For some they may just like the "realism" in CoD, which is fine, but realism isn't superior to any other kind of style. All reasons why people would buy CoD, but none that really have anything to do with actual quality.

Really, it's much more complex to analyze a game's or anything's popularity really just by sales, because some people may buy things for the wrong reasons, like, again, when kids want to just "fit in." And with the McDonalds argument, more people bought McDonalds not because it is higher quality, but because it is cheaper. Another reason to buy something that ignores quality.

And I must wonder, if you really think popularity = quality, than do you also think that Justin Bieber is one of the best musicians out there in this day? Do you believe that the Twilight series is one of the best book series of this generation?

I'm more than fulfilled with my two consoles and two PCs (one's old, the other is new). That and with an impending phone purchase (probably iPhone) I just can't stomach a handheld.

Oh yeah, I've known it and I've considered between a DS and PSP multiple times. But when its time to commit I just can't. I'd be crazy to tell you I'm not excited for Luigi's Mansion 2, because I've been waiting for a sequel to that game for 10 freaking years. And what do Nintendo do? Put it on the 3DS.... :(

Well I may just check them out depending on how the game pans out for me. I do see myself enjoying it regardless. I'm even being crazy and playing it with the default control scheme. I remember when I played stuff like Wolf3D and Doom II: Hell on Earth like this. God what a terrible control layout, but I really want this to be authentic. :P

Of course with Duke, it's a Doom-styIe shooter so you don't look up. When it came to Shogo I immediately gave it a modern control scheme just because enemies can fire from anywhere.
