[QUOTE="CubanBlunt"]And this is 360 users saying this.SpruceCaboose
Or anyone with an internet connection. Just cuz its on an Xbox fan site does not mean that is all that can visit that site...
But the vast majority are Xbox fans so you would expect it to actually be less. I'm guessing the 70% claim wasn't that far off.
[QUOTE="The_Crucible"]Not reliable, dude. People could say whatever being pissed or something. Not a good source. And I don't think anyone thinks failures are that high.CubanBlunt
So you are calling 360 fanboys liers?
They are obviously not true 360 fanboys =/ a real fanboy would continue to vouch for MS even on their 5th console
strange i have about 20 friends who have 360s, only my manager has had to replace his, not the rrod. maybe his kids did something to it, they broke his wii as well :O
so now i should make a thread, 360 has a 5% failure chance, proof inside
[QUOTE="CubanBlunt"]http://www.xboxnerds.com/Xbox-360/news/xbox-360-suffering-from-61-failure-rate-/
Microsoft continues to report its standard 4-5% failure rate, but a recent 360-gamers survey claims it's higher...much, much higher. The survey generate 3780 submissions and 2355 comments, most of them from gamers who are upset about their broken 360s. At the time of the results posting, 2,315 complained they've already gone through at least one console, and that translates to a shocking 61% failure rate. The site admits their figures are "probably skewed towards the negative" (which is true), but even so, the findings are very unfortunate.
Participants also complained of "lacking consumer confidence" and shoddy customer service from Microsoft's camp.
"This system is poorly manufactured and should have never passed QC. The only reason it passed QC was because MS wanted to launch first so they could make a profit... at the disregard of the consumer," says Gamertag mantis01, who then finsihes: "Shame on you, MS. I will now switch my gaming loyalties to Sony."
That's a little drastic, but even so, this defective problem has not been erased by Microsoft, despite their best efforts. Or perhaps those efforts aren't their best.

Well...im already on my 3rd console...i think you can add me to that stat :lol:
Me to.When you see surveys like that you pretty much can cut that number in half which puts it in the standard 33% failure rate range. I personally think the failure rate is higher though. I don't know a person who hasn't had issues with their 360 and I know at least 10 guys who own a 360. My brother-in-law being the lucky one with only one RRoD in one and a half years of owning one. He hardly uses his 360 though!gdp72
So you're citing a 90% failure rate?
Because informal polling is obviously the most accurate form of research :roll:.PBSnipesYea really. I couldn't help but laugh while reading that part myself and stopped reading there.
@TC
Thanks for the good laugh.
Polls ARE a good source of research because it's first hand responses from the consumer. They have no reason to lie, whereas Microsoft does. Pulling the BS about their 4-5% fail rate is understandable to make their product look better. Microsoft has never been known to be a source of good products: Winblows, the 360 is a good console in terms of games but not faultiness wise and everything else they release is more or less bit from other people's ideas (AHEM APPLE) but they manage to make it crappier. But I have 2 friends who both had to send their 360's in on the count of the red circle thing within 5 months. PS3's have a failrate of something like 0.3% i heard. And I believe that as they sell their systems in 10 year life product cycles. My friend has had his PS2 since 2001 and it still works perfectly and never had any issues. GO SONY!HunidRacks
I'm going to trust you are new to the internet.
[QUOTE="shoeman12"]how can you trust a poll? most of the people who responded were probably cows who wanted to skew the results. i could make a poll about ps3 failure rates and achieve similar results because a lot of lemmings would vote falsely.HunidRacks
Yeah because Micro$oft is so honest about their supposed 4-5% Xbox 360 failure rate which is 10 times that and that they DON'T count every 360 replacement as a sale for the sale charts. sigh, idiots.
Are you referring to yourself? I ask because it is obvious accurate data on this is very hard to come by. You state another unreliable source and then state idiots.

:lol: I didn't even see that. He must be new to the nets. :lol: I needed that, been a long day.
so basicly almost every lemming has to buy at least two X360s ... in order for one of them to be working withour RROD ?
samiup
Uhh, I've heard of people doing this so they have one remaining while they ship the other out for repairs.
Of course, I've never actually seen anyone do this.
It's like rewarding the company that shafted you by paying them. Again.

So you are calling 360 fanboys liers?
They aren't 360 fanboys. If they were, they wouldn't be complaining. In fact, they would probably buy 5 360s from MS and ignore the RROD without a single complaint.61% failure rate??? wow thats a lot... in fact the failure rate of some consoles is the reason why I sold all my consoles and why I am using only my pc... if something goes wrong with pc's, i can replace the broken part, if something goes wrong with a console, i have to buy a new one...herezjarchus
MS replaces or fixes your console.. If your video card blows, you can be out 500$ just as well.
I agree though, MS wanted to much money, it was ready to screw us the customers.
For that I wil not purchase a 360.
Sliverwarrior
For that ihave dumped my 360 and am now the proud owner of an 80GB PS3, i was having to many problems with the 360 and MS customer service so i broke it off with them. I am having a blast with uncharted, cod 4, assassins creed, and i am not much into racing games but motorstorm is actually fun.

Gamertag? I'm conducting a test of a theory.

What, that not every person out there is into on line gaming?:? Again, if you have PS3 try and find me on PSN. I'll give you a hint to what my sign-own name, it's in front of you. That's what I've used for a lot of electronic devices in the past!

Lessee, all PS3 games, a PSN tag, you didn't go on Live because you weren't into online gaming (yet you STILL have a PSN tag)...
Sorry, I'm just fiding all these claims from people who have these similar aspects that they had a 360 and sold it because it was awful questionable.

It happens, you can question it all you want. I like what Microsoft has to offer but the hardware is questionable right now and that bothers me. Not to the point to where I will deny that the 360 has and had a great line up of exclusive games, one that Sony surely needs to work to catch up with. At the same time I'm enjoying the few good exclusives the PS3 has to offer just like the games I played on the 360.

Well said. A great game library (which there is no denying the 360 has) means little if your console is never around to play them.
Failure rate might not be 61%. It might not be 33%. But I can tell you it's higher than acceptable.
