Anyone else thinking about getting it if it comes in white like the japanese version? akuma303x
that would be so awesome if it was in white.....I wish I had a white one :(
Nope. There are no games on it that I want. If COD 4 was exclusive to PS3 then I would get it, but as it stands there are no exclusive games on PS3 that make me want to own the system. Maybe next year though.thinicerI wont lie, I just want the Bluray player in it. I really dont care about many PS3 games at the moment. But it may come packed with a Spiderman 3 movie if rumors are to be believed.

Well I definately want to try out Uncharted, and I doubt they will drop the price any lower than 399 for a while, so I'm picking mines up as soon as possible. Why wait?

agreed. It wont drop price again for a while. If it comes in white I'll get one. If not, I will wait till it does.[QUOTE="thinicer"]Nope. There are no games on it that I want. If not for the blu-ray player, then my PS3 would never get turned on.
In fact, R&C ToD will probably be the only PS3 game I buy for a long while.
Sony took too long to appeal to me.
Hell, they still haven't. Unless Socom Confrontation or Zipper's project turn out to be as great as Socom 1 and 2. I don't plan on buying a PS3. I'll just use that money to either buy more games for my 360, or build a PC if my 360 gets the RROD or something.

You take the whole PS2 libary which had the most AAA exclusive games last gen and most games in general and not be able to play them at all on the new PS3. Meanwhile most of the big games that PS3 fans want on PS3 they have to wait for with some a year away. So why does it make any sense to pay $400 to wait for those games.

Wrong. It's not screwing over anyone, but you knew that because that's why you felt the need to say that because you can't stand the fact that the PS3 is getting better all the time.

ditto. the only reason I want a PS3 is for the Blu-Ray player....it would look pretty sweet on my 1080p TV. While I wouldn't buy aPS3 just for these games, I'd like to get Killzone 2 and Motorstorm.

I'm probably older than you. Why do tweens constantly throw around the word "kid"? Does it make you feel better about yourself? I don't get it. The best you get is PS1 BC is not something you really want to be proud of. Having BC from games 2 generations ago only is nothing close to ownage.I still feel good about my PS3 purchase. 600 beans, but fully compatible with PS2 games.
Still 400 to get into the next gen of gaming AND HD movies, not bad at all, and really that is a sweet spot price for many people.

Yeah but the 360 doesn't play HD DVD movies without an expensive attachment. So being able to play current gen games and HD movies is a plus for the PS3. Its a good price point for many who are still clinging to their PS2's.

They cut the cost. They aren't losing as much anymore. In fact its probably closer to being profitable. Is Microsoft even making money yet? Probably still feeling the pinch on that extended 3 year warranty.

xbox brand has yet to make a profit, after the warranty extension, even with halo 3 their profit forecasts were still pushed back atleast 1 fiscal year.[QUOTE="BambooBanger"]Talk about a last ditch effort.

They were losing $200 USD on each $599 PS3 sold 11 months ago, I can't imagine the manufacturing costs have dropped that significantly within a year.

Since the system's launch, production costs have been reduced significantly as a result of phasing out the EE chip[48] and falling hardware costs.[49][50] The cost of manufacturing Cell microprocessors has fallen dramatically as a result of moving to the 65nm production process[51][50] and Blu-raydiodes being around $100 cheaper to manufacture.[49][52]
The cumulative reduction in production costs is as follows:
This brings the total cost reduction to at least $156 excluding the chipset modifications. Excluding the 65nm Cell B.E. change (which is not yet used), the minimum cost reduction based on this approximation becomes $127

They cut some things that were useless really like sd card, memory stick and flash card readers and 2 extra usb ports not to mention a smaller HDD and a more efficient Cell 65nm.[QUOTE="Liquid-GEAR"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"][QUOTE="Liquid-GEAR"]As sad as it is, its better than Xbox BC :x The word "better" is subjective.
