I already have a 3DS. I'll probably wait to get a Vita for a while (I'll probably pick it up sometime after Burning Skies releases. Can't wait for that). Also, I'm looking forward to catching up on PSP games I missed out on that are available for download.

Already have a 3DS and love it. I will probably get a Vita as well, but not at 250 dollars.

@Zurrur 1) so? The friend code is like a gamer tag , and if your friend is close, you can just connect wirelessly and no need to input the number. The FC is only used once, not in multiple games like wii and DS 2) 3DS is around wii and xbox level with better sharada and lightning. The full graphical power of it hasnt been revealed yet 3) guess what? Just like me, you don't have to buy it 4) well I have NTSC so it's good for me

Zurrur

Even without the accessory the 3DS has Two Shoulder Buttons, Four Face Buttons, 3 Nav buttons, a D-Pad, and Slide-Pad.

The Accessory only adds Two Triggers, another Shoulder Button (It covers up the Right Shoulder Button), and a Slide-Pad.

I see no reason in owning a 3DS. Especially compared to the Vita because itis superior in EVERY SINGLE WAY! Why anyone would buy a 3DS over Vita is beyond me....

ShadowMoses900

Oh gee, I don't know, maybe, you know.. THE GAMES? You know, those things you buy systems for? Please do explain how Vita plays Nintendo games in a superiour way.

3DS. I wanted to try and like the Vita but its the same as last time. Much better graphics but the battery life is shoddy compared. The games are the same that I can get on my PS3 and the only one that stands out is Uncharted.

How is it an oversized accessory a bad thing when it pretty much makes the 3DS about the size of the Vita? I mean really, you think mini-analog sticks poking out with a 5 inch screen and the sides of it are going to be that portable without a purse/backpack?

Midway down the road, I might purchase one or both of them. It'll benefit me to know at least one handheld gaming system if I want to prove that I am a good programmer. Of course, I will probably also do it for the sake of spending a little free time playing games.

Let's compare, shall we (now all of these numbers aren't a 100% confirmed but have been discovered by people finding the original CPU info, tearing apart the RAM, and the specs from DMP on the GPU) PSP: 333Mhz CPU, 32MB RAM for games (64MB in other units but 32MB for games only), 111Mhz GPU (its clocked down from the 166Mhz it can go up to) and no internal storage, WIreless Friggin' B! 3DS: Multi-Core 800Mhz-1Ghz CPU, 128MB FCRAM, 200Mhz GPU, 2GB Internal Storage, Wireless G, Tilt Controls, etc. So being as the 3DS has 4 times the RAM the psp can use for games, and it's GPU can be nearly twice as fast, and it's CPU is dual core and up to two times faster than the PSP, I really don't understand what you're saying. Btw, here are my sources for this info, as someone is going to call me out on it I know. http://www.3dsbuzz.com/3ds-forum/nintendo-3ds-hardware-10/nintendo-3ds-cpu-processor-wth-1473/ and http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-3ds-has-128mb-of-ram-197572.phtml and this is the link to the CPU made by ARM that is in the 3DS http://www.arm.com/products/processors/classic/arm11/arm1176.php

Got a 3DS already. Will probably get a Vita eventually, although none of the launch titles currently interest me. I'd rather continue building my DS collection and start collecting heavily for the PSP before moving onto the Vita though. It's a timing issue really. Too much I want to buy right now that doesn't fit within the gaming budget.

Both eventually but the Vita so far has the types of games I'm more interested in even if the quantity of new titles and graphical fidelity isn't up to the level I'd like them to be.

Uncharted and the fact that it has two analog sticks (which I think Nintendo has failed in), as well as the hopefull ability to play my UMD titles (including the ones not released on PSN, like Star Ocean - both of my discs are broken....literally!) are all I need to get the Vita. 3DS? Well, there's Zelda OOT, Kid Icarus, Star Fox (which I already have on the Wii VC, but still, it's awesome with its updated graphics, as was the case with OOT), Mario titles (and more than one at that!), and Game Boy titles (hopefully Advance support will come soon to everyone, and with non-first party games (all the games that Ambassadors are getting are first party)) are why I plan to pick up a 3DS as well.

i will get the 3DS...i don't care about graphics on a handheld, my gaming PC already rapes all handheld and console devices that will be coming out for the next 5 years. So any graphics i experience on handhelds or consoles will look like crap to me either way. I will choose a handheld for the games, and for that nintendo wins.

I bet most of the people in this thread saying that zero VITA games interest them so far have not even bothered looking at the lineup and only know that it has an uncharted game coming out.

I'll be getting both.

Neither....why would you ever buy a handheld. I don't get the point unless you're like 8 and your parents take you on a lot of road trips. KC_Hokie

Erm... because their are games on handhelds that you cannot play on consoles? If you're not buying a handheld because you consider it childish, then I feel sorry for you because you're missing out on a lot of good games (companies usually take more risks and make more interesting games on handhelds as it's cheaper to develop for).

It's an awful lot of money to spend for PS1 or PS2 graphics.

Games don't need good graphics to be great games (unless you personally place all emphasis on graphics over gameplay, art style, etc...).

I'm more interested in the Vita.

However they both seem very distinct, so if you are wealthy gamer i see no problem in getting them both. The only recommendation i'd give you is to wait for a 3ds revision.

Nintendo's given me NO incentive to buy a 3DS at this point. I'm not interested in any game except OoT remake, which I've already played years ago so I can wait. The battery life sucks, a new analog stick's going to come out, and God knows what else Nintendo's going to do in the near future to further screw over those who bought the system early. I'm not going to make the same mistake and buy four version of the same hardware with minimal improvements. Waiting only benefits.....better hardware, longer battery life, more games, all for cheaper. Why NOT wait?

PS Vita....meh. They also are not showing many games that hold my fancy. Maybe handhelds just aren't for me. All they do is sit around and collect dust until I go on a trip somewhere.

"Another reason to avoid a platform"? Hah. Unless the console is dying, such words do not exist in my eyes. There's like 500,000 games avaliable for portable systems - PSP, DS, GB, Game Gear, and even iOS. Maybe more. But I do know that there are more portable games than retail console games. Developers like this. It gives them REASONS to make games for those platforms. Money and fan satisfaction. Also, Japanese-developed games have made up more than half (if not all) of my PSP collection. I also love J games on the go, but I do think there needs to be more non-Final Fantasy JRPGs for consoles, specifically Xbox 360. Just sayin'. Also, there are games that aim to give you a similar experience to if you were playing on a console. This is especially the case with Gameloft's iOS games (just look at the screens, and it's plainly obvious), Uncharted GA, and, with the Dual-Analog update, Resistance Retribution.
