The best was Metroid Prime, and games that don't deserve a 96% would be Halo:CE and RE4.

Halo: CE was a decent game, but was definately not the revolutionary title people make it out to be. It influenced a lot of other shooters with it's popularity, but it didn't really do anything new. RE4...Excellent graphics, decent sound and even with that you have yourself a solid 7.5-8.0. The story was weak, the gameplay lacking, the script and voice acting were pathetic, but at least there was some replay value...

*sigh...*

People, Halo is not great for doing "something new," it's great for being a magnificent harmony of a lot of great things all done well at the same time.

wow, left for a little while, and the Poll gained 80 votes, Halo is still in the lead but it has dropped down to 31% of total vote.

Get your votes in, personally, I felt all these were high quality titles, though I do think 96% is a bit high (for me) for Halo.

220 votes in so far!

Halo continues to lead at 30% of the vote, now its time for the next shift of GS members to weigh in.

Bioshock was in the 96% range but its falling. These games have established probably all the reviews they will have.

250 votes in, Halo is still leading with 30% of the vote.

They're all great, but Metroid Prime was the best, imo.

My personal favourites of last gen is a tie between RE4 and MPHaziqonfire

Same here but I give RE4 the edge because of its replay value.

Half-Life 2 and Halo easily out of that list, but I have to give the nod to Halo because of all the LAN party memories it generated. While opinions on Halo 2 are mixed in my little crew, we all agree that Halo is the most fun we've had with a multiplayer FPS on any platform.

Half-life 2is a great game, but not a lot of value with it; if it wasn't for Gary's Mod 10, I would have forgotton about Half-Life 2 a long time ago. Halo, however, has stayed with me all these years because whenever a bunch of my buddies come over, they all want to play Halo -- and there's nothing better than playing Halo System link with a bunch of your friends.

[QUOTE="Nedemis"]I didn't play the xbox for the first 10 months it was out mearly because I was a strict Nintendo fan. Fortunately, one of my co-workers invited me over to his place to play some Halo co-op and to try out Morrowind on the Xbox. Within the week, I had gone out and purchased a xbox SOLELY for Halo only to find that the genre that I enjoy the most (FPS) would be supported the most on the xbox (for a console). AFBrat77

Strangely, your experience was similar to mine. I was a strict PC Gamer (since January 1997) who had no interest in console games until I played my nephew's Metroid Prime. At that point I realized I was wrong in snubbing console games, and I promptly went out and bought a GC and my first (and still fav) console game, Metroid Prime.

LOL, pc gamer turned to a sad sheep? sorry, really hard to believe you were a strict pc gamer.

Most definitely was, my first games were Diablo, Quake, Tomb Raider, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 2, and a game called Rama.

Metroid Prime at the very least belongs in the same group as some of those greats. I'm still as much a PC Gamer as Sheep, even more so, I play Guild Wars every night almost.

that is a tough choice. i loved res 4, i love HL 2 i love, soul caliber and i love prime 1. i voted for prime one because i remember when you first crash land and get out of the ship i was amazined by the game. i could not believe how life like they made the world. it really sucked you in. but i give props to res 4 because it stayed creepy the whole time! half life two because it is the best FPS ever and soul caliber on the dreamcast is the best fighter on a console ever! (notice i did not say arcade)

Diablo was the reason I got heavily into gaming to begin with, it was my first game. Addictive as hell, and it still is the highest rated PC game at GS i believe.

Wow, we are pushing 400 votes now, as I said before, the Halo fans are out in force, no doubt looking for news on Halo 3. Still at 30% of vote.

Oh, that is tough, I've played all of them and they were all amazing games, but I'm gonna have to say Metroid Prime.
