Poll 4K Console - Who lied more? (126 votes)
Who is lying more when it comes to advertising their console?
I think they both as bad as each other

I think both mid step consoles have been a disappointment.
Both MS and Sony have over promised and under delivered.
Both in way over their heads. A proper 4K/60fps is very difficult to pull off, even on high end PC hardware. It is silly to claim that these consoles are 4K systems. They should have come out with better CPUs so they can at least do 1080p/60fps on all games.
Sony said some BS, but at least they were telling people about checkboard rendering and dynamic 4K up front. MS said NO such things, but let Digital Foundry do their dirty work for them. They continued to run with the narrative of True 4K and uncompromised power and it's been anything but. "Microsoft" and "the truth" have been mutually exclusive since the console was announced.
They're both pretty bad. It's a shame buztz words work so well with the average consumer. People don't make educated purchases.
The part where Msoft had to make up their own term "True 4k"
Rofl.
True 4K has been used for quite some time by several other companies, look it up before posting crap!
I don't give a shit about other companies. I know what is 4k and what isnt. Having another one lying in the mix does not help. How many of those other companies are relative to this forum topic? Way to sidetrack.
MS. They tout True & Uncompromised 4k throughout their marketing campaign, which I feel is borderline deceptive.
They are still both 4K consoles. Most of the games run higher on 1080P on both machines. To see the benefits of this you need a 4K TV which means they are both 4K consoles. Pretty easy to figure out I think. I am happy with both of my purchases and games do look better on both machines.
I personally don't care about the native 4K claims, I wish developers actually did the checkboard thingy and tricks like supersampling to squeeze every last drop of visual fidelity out of their games and use the extra resources toward spicing the games up with visual niceties.
Both PR machines are on full force using lying techniques around the 4k word. Sony is f***in worse as the pro is no where closer to it. Sony PR got devs going out there saying things like "For our 4k mode we chose 1440p with temperal AA, we think its the best choice for the game". Gotta always make sure the word 4k is used and it was a choice cause ps4pro has a 4k mode baby.
Both companies overhyped their newest consoles. Both are capable of native 4k, but none is powerful enough to run most current gen AAA games at that resolution.
As i always have been saying, 4k should wait for 9th generation, for hardware capable of handling 4k60 without compromisses.
LOL you're right. 12 FPS is for sure the definitive version that's for sure.

Unfinished game is unfinished. My goodness your slick.
Also, 0 fps on the PS Bore Poo... Cry Mooaar. :P
Microsoft by far, they delivered an absolute flop.
Sony overdelivered, they promised improved performance at a very affordable price point. They ended up delivering the only professional console experience on the market.

have you actually watched the video, especially the point about Sony advertising 4k on games that done deliver any where near 4k?
just asking.

They advertise there system here all day long as a 4k gaming machine, which is frankly a utterly lie as barely anything runs at 4k on it.
And what does professional console experience even mean? how are a bunch of game boxes professional?

Piranha seems to have his head up Sony's ass...lol. Anyone who isn't a hardcore lem or cow can see that this is both; Microsoft & Sony's fault. In terms of this thread, which company lied more seems to fall slightly more onto Microsoft...
neither, I dont remember them saying that all games will be 4k - 60 fps.
This!
But I'm just gonna say both Sony/MS are way over there heads with 4K, it's soooo not ready on consoles and the Pro/Xbox One X is already showing it's not. 4K is hard business on a high-end PC.
I'm not keeping track of that stuff, what I do know is the X has delivered for me.... the upgrade is substantial, even game-changing in some games, no pun intended......and many of those games are either Native 4K or a close imitation to it, as DF recently put it....so 1800P or whatever. Dynamic Res and all that. Bottom line is my 4K TV is getting a good use out of this console, if that makes sense. Cheers

If anything, it's better to advertise them as great 1080p machines.

True, and you would of thought after coming off the flop of the Xbone reveal in 2013 where they blatantly and with malicious lied to the general public, they would learned.
LOL ?
I don't give a shit. I know which one performs better in my living room. Thank you Microsoft and God bless the United States

Would be nice if Pro/Xbox One X was all about 60fps only. 1080p/60fps is what X1X should have corrected and MS didn't learned nothing from Pro's mistake. High resolution is always been eye candy, not saying it's a bad thing, just don't get carried away.

Yeah, hell, I still think it's pointless to own a 4K TV when getting 4K on Netflix or Amazon Prime requires faster internet, especially when everyone that isn't a HT Enthusiast use WiFi to connect their devices to the internet.

Especially when most people don't even have 4K TVs yet, or have TVs smaller than 60 inches, where you can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4K.
