[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"]I think that we all need to remember that Sony has had a $500 GB model out now for a few months that did come with 5 free Blu-Ray movies, and while it helped, it was not some huge, blow the others out of the water numbers.
This would help Sony out, but it would not be a death blow by any means. It could help even the field a bit though.

The blu-ray movies are not as important, in my opinion.
But the closer they can shave that pricepoint down to a more mass-market level, the more successful the platform will be. I think Sony is holding back right now because it doesn't want a mass-market-priced PS3 to hurt PS2 hardware and software sales, but it seems as if they are positioning themselves for the transition.
The recent share sales by Sony indicate that they may be planning to subsidize another PS3 price cut. The 40gig, 80gig configuration seems wiser to me than a straight cut of the 80gig down to $499. But we'll see.
I will be buying the 80 GB with MotorStorm, since a free $60 game > a $25 or so movie any day in terms of free "gifts".
However, like I feel with MS, the multiple price points are a terrible thing for game companies that are trying to (at least they claim) the more casual set. Multiple price points and features (even in the PS3's case) just confuse and fragment the potential market, and is partly why Sega started to go down the tubes in terms of hardware.
One model would be best for both the PS3 and 360 IMO, and IMO it would be the Premium 360 at $300-325 and the 60 GB PS3 for $400
