I'm pretty disappointed with the PS3's launch. This is the first time I'm not so hyped over buying a Playstation.

1. $650 tax included for the 60GB PS3 console.
2. There are no " must buy " games.
3. They took out the RUMBLE and add a motion sensor.
4. It didn't hardly improve on it's controller and just added an extra button in the middle of the control and made the back to shoulder button more trigger like.

I am a big Playstation fan and I love the type of games that the system has like Tekken 6, Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, and the Final Fantasy series. The original Xbox I didn't like that much but had some good games like Halo and some FPS. I also like their graphics compared to PS2. But PS2 had better games at the time. I basically had everything except FPS which Xbox had more. But now I have a 360 and I think it's a pretty good system. Great graphics, probably has the best controller out of the 3 systems ( in my opinion please don't be offended and I'm a playstation fan too. ), and have a solid online mode.  Oh and it also have more variety of games now since most game companies are releasing their games on multiple platforms. So Xbox improved in these ways.

1. Xbox original controller was kind of big and bulky but the smaller version that came out later felt better. Xbox360 improved on that and made it a more solid controller.
2. They now got more dibs on more third party games which will be great for everybody.
3. Next gen graphics and gameplay for $300-400.

Okay bottom line is I don't want to play favorites but I love how the 360's doing. I think its a solid system. PS3 on the other hand is not a " must buy " system for me. I'll probably buy it as soon as a really good exclusive comes out for it. I'll probably sell both my " peanuts" just to buy it. But you can't diss a system that's doing great. PS3 may end up being the best in the long run but it's not going to be easy. I still like alot of games that 360 is not getting. Oh and for the Nintendo fans out there. Wii is a secondary system that everybody buys. It's either a PS3+Wii or 360+Wii and for rich people all 3. But I don't think Wii will have the great games like PS3 and 360 does. It will just have fun games.

I wasn't too specific at some points. But you get the point. I'm just saying PS3 is pretty expensive in my opinion and 360 is an optional buy.

So after a whole 3 months of owning a PS3, you're crying about not being able to play as many games as the 360 which has been out over a year +??? Give it time dude, there will be about 30 titles coming out in the month of March alone. The 360 did not have nearly as many games as it does now so cut the PS3 some slack. You paid 600 dollars for a gaming system that will either be on par if not BETTER than the 360 and you get a blu ray player along with it. You also get free online which WILL get better over time, wifi, memory card readers, the ability to charge your controllers without having to purchase a charger, a 60 gig hard drive that you can replace at any time with a larger hard drive without voiding your warranty.... shall I go on? Btw, I don't even notice the rumble feature anymore. I'd rather have a motion sensor based controller which will further enhance gameplay in the future. You never know, Sony might release a controller which features BOTH.

I also forgot to add that I've read articles stating that the Xbox 360 will be replaced in about 3 years time. Just look at the Xbox. It was killed in only 4 years or so. The PS2 is still going strong after who knows how many years. I've lost count.

I understand your point really. I am going to get a PS3 probably when a really good game come out...I mean like $600 good! When you mention that Xbox died in around 4 years. I think Xbox didn't have enough good games but now 360 is better. Hopefully it will last. We'll just have to see. Playstation I know will last a very long time.

My bad man. Didn't mean to offend you. The Nintendo Wii is a great system but it wasn't made to compete with the 360 or PS3. It was made to be a stand alone system and fun for everybody. It's really affordable and everybody can get one. That's why I call it a secondary system. If you won a prize and could choose one system out of the three. Which would you pick out of the three?

I find it annoying when people actually think the Wii is a primary console. . . The simple fact is the Wii is a great party console that I plan on buying and having tons of fun with. But when I want to get down to serious gaming, I'll plug in a 360 (or for you cows out there. . .a PS3).

Too bad. The 360 will be my secondary console. I consider Metroid Prime 3 "serious" (WTF?) gaming. The only thing I'll end up getting for 360 is shooters and maybe an RPG here or there.

Okay so I see that some people choose the Wii as their primary system. There are some great and serious games like Zelda and Metroid and many others. But what games can you compare to Gears of War or Metal Gear Solid 4 that the Wii will have?

I was a jaded PS2 owner who felt betrayed by a company that would not own up to the fact that their optical drives were defective. After two busted PS2s, I went to the Xbox and Halo and unless Sony changes their arrogant attitude, I don't have much desire to go back.

