GTA came out on years on the Xbox after the PS2. San Andreas sold 17 million on the PS2, this was the PS2's biggest hit and they gave it to the 360 like nothing.

Resistance 2 is already forgotten. No one cares about it anymore, even though it hasn't even been a month after it launched.

GTA made its splash on the PS2, and by the time it went to the PC and Xbox it was leftovers. There is no way you can spin this, the PS4 might not be as bad as the PS3, because Sony has already used its trojan horse for the PS3. So maybe they will take the PS4 more seriously.

If Resistance 2 was as good as Gears of War 2, it would have sold like Gears 2 did (obviously, with the PS3's almost non-existant userbase, it couldn't have sold 2 million its first day, so more like 800,000 first day). It's an exceptional game, but it's not up there with Half-Life, Goldeneye, Call of Duty, Halo, Gears, etc. etc. It's a mid-tier FPS.
