4+ Co-op Really Bad Idea For Halo???(nevermind, minor self-ownage)

When it was confirmed for 4-player co-op in Halo 3 online, I couldn't shake this feeling that it would make the game insanely easy, even with a scaled up difficulty.

Halo is designed so that you can't bring 10 weapons to a fight ala Goldeneye. The SP experience will be marred because you can bring a Sniper, a Heavy Arms guy, a Assault Rifle scout type and a Sword guy to the same fight. That's awesome in MP but anyone who has played the Halo campaigns 1/10 of what I have knows this destroys the fundamental brilliant simplicity that is the Halo SP formula.

On an added note, I hope there are special acheivement designations for those who beat say Legendary without the help of three fellow Spartans.

So am I just paranoid or do I raise a few eyebrows?

EDIT: Also don't post "if you don't like it then don't play it." Oh course I'll play it, never said I wouldn't. I just feel that being able to take 8 weapons or 3 sniper rifles into a battle will deny the players of the challenge of having to choose what weapons to bring into battle.

You are paranoid. If you do not like the idea of 4-player co-op do not participate in it. It is really that simple. Maybe they will increase the amount of enemies or increase the difficulty even more for each player that joins.

I remember beating the original halo on legendary was much, much harder on your own rather than in co-op in which it was more "heroic" standard. Who knows theymay knock up the enemy count for 4 player co-op or maybe they'll take away some of your marine chums.

i dont think is gonna be as easy as you think.if they added this feature is because they know what they are doing.they are smart dev but we can judge once the game comes out

You die an awful lot easier in co-op, i find.... I can beat legendary, yet when i tried co-op on heroic with my buddy we both sucked.

Oh no, oh course I'll be participating, no doubt about it. It still allows you to bring 8 different weapons to a fight, which is extremely cool, but not extremely Halo.

On the original halo Co-Op was simply "one of us stay away where its safe, while the other kamakizes into battle taking on as many as they can". Thanks to the inifite respawn, which was fixed in Halo 2 legendary.

I wonder if any one of your 4 buddies die, do you have to revert to the last checkpoint? (Just like in Halo 2, or I dubed it Player's Hell)

You completely missed the point. Oh course I'll be trying it if it's there but it destoys the fundamental combat of Halo: limited weapons and weapon choice. Everyone is ignoring this fact.

I'm pretty sure Halo CE had co-op. Let's see if my maths skills are up to par.

Sniper + Magnum + Shotgun + Rocket Launcher = Four weapons.

Each player can hold two weapons.

Four divided by two = 2.

Looks like you can pick up those four weapons before the end of the battle.

The Final Run was awesome becauseyou could'nt bring all available weapons into the battle, or have 3 snipers. 4 player co-op prevents the one or two players from having to choose which weapons to take and which to leave, if the same thing happens in Halo 3, which I'm sure it will. Understand my point?

On the original halo Co-Op was simply "one of us stay away where its safe, while the other kamakizes into battle taking on as many as they can". Thanks to the inifite respawn, which was fixed in Halo 2 legendary.

I forgot about halo 2 :P

Maybe it will be okay then. If like "hermitkermit" said; if one of the 4 dies then everyone reverts back to checkpoint, this will hopefully make the co-op being even better. With more emphasis on squad like combat.

Are we to assume that at some point in Halo 3 they just present you with all the weapons and you take your pick? For a Halo fan you sure don't give Bungie any credit.

Why does no one address the main point of the thread? Weapon choice andlimited weapons will be a non-factor now. As far as me? Oh course I'll play it, it just seems like it's alost novelty. Why is everyone attacking me instead of addressing my point?

Wow, you are looking at this way too technically. If I were playing the game I could care less about who has what weapons, all I care about is having fun shooting aliens with my friends. You don't know how they are going to approach the co-op this time around. If they are smart they will increase the difficulty substantially per player.

Halo and Halo 2 both had crappy co-op respawn systems. In Halo 3 you should only respawn at checkpoints or after a battle. Or it's too easy (Or just stupid in Halo 2s case).

i sure bungie wouldnnt have put it there if it was goin to make things too easy. the enemy numbers and strength will be balanced accordingly. chances are if the rumour of special co-op only levels is true then the 4 player co-op might just be for that and leave the campaign at 2. either way im sure it will work well.

A) it's not an arguement, it's a discussion. No, they're not the same thing.

B) What post? This one where you say how 2 people can pick up 4 weapons in Halo 2? Well yeah, having beaten Halo 2 94 times, I don't think I need a lecture on the Halo 2 combat system. There would be an exponential diffenerce with 4 players, particulally with 3 snipers or 3 RLs.

...yes, I keep track...yes I've posted this many times before...

C) I give Bungie more credit than anyone I know, nevertheless, lack of having to choose which weapons to take and which to leave, I don't care if it's 1 or 16 player co-op, will severly affect the Halo combat experience. This cannot be denied, only discussed.

It probably Will be easier to beat the game with 4 people rather than just 1. But I also do think that Bungie will make it harder with 4 player co-op than it would be with just 1 person.

Also, in Halo and Halo 2, you start each level with certain guns. In most, if not all levels, not all the guns are even available.

No, I don't think it will be "too easy" to beat the game with 4 players.... But I DO think it will be AMAZING FUN!:D

It's not that, it's just that a big part of the Halo experience, at least for me and most hardcore Halo SP players, ishaving to choose our armaments for each upcoming battle. You mustchoose wisely, especially on Legendary. "Get the biggest gun you can find and fill the air full of lead" simply does't work for Halo. I just fear for the integrity of the game.:)

Stop looking at it as singleplayer and start looking at it as four player co-op.

I swear I still remember me and my broyher staring in disbelief at how insanely hard "Legendary" on Halo 2 was. It brought me to my knees..... I was whipped... :shock:

Yeah I hope it is not that way either, but I am not worried about it. I am confident that Bungie will do the right thing. I hope that this game is insanely difficult on the highest difficulty and even more arduous when 4 players enter the mix.

TC, you're missing the point of 4-player co-op. It's there for fun to play with your friends. It's not there to be the biggest challenge you've ever faced. That's what SP on Legendary is for.

think of it this way, you spit ammo 4 ways, it will be very limited, especially if you focus on snipers

I got it. Add another difficulty level. After "Legendary" then there is "Damn!" It takes 3 Spartans to bring down 1 grunt. Now thats replayability.... :lol:

Bungie did say that now on Legendary a small pack of Grunts can "easily dispatch" a pair of unalert Spartans.

Well, with the game having so many different modes, I think we'll have plenty to do.
