360 VS PS3 GTA4 in a nutshell

360: console was out first so development of GTA4 would have started first on 360 meaning that the PS3 version is just the ported stuff from the 360 that began a year & a half or two ago, and we all know about 360 to ps3 ports now don't we.

Ps3: it will have sharper textures than 360 thanks to blu ray not having to compress everthing (much like Oblivion) and thats about all the pros for the ps3, I believe preformance will be down on 360 (sad) due to the above reason for 360.

And for that matter, the 360 part is incorrect too. Sometimes its like you people think that these developers actually use the console to develop the game, like Grandma's boy or something.

You forget RAM is the most major factor in textures, the Xbox 360 has more RAM, hence better textures.

The Xbox 360 get free AA as well so laess jaggies.

I know what you mean but the developers technology they optimise for the console, hense 360 came first and know they have to try and make it work on ps3 which came later

No the resolution of the textures, blu ray the textures will been uncompressed, dvd9 will have to be compressed, and compressed images equals blur.

The game loads once when you start up a game, after that it never loads untill you start a new game.

Well, it was going to be exclusive to the PS3 until M$ killed the game, as it has to be 'equal' so it gets dumbed down for the 360, and it'll still own on PS3 even though it could have been so much better as a PS3 exclusive.

yeah plus technically the 360 has more ram available since the ps3 os uses up more.

lol this thread is very funny. Gotta love the guy ranting on about how the 360 has more ram so it will have faster load times. If im correct oblivion loads faster and has less loading points than the 360 version.

acctually two rams memorys are for multiprocesing. If you don't uderstand that here is an example, you have a world loaded, and but that wolrd is too huge that you need more space, the PS3 use the first 256mb card, and the the other one whitout stopping the game. entiende compadre

Compressing data has no effect on graphics.

360 has a much better Ram configuration no ifs ands or buts. Why can't PS3 fans ever concede that any part of the PS3 is not as good as 360. I can concede the PS3 has a better CPU and made the right move with a standard HD. The 360 has a better GPU and RAM, get over it.

The Ps3 oblivion has quicker load times because they could guarantee a HDD for every unit, unlike the 360. Also, no load times can be done (or at least unseen load screens), e.e. Test Drive Unlimited has a 600 square mile island and no load screens (except the one at the beginning and whenever you teleport to a location far away from where you are), as it constantly loads surrounding areas as you are in the current one, which doesn't stop play.

Kinda like  Saint's Row when you could walk into building without loadtimes, but is SR you still had load times when starting missions, only about 5 to 7 seconds though on average.

Sorry, you're wrong.  It's better, very much better, due to split memory pools containing 256MB worth of GDDR3 memory and 256MB worth of XDR memory, the PS3 can at best dedicate 256MB worth of ram to textures at any given moment whereas the 360 uses unified memory for a total of 512MB at any given moment for textures.

That's before I get into the fact that the PS3's OS uses up 32MB worth of available GDDR3 for the RSX chip and uses 64MB worth of available XDR memory.  Whereas Xbox 360 uses only 32MB total for it's OS, and don't even get me started on the amount of memory the 360 saves by using 10MB eDRAM on Xenos for free 4xAA.

XBox 360's memory > PS3's memory, by a frigging land slide.

Only if compressed to much.... I gaurantee you  that if you use moderate compression with high quality settings, you would not be able to tell an uncompressed image from a compressed one. That is looking at a still image to boot. There is NO WAY you would in a game while actually playing it.
