3rd parties don't have the guts to support Wii, and its their loss.

"If the Wii continues to dominate, it would mark the first time a company has led a generation in hardware sales without top-shelf support from a majority of publishers."

They're scared of Ninty's games overshadowing 3rd party IP's, but in reality Nintendo's most recent games haven't had the wow factor of years past.

Example: Twilight Princess, Prime 3, and Super Paper Mario weren't as good as previous installments in each franchise.

If dev's actually looked at the situation for what it is WITHOUT the typical Nintendo console byas they would realize that if they bothered to spend the time to make quality titles for the Wii they would sell like friggin crazy. Instead Wii gamers are left with shovelware just like last gen.

Most devs are still stuck in the GC mentallity that mature games won't sell. They apparently haven't even bothered to look at the Wii's sale stats.

I wish they would read this editorial.

EA has a tendency to destroy gaming

STOP THEM BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!

EDIT: now with mario and sonic teaming up in the olympic games and brawl, maybe sega can help out too (prays for quality sonic games)

Hopefully Capcom will prove otherwise.

Zack and Wiki is already a great game, so lets see how it sells.

RE: UC should sell good since RE4 sold pretty well.

And then if Okami sells well, then developers have nothing to fear.

Don't forget about Rockstar and Grasshopper, Man Hunt 2 and No More Heroes will likely have a huge impact on third party development for the Wii. Oh and Vanillaware.

Agreed I found all those games vastly superior to their predecessors (except Super Paper Mario since I've never played TTYD)

However I agree with what he said but not in that degree. Back in the day Nintendo made games that revolutionized gaming such as Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Kart, and Super Metroid. However when the Cube hit we've just been seeing rehash after rehash Save Melee, Prime 1, and Mario Kart DS, every Nintendo game in the past couple years hasn't really had that "holy crap!" feedback. However this will change because Super Mario Galaxy is pushing level design to the limit and Brawl looks like the Brawler genres Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

Yep, Nintendo has set such a high standard for some of their games that not even they themselves can live up to it sometimes. You need to play TTYD, some wont agree with me, but I think it was better that the first PM.

In my eyes the Nintendo of today isn't the Nintendo of before. When Nintendo use to release or hell even publish a game it was few and far inbetween and the games quality matched any developer out there, and as far as Nintendo's actual games (aka Nintendo EAD) nothing and I mean nothing could even touch their games. And if they did the game quickly found itself rehasing one after another (Sonic the Hedgehog 2) or having consistant updates (Street Fighter II). However nowadays it seems like Nintendo is following the parth of SEGA's first party. Have your second party devs. release the games without too much of your supervision, have your team just aim for "great", and buy out a crap load of devs. resulting in many cruddy games (WarioMaster of Disguise) while just getting that once in a while gem (Elite Beat Agents).

I don't know about you, but I STRONGLY prefer the Nintendo of the old.

But that's one game though. In Nintendo's ealier days every Nintendo made game was godly and revolutionized the entire genre and perhaps industry. While a fair share amount of Nintendo's second party games did the same. Nowadays Nintendo just trys to work with the games formulas instead of evolving them. Yes Metroid Prime 3 was an almost perfection of the current Metriod formula, but it didn't revolutionize or drastically evolved it. Yes Twilight Princess was nigh perfection of the current Zelda foruma but I'd love for Nintendo to take the overmap design and ways of travel by the horns to make it feel like you are TRULY having an adventure. I know people will just say "But it's because we're so far in gaming and we've done so much". I don't believe that BS, there are so many things in the realm of level-design and gameplay that we haven't tried before. The best we can do is just simply imagine it, but it wasn Nintendo who actually did it. Nintendo had the same focus as Blizzard (probably even inspired Blizzard), which is to think of an amazing idea and work that idea as a game as long as possible until it's done, but when it's done it will be the best game ever. Now it's more so "let's just make another "great" game".

Agreed and I'm sick of it. Screw Obilivion, Screw Lost Odyessy, and Screw White Knight Story. This is the RPG I want.

I want an RPG that is side-scrolling 2Dish that kinda moves like Sonic Xtreme but with not so curvy and better camer movement (keep reading). A game that involves you to be able to customize your character and set foot in one huge open sand box world to train, fight enemies, and explore. It would also have a really deep Turn-Based Battle System like Shin Megami Tensei game. The character you play as would be a defender of justice who could get money to feed the poor, kill demons out in the woods, hunt down and kill bandits, fight in huge battles during wars, and taking down demon kings and witch lords. The game would revolve around the concept of "time". Instead of being in set paths to acheive the story like say "Chrono Trigger" events happen around a certain time and it's up for your to prevent them. For example say that you are training in a forest however there are monsters attacking attacking a near by village that contains someone of importance to the game. The outcome depends on what you do. Kill the monsters before they get to the village and the person would remain safe. Get to the village while the monsters attack and it depends if a certain monster gets to her first and kills are (if that is impossible to code then after a certain amount of times before you save her from her room), and if you let them kill her and her entire part is cut out of the game. As to know when events like these happen revolve around "word of mouth". Basically to find out what monsters are doing and when they are doing it or where someone is located it going into towns or finding travelers and eaves dropping or asking people something. The game has bigger plots as there is an evil Demon King who is trying to take over the world, however to fight him or even know about him depends on who you talk to, where you explore, and of course the time you get to him. Well that's the best I could explain it. :P

Well, Gunraiden, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker both did something different from the normal Zelda, so I don't see a return to the normal for one game as that big of a deal. Nintendo also said that they are going to do something different.

The next Metroid (I expect it to come during the middle of the "Wii 3" lifespan) will undoubedly do something different.

Not only do third parties have to compete with Nintendo itself, but the hardware limits their games and makes multiplatform releases impossible.

The Wii will never get serious third party support.
