What should we call our growing collection of XBox refugees? Lemmits? Hermings?

Dunno. Creepers?

REASON #

6. To make lemmings feel better about the PS4 being nearly 50% more powerful than xbox one.

correction--actually that should be reason # 1. because that is the reason this thread was made.

@lostrib: I don't see it. Here's a screen capture of the window that pops up after right clicking computer and selecting properties.

I agree with your number one because those have become the "craze" this gen. If its of dire importance, why settle for console? "well PS4 is a better value". No. I can do a helluva lot more with my PC than I can with a console.

Yes, yes that's it

While the majority of older games work on windows, there are still some compatibility issues. For example, Oddworld Abe's Oddysee's cutscenes don't work on Windows 8; I've been having to use a laptop that has Windows 7 to get a working complete experience.

That being said backwards compatibility is leagues above consoles, and the overall preservation of the past, for not only Old PC games but old console games, still gives PC an advantage.

Run it in Windows XP mode (select from properties) . I was having same issue with Warcraft 3 on Windows 7 but it solved my problem .

Hmmmm... where do I go from properties. I'm not seeing the option; I have Windows 8. The game runs fine on Windows 7.

You have to select the program first.

I cannot find the .exe on my computer. I've been launching it from the Steam Browser. I've searched my computer for steam or oddworld files and nothing shows up.

OP is too ashamed to support XPOSBONE openly in public so he's hiding behind PC. Sad times when lems can't be themselves and have to hide behind PC.

Because I couldn't find an Oddworld .exe file anywhere, I decided to make a shortcut icon on my desktop from the steam browser. I clicked properties, but there is no compatibility properties for Oddworld. Thinking it might be because it's a steam game, so I clicked properties and changed steam to run in XP; it didn't make a difference. The cut scenes in Abe's Oddysee are still choppy and unwatchable. Not sure if there are any other suggestions; this seems to be an exceptional case because Abe's Exodus is able to run the cut scenes without a hitch... I'm more than half way through Abe's Oddysee right now playing it on a PC that can actually run it (Windows 7 installed on the girl friend's laptop), but I was just using this as an example that running games old games on new tech isn't always as grand as it's made out to be. If I do get Oddworld working on my PC it will be after hours of searching for a solution.

So in the exceptional case of the original Oddworld Abe's Oddysee, it might be easier albeit more costly to buy the original PS1 disc and pop it into a PS3 or buy the game on PSN.

If you select the game on Steam, right click it and select properties and the "Local files" tab. If you select "Browse local files", the EXE should be in there.

This topic has been rehashed more times than the entire Madden series, Pokemon titles, and Dynasty Warriors COMBINED.

All your post does is re-cap what's been drummed repeatedly, ad nauseam, and not one new thing has been added. In other words, we have a winner for both "Captain Obvious" and most unoriginal topic award right here.
