[QUOTE="RyanShazam"][QUOTE="ShadowMoses900"]Most profits made in the movie industry is from ticket sales when released in theaters. Not to mention most movies are only 2 hours long at most a 6 hour game is considered short by gamers. Personally though except for some exceptions both are overpriced imo at full retail price which is why I wait till prices drop on stuff before buying it.Also Movie studios profit twice once at Theaters and again when they are on DVD and Bluray discs.Games are over priced as they are. Many games have the same budget as Hollywood Blockbusters (some even less), and yet games cost $60 and movies cost $20-$30 (depending on Blu Ray).
I don't see why games are so expensive, I rarely buy games when they first come out. I just wait a little while for a price drop. Unless it's a game that is going to be great (Assassin's Creed 3, Black Ops 2).
Last year I bought more games at full price because there were so many great titles. Batman, Uncharted 3, LBP 2, and Skyrim (my GOTY of 2011). Next year it looks like day 1 buys for GTA 5, The Last of Us, and God of War Acension.

If it does happen the industry will crash because I bet no one in SW or anyone who buys games will tolerate that they don't have the opition to buy used games cause some people just can't afford 60 buck games.
[QUOTE="free_milk"]Steam is usually a lot more expensive than PC-retail in my country. Typically the release price is 20% higher than retail. And the prices drops a lot slower on Steam. That said the sales are usually good. But I have seen games on Steam drop 75% and still be more expensive than online retail. If you have a problem with the price then go pc like i did.Steam games relese at 29£ and they always will.
Sushiglutton
a lot of times steam prices are more than double.
borderlands 2 for example cost 40£ and you can find else where for less than 18£
[QUOTE="SolidTy"]I can see the $10 raise. Going from $60 to $100 would cause lots to jump ship or wait for a used copy or price drop. i think most gamers think $60 is reserved for like 3-5 games...everything else is either used, or when its discounted to at least $40 i still think $50 is a perfect price point for games...i know i wouldve bought a lot more games at full price if it was that price....$65 makes me a lot more picky with gamesYeah...no.
If anything, games will go up $10, or not. The end.

We're talking about standard editions bro. Of course limited editions and collector's editions will cost more. F'in dumbass. They do that already with BS collectors edition sets with content that costs them nothing they add 20-30$ ontop of the cost of the game
VendettaRed07
They're already here with this 'season pass' nonsense.getyeryayasoutCos before devs used to mail us discs of extra content for free, right? A game like Borderlands 2 is already bursting with content, it boggles my mind that people complain about DLC and season passes when the stand alone game is already huge and great value...
You must have got robbed. Majoras Mask was NOT $99.We already had $99 games Majora's Mask on the N64 was $99 but it was bundled with the RAM expansion pak. Most of the N64 games were $70-$80 that gen.
I think the game prices will stay the same as they are this gen.

why the heck would any one pay 99 dollars when wii u gams cost 60 , ya im sure sony would be the first to be stupid but then again its already here in fact its past that with call of duty do the math , 15 x 4 =60 60 x 2 =120 lol
Nintendo couldnt get away with raising prices since the wiiu games are no more advanced than what we already have. Sony and MS next consoles will likely have true next gen games and possibly use the rise in dev cost to justify price hikes. Majority of the game dev cost these days besides marketing is all the cinematics and games really cant get any more cinematic than they already are. 1 modder in his free time made Skyrim go from average graphics to one of the best looking pc games. Game dev cost shouldnt go up much at all next gen.why the heck would any one pay 99 dollars when wii u gams cost 60 , ya im sure sony would be the first to be stupid but then again its already here in fact its past that with call of duty do the math , 15 x 4 =60 60 x 2 =120 lol

That's because it's easier to make game content than movie content where you have to actually build physical sets and do physical special effects. It takes the same amount of development time for a well done movie and a game. Lethalhazard
Ridiculous statements all around. Even the largest most massive budget films are in pre-post production for less time than a game is.
With DLC games are getting around that anyways...

Optional content that's usually some throwaway mission or feature that probably would have lessened the review score and that nobody is forced to purchase being $99 is way different than $99 being the lowest available retail price.
