Do your own research. On this forum you'll get dumbasses with no experience with a particular handheld pushing their own opinion.

Oh so much this. On a side note, this has got to be one of the most repeated thread titles in system wars, I swear we're getting at least one a week.

Just look at the Libraries.

but in reality you should just look at these two games and determine your purchase through them.

Two games I don't own. :P

Really liked the FE demo, and still pissed I missed the Persona sales. D=<

I'm pretty sure alot of these threads are stealth trolls. It happened alot last generation with PS3 vs 360 as well. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but if someone is too lazy or unintelligent enough to use the internet they're already on to research the price, hardware, features, scores, upcoming games on systems then too bad. Also, the fact that this section of the forums is a known fanboy cess pool.

I'd much rather have the 3DS. More games that interest me.

I would get a 3ds personally, especially when it is backwards compatible with the DS, giving you access to a massive game library on top of the 3ds's..

The Vita is nice to look at, the 3DS nice to play games on.
I don't think the Vita will have a long life. If you're buying the system to only play games on that are out now, I could see somebody angry with life buy a Vita.

KungfuKitten
Vita got a price cut in japan and I expect the rest will be by summer. Like 3ds did when sales were not so good. Any system can be disappointing to someone. 3ds has been out longer yet has less games in my interest then vita, as an example.

Like Legato said, If you get a 3DS get Fire Emblem Awakening, if you get a Vita get Persona 4 Golden. You will win either way.

the 3DS is an awesome gaming machine, it has really reinvigorated gaming outside of the PC for me, (which is pretty much all I have been doing for the past 6 months). The 3D is surprisngly well done in the game that i've played so far, Fire Emblem, RE revelations; and the graphics are also great for a portable.

Vita didn't interest me at all, considering its steep price and lack of software. i would recommend the 3DS and Fire Emblem Awakening, you won't regret it.

Well, like everyone else has already said, it really comes down to which games you like to play (because there's not alot of multi-plats between these two systems). But here are some other points you may want to consider:

3DS XL is about double the battery life of the Vita.

Graphically, they can both output pretty much the same quality visuals (minus the 3D). Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS looks just as good as any of the best looking games on the Vita to date.

The Vita has dual analog sticks (which I feel is very important).

The Vita can use WiFi or 3G depending on model.

The Vita has better social apps than the 3DS does.

The 3DS has dozens of other apps ranging from Music Making, Basic Programming, Animation, Drawing Tools, Etc, that I feel are fantastic.

I like the fold-away "laptop" design of the 3DS over the Vita's open design which leaves that gorgeous OLED screen vulnerable.

The Vita's Screen is marginally larger than the 3DS XL's. Vita= 5 in. 3DS XL= 4.88 in. (but you really won't notice the difference)

I can honestly say, I own a 3DS XL and its amazing. My favorite handheld of all time for sure, and maybe even my favorite console of all time. Its games are amazing, I get addicted to a new game about every 3 months. I'm gonna list all of the great games on the 3DS: Fire Emblem Awakening Resident Evil Revelations Super Mario 3D Land Kingdom Heart Dream Drop Distance Kid Icarus Uprising Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D Mario Kart 7 Super Street Fighter IV 3D Dead or Alive Dimensions Star Fox 64 3D Zero' Escape Virtue's Last Reward Mario Tennis Open Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D New Super Mario Bros. 2 Paper Mario Sticker Star Some games coming soon, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon Mario Golf Animal Crossing A New Leaf Project X Zone Phoenix Wright vs Proffesor Layton Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney 5 Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Pokemon X and Y Also lets not forget the virtual console and e-shop. Pushmo and Crashmo are amazing. Cave Story is great. The virtual console has so many great classic NES and GBC games already, and its getting GBA games. SNES and N64 games are also a possibility, but I think Nintendo will focus on classic handheld games. Also lets not forget the 3DS is backwards compatible with the DS, which has some amazing games. Not to mention Super Smash Bros. 3DS and a brand new original Zelda will for sure come to the 3DS as well as the possibility for a 3DS remake of Majora's Mask. Also we'll likely see a new Metroid and something like a Golden Sun soon, which will surely be must have games. I have a 3DS, and my brother owns a PS Vita. I was curious about playing the PS Vita at first, but nothing really sparks my interest in it now. I have played a bit of Uncharted and Playstation All Stars, but there isn't really anything on the PS Vita that's unique and a must have. Persona 4 Golden maybe, but 1 excellent remake does not make a system worth buying. The 3DS is just amazing, the games lineup is one of the best and most diverse Nintendo games lineup in history, and its only been a couple years. The support is great, and I find myself loving so many games. I'm sure not everyone of the games I listed are for you, but there have got a ton of games that atleast interest you, and I gurantee you'll get addicted to a lot of games.

