 3 in lower definition simply because the textures looked like puke in high definition, and it showed off the bumpy edges on polygons more.

I've showed my setup, and I'm still chuckling at anyone who owns an HDTV for the Wii. Have fun all.

Graphics are a technical limitation, not HD related, does the Wii have the power to run in 720p+, probably, but it won't look nearly as good as a 360 because the Wii is technically limited.

So if someone has a Wii hooked up to a HDTV, you assume they bought it for the Wii? You're not the brightest light bulb in Vegas.

My point exactly. The Wii's technical limitations make it look poor on an HDTV. Hence, I chuckle.

As per your next post, I don't assume that... I just laugh because I'm a prick.

Do you even own an HDTV?

Nope. Play my 360 on a computer monitor in high definition. Don't own any other systems which notably benefit from it. That includes the Wii, which is why I chuckle if someone has a high priced TV with a system on it that really doesn't get jack from it.

GC, Wii and VC games do look better in 480p, then otherwise, I do wish it supported 720p though.

Thats my point, it has nothing to do with HDTV, its the console, they are not related.

Your answer to my last post proves you are either envious of people that have nice equipment because you cannot afford it, or it just makes you feel more manly to "try" to dis other people.

I don't know how you're missing this... You admit to the technical limitations, but say that it has no effect on graphics. I'll say it again, poor quality graphics in high def don't look great. They utterly waste the potential of high definition. That's about it.

Oh it proves that, does it? Would you care to show how the content of my post clearly leads to that conclusion, and that you're not just jumping to a conclusion to support your position based on *extremely* limited evidence?   You conveniently ignore the possibility that *gasp* I'm just stating the truth and that I really have a grudge and ambiguously state how it is proved that I have said grudge.

NO, I SAID, stay with me here, the graphical limitations has little to do with being played on a HDTV, when you play someting on a HDTV, it increases the resolution of the game being played, HDTV has nothing to do with graphical limitations, its the power of the console that limits it, not the HD.

People aren't just pricks for no reason, right? Since you're here, dissing people on a game forum, its a pretty fair assumption(Yes, I am assuming), its because of envy, right? If not, please, enlighten me.

I'm with you. Yes the graphical limitations have little to do with the Wii being played on an HDTV... But it has a LOT to do with how good the final product is going to look. Low detail (see: technical limitations) on high definition (see: HDTV) = poor payoff for your HDTV. Got it? Probably not, but I'm not surprised at this point. The leap from "something" to "envy" is where your whole thing falls apart. I have an expensive computer. I can buy any system I want. I can't get an HDTV because I travel a lot - a side effect of me having more than chump change to throw around. I'm a prick for a variety of reasons, and you could see it spill out in hundreds of posts in my history... If I'm a prick because I'm envious, based on my post history, I envy owners of every system, every TV type, even when they are systems I own with games I own on TVs I own or have better than. You can take from that what you will, though I'm sure I'll be poorly based and far off the mark.

See sig. This doesn't count the old school systems I have in my den. NES -> DC (no TG-16 yet)
