[QUOTE="TOAO_Cyrus1"]Question: Has anyone had a 2006 model die on them? I am not talking about refurbished replacements MS sends you. I mean one actually manufactured and sold in 2006. yermomsboxxAnd also, are those models quiter/not as hot? I'm taking mine back so I might end up with one.

The newer ones have quieter DVD drives but I don't know what the cutoff point is. Any brand new one should have them though. I heard MS fixed a problem with the solders on the circuit board starting with the January 2006 models. That's why they extended the warranty for all 2005 machines. The red ring of death doest't come from overheating. It is caused by solder joints under the GPU breaking from the constant heatup and cool down cycles.
I am just wondering if the newer 360's are breaking or not. I have a Jan 2006 modle and its still going strong a year and some months later.

The components are also far less complex so its easier to spot issues. They are also much cooler and use alot less power so there is less strain on the build materials.

First time I watched Spidy2 with them the sub shook the entire house. It was kinda crazy. My only complaint about them is that the "blow hole" on the sub is big enough for my cat to stick her head in..... (hits throw grenade button).Â

I am hearing too many stories like this. Its one thing that holds me off from buying a 360flazzleSame here. For $300-400, I expect better quality. I got an xbox without any warranty and it is still running fine. But the 360's red light of death totally freaks me out. Don't know when it may happen. I keep seeing people post these too often. Any I will keep my xbox. Wii and ps3 doesn't get these crazy failures. I rather pay 250 for wii or extra for the $500 ps3 20gb.
