Anyways the ps3 has free online and blu-ray.

http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=blu-ray&tag=googhydr-20&index=dvd&hvadid=2588746397&ref=pd_sl_8158z379su_b

Dark Knight $20.49
Iron man $23.99

Oh wait thats more 12 months of xbox live gold.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16874103129

Look at that xbox live 12 months $40.

Well cows claim the $40 per year is to expensive for few better things than psn.Wait a second......... blu-ray is just a tab bit better than dvd but its a huge reason to get a ps3 ? Yes I know the ps3 can play dvds but thats not the point. Cows like to use blu-ray as a reason to buy a ps3 over the xbox 360 yet there not willing to look at the cost of the actual blu-ray movies. Now this is if your only going to buy only 2 blu-ray movies a year which is kinda low for someone who is hyping there blu-ray player.

Ok flame shield ready.

Freaking Sony. They're so silly. Adding a feature like Blu-Ray playability and forgeting to factor in the price for all the blu-ray movies that people could buy to own. Yes, hey! You also forgot to factor in all the games that could potential be bought too.

$40 is actually pretty good.

I just think Silver members should be able to access the most basic of basic online features: like playing a game they paid $60 for online. Even if they couldnt voice chat or whatever.

Because it really doesn't. Unless you're an extreme videophile. The bottom line is, you're not missing out on much if you watch a movie on DVD rather than Blu-ray.

If you have a high def television over 40 inches Blu-ray destroys dvds. On a 46 inch television, it's even more obvious.

This is it exactly. Xbox is the only service that costs money. It's in the best interest of Xbox owners for people to notice that PSN and PC offer comprable services for free. It's foolish to just accept that something that should be free now costs $50.

Things got a bit hairy at the end of your post, but I think I got the general idea. You're saying that with 50 bucks I could have 2 movies in 1080p and play all my games online on the PS3, or I could have zero movies at DVD quality and play my games online on the 360. The only thing I don't understand is how that makes the 360 look better?

I guess if you hated the movies you listed, you cold claim the Live fee was saving you from making a bad movie purchase...

No, it isn't expensive. But it still isn't something you should have to pay for in the first place.

I was downloading Shadow Complex on Live the other night, and the download was going MAYBE 400KB/s. This, despite the fact that I paid for the game on top of a monthly fee for Gold.

In contrast, I had to redownload the Aion client on Steam that same day (on Windows 7 now; reinstalling my games little by little.) I was getting 4-5 times that speed throughout the entire 8GB download, and I don't pay a monthly fee of any sort for the service.

Remember, it's not like you're getting dedicated servers for the money. You're still have a host with host advantage. One of the noticable differences with PSN is several games have dedicated servers so no one gets an unfair advantage.

Gears of War is the only one with host advantage because Epic doesn't know how to make a game.

Yea but to get the best out of playing games on the PS3 you dont have to pay for playing online. And if you strip down all the features to the core for each online service, just the playing of games online, then they are exactly the same but with some PS3 exclusives having dedicated servers to reduce lag, while 360 games having PvP. You add in all the extra features then what? You have to pay for just playing online, Microsoft should of made the ablity to chat in-game and play online free and then made gamers pay to do all those other nifty features that no doubt some lemming is going to list. That would of been the smarter thing to have done from our point of view but useless from theirs. Both Sony and Microsoft are companies, no matter how much anyone would like to think, they arn't here to make us happy, just make us happy by making us spend lots of money on their items! Again, you don't have to buy Blu-ray movies to play games. The point of cows saying that Blu-ray is a huge reason to get a PS3 is because the PS3 is still one of the best Blu-ray players on the market! The PS3 has a higher value.

So it's not enough, that M$ has their hands in your pocket. You want Sony to take a dip too. And not just yours, all of ours. I have a suggestion for you. Since you have all these money you're willing to give out. Why don't you just send Sony a check? I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

The only other game that has a host "advantage" is Halo, but it's not overpowered like Gears. In Halo, for host the hitbox is smaller which really only comes into play in the MLG playlist.

The graphics between the 360 and the PS3 isn't due to the difference between DVDs and Blu-ray discs. So far, the extra space on Blu-ray has only been to store uncompressed audio. Since the debate here is about DVD and Blu-ray, I'm talking more movies than games. The entry pricepoint for Blu-ray just isn't worth it to a lot of people. I mean, sure, you'll watch the movie is greater detail and resolution, but you're still watching the same movie on a DVD. And the resolution/crispness of the image isn't THAT much worse than a Blu-ray movie.

I don't complain about the $50 because it is too much (look who's speaking.. the one who has PC and PS3 :P) I just hate the concept and thus I reject it, I don't support these services because they are costly but because I don't accept to pay extra money to use my own net, the concept is wrong in my book and will stay so until all gaming systems require fees for all online-featured games then I'd quit (it won't be happening tho :D)

[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]Regular DVD's still cost money, whereas other online services are free compared to XBL.Racer850
Your missing the point, Cows use blu-ray as a reason to buy a ps3.

Nope, just pointing out the fail in his logic. BR is far better than DVD, the Live/PSN gap really isn't as significant.

Ok flame shield ready.

druggyjoe3000

well i dont know about everybody else who has ps3 but imo id rather have blu ray then xbox live because i would never use all of xbox live's features

I've said this since day one.. PS3 supporters tout bluray as a big sell for the PS3 platform, however they always fail to mention the actual cost of a bluray movie.. I should know as I own several of them and I've not had my PS3 for a year yet.. When you've paid $100+ for movies on a bluray player.. $50 a year seems minimal..

*looks over and see his 60+ 360 games, and realizes he has no retail ps3 games only psn games since he sold off most of his ps3 games he never plays*

[QUOTE="clubsammich91"]I'm already paying a monthly fee for my ISP, I shouldn't have to pay a penny more than that for online gaming.heretrix

You pay because you chose to.There are other alternatives.

Not really. If I want an internet connection I have to pay a fee. Unless you know some magical way to get free internet, that's how it is.(Do you? Cause that would be great!)

Yea, $1 a week is expensive.

Unassigned
That adds up to 52 dollars a year. To some that's not a lot but you are paying to use your internet connection which you've paid for to connect with the console which you've bought to play a game online which you've already purchased. Do you see why 50 dollars a year is just....stupid?

One full day of work can pay for a year of Xbox LIVE. It's not expensive. Everyone just needs to chill the **** out.

So explain to me how spending upwards of $10 extra for a blu ray movie is any better?

LIVE is junk, i can play colonies lost planet on SLI for free against Xbox people. It lags like hell and it should not cost anything. Long time ago you had to paying for it like on Xbox but it failed. Now its for free on PC and SLI.
