3rd party or 1st party games: if you had to choose... (for PS3 fans)

which one is more important to you.. having only 1st party games with no 3rd party games at all (not even playing them on PC / other platforms /etc..), or the other way around?

If I had to choose, I'd say 3rd party support. More devs = more games.

Well first party games are better but there are lots of 3rd party games out there. Hmmm....

I enjoy games but as most of you know I prefer 1st party titles a lot more, not to say 3rd party games are not important since most of my favourite franchises are 3rd party, like MGS and Tekken.

I'd probably go with PS3 exclusives because of theonline games. I can't really come up with anything that would probably compare to Warhawk , Socom , Killzone 2 , Resistance 2 , LittleBigPlanet , Uncharted 2 , MAG. I'd give up COD , Battlefield , etc.

I'd sure miss MGS4 , RE5 , Dead Space , Bioshock , etc :( ..... but I guess I'll just have to make due with Uncharted 2 , Killzone 2 , God of War III , The Last Guardian(etc) and those great onlinegames.

First party. I know I'm getting a game that won't go multiplat like just about every 360 game out there.

The only 1st party games on the PS3 I have got so far is Resistance, Warhawk and Motorstorm. Well 3rd party game me MGS4. So I would have to say third party, I really have not cared that much for either of those three.

Obviously, this thread is being set up for ownage, mirite? Either way, if you are going to do that to one fanbase, you should do it to ALL Fanbases.

all of the games i at all want for the system are third party. sony's first party means squat to me, unless they start making kick ass RPGs surrealnumber5

I'm fairly sure that Demons Souls is a 1st Party title, Sony hired a 3rd Party developer to create it though, much like they did with Ratchet.

I think Demo's Souls is actually 1st Party, however, Sony hired an outside party to create it. I'm only calling people out to find out their intentions. I find the 1st Party is fantastic, so if someone doesn't feel that way, it seems they also happen to be nonPS3 owners. I'm more interested in a PS3 fan that actually doesnt' like 1st party games, instead of non owners throwing out their random opinion.

Anyways, what can you do to?

I didn't play Motorstorm (I don't like racing games), nor did I play KZ2 or Resistance 2.

Forget Developer, This is a 1st Party game. It was manufactured by Sony and From Software and it was commishioned to be made by Sony. Sony wasn't going to bring it to the U.S., so ATLUS published it over here to let us play it.

GeoW is made by EPIC, a 3rd party developer, BUT, the game GeoW is a 1st Party game.

Thing is that the PS3's best games are generally all from 1st party, so I can only imagine every PS3 owner saying 1st party.

Though 3rd party support is better. It's why the 360's library is larger, and has higher ranked games than the PS3 library.

Well, then,...here's my point.

If you haven't played and finished many 1st Party game for PS3, who's to say if you would or would not like them. Heck, when you do buy that PS3, perhaps in a year you may feel different.

I had this very same discussion about a month back by a guy who hated Mario and the Wii. Same conversation. If he never played a Mario game, how would he know if he hates or likes it?

Odds are, he would probably like it, but since he was prejugding Mario as Kiddy, he never tried it. Well, perhaps a lot of nonPS3 owners are prejudging Sony's 1st Party, since they have no experience in completing the game.

I've talked to guys that don't like Mario, and beat SMG, and that I can understand, but I can't understand someone who hates Zelda/Gran Turismo/GTA/Ratchet/GeoW/Halo/Mario/MGS/FF/RE/SF without ever playing it.

Ah well, congrats on your future purchase, and your list looks outstanding. I own and plan on owning every single game you mentioned, so props for taste.