Revelations looks incredible, not to mention it runs in full 3D. Overall I say Golden Abyss has an edge, but its not on another level. The two games are very close graphically

I would personally take the 3DS any day of the week, mainly due to more interesting games for me, and continuous support.

Of course its up to you really. The Vita has options to play older PS games, and a rather good RPG selection, but is priced quite a bit higher in comparison. Both are decent at what they do though.

Also 3DS is cheaper then Vita, and doesn't require ridiculous memory options and you can just use an SD card as expandable memory.

The 3DS XL screen is bigger than 3DS, but the resolution is the same. 3DS XL graphics are pixelated.

Yeah I must say that had to be the greediest design choice I have seen in a long time..  Sony not only forces people to buy their own sd cards as well as doesn't ship with the system, but its jacked up to like 2 to 3 times the price of a regular sd card.. Fvcking absurd.

Wait until the middle jungle levels and the very last level when you're on a canoe, Sony Bend are just fantastic with their water effects, every since Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow. Subjective value, I guess. I haven't played Revelations completely, so who am I to say how great it looks at its peak. Still, Golden Abyss man, that's some great looking stuff.

Well, I purchased my 3DS at launch because I wanted a second DS to play multiplayer anyway, and figured the 3DS would probably have games before it got a price drop. I was wrong about that, and probably would have been better off waiting (though the Ambassador program games are very nice considering I never owned a GBA). It is an awesome system now, and I really don't feel bad about dropping $250 for it, but I probably wouldn't go that route again. I also purchased a Vita for about $180 on black Friday last year, and even at that price, I'm wishing I would have just picked up the PSP instead. My Vita came with a 4GB memory card and Assassin's Creed. Assassin's Creed is all that I've played so far, but it blows. I'm going to pick up P4G because I've heard great things, but really I'm more interested in the PSP downloads like Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Tactics Ogre. My advise would be to get the 3DS right now. It already is loaded with great games, is selling very well, and costs about half as much as the Vita after you figure in the cost of the memory card. The Vita is not selling well at all, and will most likely get a price drop by the time it has a good library. Patience has always been tough for me when it comes to consoles and handhelds, but it really is the best way to go.

They are both great but right now I'd go with 3DS XL, Luigi's Mansion is right around the corner and it just got Fire Emblem and Monster Hunter tomorrow.  Not to mention Pokemon in the fall.

The price of memory cards are indeed a rip-off.  However, you don't have to look to far back to see a similar situation.  MS was charging $100 for a 20gb proprietary hard drive a few years back (don't know if they still do, highly doubt it).  Sony is charging $100 for a 32 micro SD card, still a crap deal, but better than what MS was charging.

Lems are quick to forget that when they trash the Vita (not calling you a Lem, just have seen it in the past).

Vita is cool and all, but the memory card prices and serious lack of games are whats slowly killing it.

I own both systems and anyone who says that the Vita has no games is a proven hack not worthy of being listened to. I'd get the Vita, simply because that's the one holding my attention. The real flaw of the 3DS is the lack of a second stick. Sure, you can buy a bulky addon that isn't supported (that add-on should be supported in the system firmware so that all games recognize the new shoulder buttons, at the very least), but the slidepad was never accurate to begin with and does not come close to feeling good.

3DS. Enjoyed the PSP, but I've enjoyed all of Nintendo's handhelds more. They always have a huge library of games that I really enjoy while the PSP had a handful. In the 3DS I know I'm getting something that will give me my moneys worth, while at this point in it's life the Vita can't.
