crysis was never optimized to run at 3 cards at once.
there is very little differecence in performence between that, and a single 8800GTX....
either way...you dont need to run this game at max for it to blow every game out of the water.

Um they compared the 3 card setup to a single card and a double card and it was much more than "very little differecence[sic] in performence"
SLI is a waste of time, the next series will have a higher chance than that setup.Meu2k7
It's true, the next series of cards will most likely outperform SLI 8800 cards no problem.
Woah.. I didn't even know you could do 3 cards at once..user_nat
You can do 4 if you rig it up correctly. They have quad SLI.

Yeah the next high end ATI card so be more powerful then a 8800 Ultra.

the next high end ATI card came out already...
The next Nvidia card series comes out in feb. :P

Engineers? Software Devs? Business men?
Even thing you have to spend a lot of your time working. I want to be a software developer. :) Unless my dad makes it into medical school...
EDIT: Then I should get into someprofessional typingclass.
Is this supposed to be some sort of insult? Crysis' highest settings weren't designed to be capable of being played at high frame rates until mid-next year...MetroidPrimePwn
Yeah but do you think the flagships in the next batch of cards will outperform 3x 8800ultras.

Dude the 3870 is a mid end card. The high end card from ATI is expected to be out first quarter 2008. ;)

Actually you could probably do Quad SLI with this.

Although 3 of the cards will only run in 8x mode, so it's not really worth it.

But, you still have to spend tons of cash to do so.

not really...a 8800GT will do fine.

yeah 8800 GT runs crysis very nicely
developpers making games that require 1800$ in hardware to run at highest setting ftw! :p

You realize that the highest settings on any PC game are twenty years ahead of consoles? Quadruple the resolution, twice the framerate, three times the antialiasing and anisotropic filtering, so on and so forth?
I wonder what kind of jobs high end hardcore PC gamers have?

Well, those guys have discovered America. Congrats to them.
Crysis was made to sell hardware? No wai...
Surprise Surprise. A PC game came out that has head room for the hardware to grow into!
This just in: Sand discovered at the beach!!
I am confident that there will be cards on the market by the end of 2008 that can completely max out Crysis at a playable frame-rate.

I like how the article says "accepting nothing less than a full 60 frames per second". It's obvious they haven't tried running crysis. LOL
At least one person gets it. Crysis hasn't been optimized for SLI! When the GeForce 9 series releases in February or whenever, I'd expect a single one of the flagship cards to put all three of those 8800 Ultras to shame! Also, Crysis on High already wipes the floor with most of the games on the market. Turn on some of the Very High features like light beams(the so-called "god-rays")using config file edits while using High settings as a base, and you'd get most of the quality of Very High with much less of a performance hit!crysis was never optimized to run at 3 cards at once.

and 1 ps3 can't run cod4 at more than 600p  a 8800gt can double that no problem not to mention ps3 runs cod4 @ 30fps max same with unreal 3 which looks best on pc and runs faster.
what game on ps3 looks better than crysis and has destructable environments as large?
Maybe that quad motherboard from AMD might max out Crysis.
PS3_3DO
I could care less if it makes any difference, I can run med and it still looks and plays way better than any 360 game

SLI doesnt double the power of the video card or triple in this case.
A next gen card has a better chance than that setup.
