Yeah this is what i wont to know. will m$ be replacing the old graphics chip, when your console rrod's? cos if they do, that should completely rule the problem out.

I have a falcon, 13% is very low. I doubt I'll see the RROD. Toriko42Two things. First good luck with that and second. 13% is high. Stop fooling yourself and face the facts.
Will this stop the 360 from making so much noise?
I couldn't stand it at my friends house and neither could he.
I think its funny how everyone selectivly remembers the horrible ps2 hardware failure rate. I don't have a single friend who didn't go through at least 2 or 3 ps2's during it's lifetime.
Also, back then we would just go buy a new one. At least with the 360 we have warranty repairs to take care of the hardware failures. However, that still does not excuse the fact that I am on my 3rd 360 in two years, despite my attempts to treat my 360 like the most fragile thing in the universe.
I guess my point is, sh*t breaks no matter who the manufacturer is. We could be much worse off by having to repurchase 360's like we did ps2's.
umm and how do you know this will fix the rrod problem?? chances are it wontbigLLL
chances are it will. RROD happens because the GPU produces so much heat and melts the solder causing it to dislodge. This new 65MM chip will drastically reduce the amount of heat the gpu produces and will fix the problem
[QUOTE="Al3x_n90"][QUOTE="007ybse04"][QUOTE="Al3x_n90"]Yeah the jasper chip will resolve the problem just like the falcon :D 007ybse04
90nm CPU is heating up max 50 Celcius degree. 65nm CPU is 30-50 percent cooler than that. BUT 90NM GPU is STILL MAX To 100 CELCIUS DEGREE (BOILING POINT OF WATER) That darn thing will be 65nm too. Got it?
Then you show what you are. Any problems with IQ?
RLOD equals %90 of GPU problems , and That will be %50 cooler now.
Bookmark me. Failure rate will be %1-3 for that full 65nm 360s. Unless sony fanboys make some 360s broke and show them up on youtube
Well it's about time dont you think?
M$ might have done in 2 years what Nintendo and Sony have done in...well, the very second they entered the market.
Funny thing is rumors has it that 65nm PS3 will be coming out this holiday.

The 65nm PS3 has been out for almost a year, it's called the 40GB...lol

That's because the PS2 was always at a steady 2-3% failure rate.
I had my PS2 for 8 years before I sold it.

I was more than posetive they only took out 2 usb slots and the remainings of ps2 compatability, no?
EDITED: omg lollz, I had no clue...

I've had my 360 for just under two weeks and it just froze about an hour ago while I was playing Mass Effect. Not that it is something of an issue since I am fully covered by Futureshop on everything for 3 years, it is just the being force to stop playing that pisses me the hell off. I was just about to start the last main mission and work my way towards the sex scene and the ending.foxhound_foxThats probably just Mass Effect. That game has a lot of glitches. It might be the 360, but I doubt it.
I remember it. I had to get my PS2 fixed. I just don't care about it any more. That was then, this is now.I think its funny how everyone selectivly remembers the horrible ps2 hardware failure rate. I don't have a single friend who didn't go through at least 2 or 3 ps2's during it's lifetime.

whats RLOD?ReaperV7
red light of death, i've heard some people call it that. i guess it makes more sense because if you get the ring, it just means your video cable is unpluged

well i was fimilar with RROD....but RLOD is ....something ive never heard before ....sounds smexy...
It's a shame most people who bought their console at launch will have run out of their 3 year warranty by the time these hit the shelves.ONLYDOD
Yep.
Still no perma fix since november 2005.

Jasper sound good. And remember, it will most likely be much quieter than a normal 360.munu9

the next fix idea: play while keeping your 360 in the freezer.
haha, that made me giggle, reminds me of some vids i saw of guys using liquid nitrogen to overclock a pc to world record speeds. In all fairness tho, this is the first hardware revision that has actually addressed the problem, which causes rrod, so it should fix the problem

Rarely left off daily ? ;)On topic, It is the only flaw and wildly blown out of proportion but the problem being solved and the fix implemented is always a great thing.
why did MS create such a error?Tjeremiah1988
are you serious? lol. You make it sound like they did it on purpose

I know you are kidding, but just because I heard some actually broke their 360 that way and lost their warranty, dont put your 360 in the freezer!!! :)

It's sad my 360 elite got RROD last week, because they confirmed to me that even if i get refurb model back, it has the latest mobo available put inside.. well i'm short 3 weeks from getting the jasper chips i guess...
would be nice if there would be no more RRoD because i would finally purchase a 360.falconzss
yeah same here
there is no such thing as a permafix for electronics. they will all die one day. impossible to catch them all. anything under 5% or so is the industry standard. Really, some say anything under 15%.Still no perma fix since november 2005.
What a travesty.

Uhh that is about 300% higher than the avg of 3% for other consoles... Yea, it's real low.

I'm still waiting to get my goddamn xbox back from the repaire place. its been longer then the predicted waiting period
is it really that hard to just throw it out and send me a new one?

Because the call centre was foreign and customer service was so bad I decided to buy a new one. Fool me twice anyway.
RROD will never be fixed. Its a hardware failure issue. There is no product with a 0% failure rate. RROD can be reduced, which it has been multiple times.
The real issue is dumb gamers (people who goto sites like gamespot) that still buy a used 360. Especially from Gamestop. Gamestop has sold me multiple broken xbox 1s (one didn't work out the box, so they didn't even test it), they sold me a broken gamecube (once again, didn't work as soon as it was plugged up, so they didn't even test it) and they've sold me broken games. When a store as shady as gamestop is a major videogaming retailer, and you have a system that had faulty hardware, you know there will be trouble.
Theres no doubt in my mind that GS would take a broken system, label it as "fixed", and sell it to someone else the same day. If that person returned it, they'd take it, label it as "fixed" and sell it again to someone else the same day. I think they honestly feel that eventually someone will just eat the loss so its more money in there pocket... especially if they can attach some game sales to the reselling of this system.

I like how you made up a bunch of numbers there. Congratulations.
The chip sizes may have played a role in the RROD, but it isn't the cause. The RROD will still be there.
Wonder , if people bought a PC with known heating problems would they keep bringing it back again and again to the shop after it dies or maybe ad a fan to get rid the problem ?
That's what i did on my launch unit , ad a small silent 5v fan blowing cool air on the GPU and replaced the 2 crappy stock fans with better silent fans to move more air .
The added heatpipe on the passive GPU cooler , replacement of the X-Clamp and the total 65 NM chipset finally brings the 360 to normal failure rates , if you are thinking of buying a 360 next month is the time to do it .
Check the 360 box on power consumption , if it's lower than the 175 watt Falcon it's a Jasper for sure .

Your sig...what does that have to do with gaming?
And don't divert the fact that you didn't kill 1.6 million of my people. You did, even if you got some of yours massacred some other time as well. Face the facts; civilizations and conflict go hand in hand. Just look at history, or better yet, present day.
Anyways, on topic - I'm on my fourth 360 and I don't see what the huge deal about all this is. So, it breaks, either send it in or *GASP* if you're too impatient, do a Costco swap. but shhh, you didn't hear that from me.
