a console's lifespan is purely a function of how long 3rd party devs will continue to support it. 1st party support makes it look a bit more legit, but it's not necessary.Dreams-Visions

The key thing is to make sure you’re…this is going to sound trite, but make sure that you listen to your customers. For example, when we launched Video Marketplace, lots of people said, “That’s great, but now I’d like to have bigger storage, because not only am I downloading Arcade games and other content now, but I’ve got this video content as well.” Seems pretty reasonable…I think we’ll look at that and do something along those lines. You’ve got to be looking at what’s best for your customers from a capabilities standpoint, and then you have to figure out when you put it all together, what’s the right mix? Is it part of your cost reduction, or is it going to be something that’s at the same price, but you’ve added more capabilities and you’ve created more value for your customers?

Yeah that is mainly to do with TV manufactures being pressured from the Movie Studios in Hollywood. HDMI will be outdated in less than 10 years and TVs will use another output by than.

Yeah I think they are going to have to do something with all new TVs supporting HDMI. I guess you can blame MS for not thinking ahead 2 to 3 years.
