watch those, and you will see. also, halo introduced the "three shot kill". on of the most skillful plays in any FPS game.

leading was present in FPS's long before Halo....and I suspect all the "leading" in Halo is caused by a combination of lag, extra large hitboxes, and a lot of aim assist anyway.
and the 3 shot kill  how at all did that change the way FPS's were played online? plenty of games have things of a similar manner....
your reasons are just laughable.
large hitboxes and aim assist on PC? you are really dumb. lmfao
and in no other online game do you have to lead like this. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

yes, the game had aim assist on the PC...I have no idea why, but for some reason it was kept.

and leading wasnt new in Halo anyway, I dont know which game had it first, but I know Operation Flashpoint had it, and I would be very surprised if Rainbow Six didnt have it.
lol, you should 1v1 me to see how much aim assist there is.....
if you get ONE 3sk...then, ill say you are completely right and it doesn't deserve to be on the list. ive played all the main FPS's, and halo PC is the only one i still play after all these years. quake 3 every once in a while, but meh. to me halo takes the most skill.

also, without halo, you wouldnt have the regenerating health feature that almost every FPS has used since it. also, call of duty 2 would have been completely different. its basically halo in ww2. which is why its the best CoD.

me playing 1v1 agaist you is not gonna change the fact that there is still a astounding amount of aim assist in that game.
and leading, was deffinetly not something that Halo did first.....Since "leading" is something done in real life, tactical shooters made a point of implimenting balistics as soon as possible.....
not that leading is even a remotly inovative enough feature to land it on that list.
those games introduced class based multiplayer, squad systems, chain of commands, multiplayer in general, vehicals....etc.
Halo introduces....leading (it didnt really, but whatever)
the point is leading isnt gonna get it up their ever.
[QUOTE="cobrax75"][QUOTE="JakeTD21"]Hmm.. never played Tribes, what did it do new?Crzy1
I only played it briefly, but I think it might have been the first one to introduce support classes.
Would say that it introduced classes to online gaming, although all the setups were based wholely on preference. Asside from that, it didn't do a whole lot other than jet packs and gravity, but it was the first online shooter that I really got sucked into and didn't quit playing until BF1942.
nope tribes was long after TF on quake, which was the first to popularize class system. TF really should be there. i don't care if it is a mod or not but it needs to gets its due and even people have mention that it was in the retail version of half-life
[QUOTE="PS3_3DO"]Halo 3 is going to set the benchmark for FPS for years to come. Save film feature, Forge real-time editor. cobrax75
neither of which are new at all in PC gaming.
every single game on that list has a game editor, and the majority of games up their have save film feaures.
Not built-in and easy to use like the ones in Halo 3. And the editor in Halo 3 is a game editor not a map one.
Wow, what a terrible list
Here, let me help your sorry little list of games:
Godlo 1
Godlo 2
Godlo 3
Godlo 4
Godlo 5
Godlo 6
Godlo 7
.
.
I realize Halo 4-7 are not out yet, but when they drop they will once again each revolutionize the FPS genre and destroy all other games and genres in its wake as the first 3 did.
Brown52
Hell, none of the crappy Halo series which has been released so far can even begin to compare with the original Tribes, a game released in 1998.
...and revolutionize the FPS genre? Surely no one is actually dimwitted enough to believe that Halo 1, 2, or 3 did anything to revolutionize the FPS genre, its nothing but a been-there-done-that FPS.
This list is actually perfectly legit. The games people are mentioning like cod and halo/ect. didn't do anything new to define team fps games today. They were good and had pretty cool features like halo having a lot of the things the ancestors of fps games had but that was basically after those games came out.
Goldeneye is a pretty godlike game...but face it; It didn't do anything(extremely important ) new to the genre. Maybe the only game that should also be on the list though is TF. It was a mod but became retail as well, I believe. It had a lot of things that were pretty useful to the genre
[QUOTE="cobrax75"][QUOTE="Cute_Red_Panda"]No Halo?useLOGIC
it didnt do anything new....so their isnt any reason it should be up their.
was halo the first to have offhand grenades that you dont have to switch to as its own weapon?
Nope, don't recall if it was the first, but Rainbow Six (1998) allowed you to toss a grenade with a separate key. Actually, two keys, one for an overhand toss, one for ground roll.
Halo does deserve a mention.
You know, its party and matchmaking system. The one that made it far easier for people to form teams?

well having vehicles, turrets, shields, and generators to capture was pretty great for it's time.
You also shouldn't expect them to either. With an open platform like the PC, much of these features come from the community, and because PC developers are less likely to be restricted by publishers. Not to mention, online PC games have over a decade head start.
This is just like comparing a custom M3 with an Acura TL. The Acura TL is a great car, and does some amazing things. However, the features it has can not be comparible to a custom BMW M3.
you just proved my point, this thread is aim towards the pc community, not the console community, it didnt do anything new on the pc....but it did on consoles
Dante2710
His talking about MP FPS games, not console or PC mp fps
[QUOTE="crunchUK"]you forget goldeneye. *insert didn't do anything new*thrones
It didn't, it just bought what was already there to consoles.
It brought localized damage, but it hardly mattered on a pad, plus it had little effect on overall MP FPSes. At least not anuwhere near to be counted in top7The Halo series started CONSOLE muliplayer first player shooters. But as far as shooters as a whole including PC games it really did not do anything new.
[QUOTE="redstormrisen"]Halo does deserve a mention.

matchmaking was done before Halo 2.
Halo 2 did it best though All the reviewers said it in their reviews as far as halo 2 in 2004 it was unmatched at how well it did matchmaking

I think Warcraft 3 had a better system...save for the actuall interface...but it had more matchmaking features than Halo 2 did.
Like the automated tournaments.

I guess your right
but As far as FPS's go Halo 2 was the king of Matchmaking.
