read. rumor started by xbox's director of strategy. if theirs a rumor all over the internet that if they wait a couple months longer to get a ps3 then they can save 100 dollars,then no one will buy a ps3 till it comes. what happens if it was only a rumor and the price drop doesnt come? sony loses thousands of sales in the critical times they needed to convice 3rd party publishers to make games on their system. if ps3 shows crappy sales in august and september while people wait for the price drop what will become of ps3?

Shouldn't Microsoft at least try to make a profit on their console at this point. I mean what's the point of constantly droping the price so your in the red when your system is already outselling the direct competition, the ps3 (that is to say that the Wii caters to a different type of gaming than the 360, not that it's better, just has a different audience).Insane00

Well it is better to knock off competition. If MS manage to gain a good enough lead on ps3 this holiday season then it will be nearly impossible for the ps3 to come back. When the ps3 is out of the competition then most consumers will buy xbox 360.

Sony is very desperate and they are doing everything they can to save the ps3. 4 skus and 2 discontinue skus in less than 1 year is pretty unstable.

Sony is losing way more money on the ps3 than MS is losing on the xbox 360. At least software sales for MS is oustanding.

If they are predicting this, plan on a holiday price war if Sony follows through with everyones predictions. MS seems like they are ready for it and have a plan (most businesses do). It will be a good holiday for the consumer.

If sony don't sell at least one million units from september to december then they will most likely be dead in NA. There is no way sony can come back at the rate it is selling.

I am really expecting a $400 ps3 to come out soon but sony are always late. MS probably have plans to counter this move with another pricedrop of its own.

No because ps3 NEEDS sales TODAY. So by delaying people from buying it they are costing sony money. I always wondered why a company would release a rumor that htey'd drop the price. it's stupid as no one will buy the product today.

Sony is losing way more money on the ps3 than MS is losing on the xbox 360. At least software sales for MS is oustanding.

I wouldnt go as far as using the word "Outstanding"....i reserve that word when describing that is really outstanding like DS or Wii sales.

you guys dont get it? there is like 4 million ps3's in stores right now for 500-600. if there really is a price drop that everyone is so sure about then they will sit their unsold meaning less orders from stores meaning less production of ps3's meaning ps3 part orders are smaller meaning the ps3 becomes more expensive to make. on top of that these consoles in stores cost around 800 dollars to make and will be costing only 400 dollars. im sure some sony will have to reimburse stores if their going to be losing 50 dollars per console at the new msrp if they originall got them for around 450. and if their isnt a price drop........then to developers it looks like for absolutely no reason the console is selling like crap. thats bad. se is already wary.......im_different

come on be serious, both companies no inside stuff from both side. sony probabyly planed this back in the summer, because devs where telling them to sell more systems.
