1. Flagship for totally new version of Source 2. PC exclusive, never to be released on a console 3. Online co-opprinceofshapeir
2. Why not on consoles? None of Valves games have been consolised, despite having multiplay Portal 2 and TF2, Valve has continued to support PC.
3. L4D is already their flagship co-op title. They may have co-op, but not in the main campaign.
I came here just to say that, i want an official announcement confirming its development first. One think that I want in HL2: it's existence.

I want Half-Life 3 to be the next definitive PC shooter. If it has to be released for consoles, it should be released a year or so after the PC version and be noticeably inferior. Half-Life is a PC series first and foremost and any development time spent porting it to consoles will subtract from the PC version. There's no harm in making additional, non-storyline related co-op levels, and with the gravity gun the possibilities are endless.Better mechanics than what's in games these days. HL series always had new cool stuff like physics puzzles along with great shooting mechanics. But im starting to wonder if it will transition well nowadays. A lot has changed in gaming since they released the last one
This, Half Life should not exist on consoles. Mario belongs on Nintendo, Gran Turismo on Playstation and Halo on Xbox. Half Life has always been the flagship title of PC gaming in my eyes, a series that raises the bar with each installment and new engine built for it, mouse and keyboard are the only acceptable input methods for a HL game :). I love myself some killzone but HL has its own home.[QUOTE="AgentA-Mi6"][QUOTE="princeofshapeir"]1. Flagship for totally new version of Source 2. Lovely mentality there.
Let fewer people enjoy the game. What a silly mentallity.
To me, HL2 was never a game that couldn't work on consoles. It's just better on PC. So why no multi-plat release? It didn't take anything away from Portal 2.

Yeah, the HL series has been on consoles since the first got ported to PS2, so I don't think Valve would take it away with all the extra dough the console versions would get them. Plus, as mentioned, its not exactly some super complex RTS series that would need to be significantly altered to work on consoles, its just a fun and well done shooter game, and if the issue it technology then I'm sure it will be fine still look amazing if it comes out for the next generation of consoles instead of the current generation.
1) In terms of level design, closer to the first than the second - slightly less linear, a lot of adventure-y puzzle solving and backtracking to complete various objectives (the tentacle monster in the first game is an example)
2) A new engine, which pushes the graphical limit, per se, to the extent that HL2 did back in '04. Large improvements to the AI, gun mechanics, etc.
3) Lots of incredibly spectacular environments. If the plot is based around the Borealis, there is definitely some potential for this.
4) Some new physics based innovation we haven't really seen in an FPS before. Since Aperture would be involved, the Portal gun, perhaps.
5) Far less vehicle sections, or rather emphasis on vehicle sections.
1. Large campaign with the same distinct HL soundtrack and the feeling you're in a real area thanks to the quick loads.
2. Better combat, but leaning more towards action (HL1 with plenty of bullets and crazy weapons) and not survival horror. HL1 has great pacing where there's never a shortage of enemies and there's plenty of variety.
3. Less puzzles or better puzzles. HL2 took the piss with the puzzles they implemented, might as well stick me in a nusery school and give me a 6-piece jigsaw puzzle to complete. Make it KotOR standard at least.
4. Same grand-scale story where there's always something shrouded in mystery i.e. Gman.
5. Bring back the HL1 bosses and aliens. Some of the most epic moments in HL were coming across the tentacles, the blue monster, tanks, Nihilanth, Gonarch and that green thing in Opposing Force.

Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortess 2, Counter-Strike, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have all been on consoles, why would Valve stop now? There is no reason that Episode III/Half-Lfie 3 should/would not release on consoles. Saying Valve is an exclusive computer developer, or saying that the Half-Lfie series is exclusive to the computer is about as rediculous as saying that the Metal Gear Solid series or Final Fantasy series is exclusive to the Playstations. :|
The vehicle-sections were fun!DrHousesCane
- 20 hour SP campaign
- Reworked AI
- A somewhat bigger focus on Survival Horror, kind of like the Ravenholm part of HL2
- Reworked Gunplay
- NO VEHICLE SECTIONS

Yeah, Half-Life has NEVER been PC exclusive, so why start now? Especially when Valve and Sony are becoming BFF's and former (semi) PC exclusive stuff like Counter Strike is moving onto consoles, I doubt they'd be willing to lose console money off their flagship franchise.
Besides, I don't get all the whining. Why exactly wouldn't you want it on consoles? So less people could enjoy it? Because that's selfish reasoning if you ask me, and that "consolized" BS doesn't work when you talk about Valve.
Things to see: 1) NO BULLET SPONGE ENEMIES 2) Make enemies something to fear - Marines in Half Life 1 were far more menacing (even if scripted) 3) make the environment react to bullets ala F.E.A.R./Red Faction 4) Less vehicle sections where you use a gun turret. Vehicles are okay for traveling 5) Keep the dialogue and story to an absolute minimum. TruestGamerThe enemies die quickly if you hit them in the head :P.

I actually prefer enemies with more health since it seems like unbelievable then me taking out weak guys by the hundreds.
RAGE definitely did enemies right. The AI was nearly perfect, with enemies that had searching animations, idle animations, scared animations, flanking, injured animations, etc. They took a lot of bullets but never felt like bullet sponges since a good headshot was enough, and shooting them would cause them to stumble or fall, which was incredibly awesome.
Seriously, playing RAGE, then playing another game (except perhaps Killzone or FEAR, both of which have awesome AI) makes me kind of hate the game I'm playing more because the AI isn't epicredible. I really hope Half-Life 3 focuses on AI, since even in 2004 I thought HL2's AI felt dated. They just stood there and took pot shots at me... ugh.
Nice trolling bro.The last thing I want is for HL3 to take any cues from that mediocre game called Bioshock.

No trolling, Bioshock is just not a very good game. It has a great story and great atmosphere, I'll give you that, but the gameplay (and gunplay) is just atrocious, the level design is really poor, the moral system is primitive and ends up being boring as hell.
