360 with Halo, Forza, Gears.... AAAE series King in those genre's ?

:P This just kinda hit me and is off the top of my head so I'm open to info I likely didn't consider.

Back before Halo 3 shipped, SW had some lengthy discussions on what makes a series AAA and Cassey settled it by saying a franchise needs 3 AAA's in a row to be considered a AAA series in SW so with that in mind...

With Halo having 5 AAA's in a row and Forza with 3 AAA's in a row, IF, see Big IF there but if Gears 3 scores AAA...

Will this mean 360 has the only FPS, Racing & TPS AAA franchises this gen. :shock:

There is no if, Gears 3 will score AAA. If Gears 2 scored AAA with that mess of online (I'm just going by what people here said, never tried it online), then 3 is in the books.

But it is a good feat.

If only I cared about scores and "AAA-franchise" :(

Now after not getting used to this AA ans AAA nomenclature coneventions all I can say is-X360 does have some wonderful exclusives like Halo series and Forza Motorsports and PGR (can't call Gears of War exclusive as the original was released for the PC ages ago),it is the PS3 which is getting more desirable exclusives like Killzone,God Of War,Uncharted,Ratchet and Clank,Infamous,MGS4,Resistance and Team Ico games.Now those are what you call AAA franchises which will possibly never ported to the PC.With Microsoft you never know! BTW-I am just talking about exclusives here and think both X360 and PS3 are great systems in their own right.

Well no disrespect meant towards Cassey but he's hardly the be all end all authority of SW. I'd think that if a franchise contained more AAA titles than anything else, it would be considered as a AAA franchise. Or what if a franchise has 1 AAAA, 1 AAA, and 1 AA? What would it be considered then? AA franchise?

Killzone, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, MGS, Resistance are not AAA franchises. Not on Gamespot anyway. God of War is, if you're only talking about the main installments. "Team Ico games" is not a franchise, and no Team Ico game has ever gotten AAA on this site..

For halo and forza I believe that they should count for this gen(seeing as the majoraty of the games came out on the 360).

I hate to admit it, but this does come off as "desperate" in a way. In the same sense, cows can state "New IP King". amrite?

Gears of War does not deserve it. Biggest piece of s*** game. So bland and boring. Rainbow Six Vegas was a better action game. I never played the MP on Halo 2 or Halo 3, but based off the single player I would not put them up there with the original Halo. ODST is an overpriced expansion which should have been punished for being an overpriced expansion, and Reach is a high quality game. Forza 3 is a great game and deserving of praise, but I am done with racers. Never played the first 2 but I will assume they are of equal quality.

Also, it all depends on what rules they're going by, because if they're going by the "3 iterations this gen" rule, then Forza is ruled out because it only have 2 iterations so far this gen, but if they're taking it all the way back to the original xbox, then Halo is ruled out because an iteration appeared on the PC.

3 AAA in a row? That just proves that the next installment will most likely be AAA.

That doesn't however, automatically make a series 'king' in its specific genre. What about the MGS series? Sure, it may have not gotten 3 AAAs in a row, but it does have 1 AAAA (a perfect 10), which is something halo, gears, or Forza has never achieved.

God of War, for example, has 3 AAA games in its series... each game didn't exactly shoot up to the Uncharted 2 level of quality gaming though :|

Uncharted 2 is better than any gears game, reviews and awards will tell you that.

Forza... i'd probably give it to the 360. It took GT down a long time ago, and continues to do so.

Anyway, 360 still doesn't have a good exclusive game for 2011. That's what matters the most right now :P