1. $650 for teh PS3 is a good move. Its an investment in teh future potential!111

2. Resistance, Ridge Racer, FF, MGS4, Lair FTW!111

3. Rumble doesnt matter. True Sony fans dont need teh rumble 4 jo0!11

4. But teh contoller  is teh Sixaxxis and it pwns!1

Yes...We know. The PS3 and the term just wait. Just wait till the good games out. Oh wait you were supposed to do that with the PSP and looked what happen. It is getting those good games but at the sametime DS stole a ton of development support away from it and look at what happened. Samething happened with the N64. People said just wait. Of course it is going to get good games. But when is the question? FFXIII due out late 2008 at the earliest in NA. White Knight most likely in mid 2008. MGS in 2008. DMC4 looks to be late this year with high probability of 360 version a bit after(Timed Exculsive). And this is just now. They could be pushed back even further. Why waste the time or money on it now? A Paperweight is the word to describe the PS3. Because that is all it is going to be for quite a while. Why waste money on it now? Why not wait the till late 2008 when you actually have all the games you want to play out? Its like Motorstorm drops in a month. First big PS3 exculsive. Then another wait. Till summer when Warhawks should come out. 360 on the hand is dropping, Crackdown, Guitar Hero 360, DDR Universe, Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, BioShock, Forza, VT3 with Online, C and C 3, and this is just off the top of my head. It is quite simple. Why waste money on poteinal because who knowns when that potienal will be realized

You said you loved the PS2 right? Why because of the games right?

Well did all those games come out for the PS2 within the first 2 months, no of corse not, so what made you think it would be any different with the PS3?

Give it some time people, good games will come out for the PS3, and the price will come down.

I wasn't too specific at some points. But you get the point. I'm just saying PS3 is pretty expensive in my opinion and 360 is an optional buy.

Why dont you add tax,Wi-Fi,Xbox live, plug and play charger and the HD DVD to the price of the 360. Do the math and the 360 isn'tas cheap as it seems.

The wait scenario gets real old.

but payoff aka 360 last year

If your trying to imply the 360 had no launch games, you fail.

Call of Duty 2 alone justified my 360 purchase on day one.

as well as condemned and quake 4.

All of are games where better on the PC.

I kind of understand you, but i think your looking at the controller issue in completley different lights. I mean Sony and Microsoft essential did the same thing in regards to the controller and is/.was the ps2 controller shape bad? and what besides the middle button and shoulder buttons is different about the 360 controller, its essential the S controller with the black and white buttons moved to the shoulder

I just watched the hd video review of resistance on gametrailers, and I've gotta say the game looks really good, good enough for me to wish it was on other platforms. If that isn't a must buy game, I dono what is.

What do you mean you don't need it, I don't a HD DVD drive or a Wi Fi adapter to enjoy my 360 but that doesn't stop you from making out it does.

DaddyDC650

The 360 will be replaced by its next counterpart in 4 yrs, as for the PS2 it will be over 10 yrs old by then!!! Want to guess who its successor will be? The premium 360 will be $150-$200 dollars by that time. People who can’t afford next gen at that time WILL buy a 360. Anyone who disputes this is an outright MORON!!! It would be like opting to buy an old N64 rather than a PS2 now!!! And as for the PS3 game titles coming out in March, I’ve already played most of them on the 360. Do you understand now? MS rushed out last year the way it did, in spite of all the hardware issues at that time, to gain momentum on Sony. By being out first they've built a large library of games, established a huge loyal on-line community,  http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live , and acquired key exclusives; which they are still doing!!!You say that the last gen xbox got killed in 4 years. Well why do you think that happened? Do you think it had something to do with the fact that the XBOX and gamecube didn't come out until 18 months later!!! Sony had that entire market share to themselves!!! They already had brand name recognition with a large and solid install base, and then games like GTA came out which added serious momentum to Sony's cause!!! Now do you understand why MS rushed out first; And why MS fans hype big games like Halo3, Gears of War ,Mass Effect and many more? If you still believe that Sony will just end up in front eventually then you really haven't absorbed anything thing that I’ve wrote here!!! If anything I’ve tried to stress the importance of a console making it out into the market first. Also, the long-term and permanent benefits of doing just that, by using the PS2 as an example. In regards to MS coming out with their next system in 4 years; where do you think graphics are going to be then? Seeing that technology advances so damn rapidly!!! Oh and speaking of technology; Intel just announced its working on a new 80 core processor,  http://www.laptopblog.org/entry/intels-amazing-80-core-teraflop-processor/ , I can’t wait to see what the next XBOX will be like 4 years from now.. sweeeeeet!!!

So you are complaining about something you don't even have, makes perfect sense to me.

You made some very valid and lucid points.  i commend you.

the ps3 just doesn't seem to be the value for gamers when you can buy a 360 and many more games for the price of one ps3 with no games.

the "just wait" defense just doesn't seem to be too credible anymore.  Last generation was nothing but a series of "just wait" concerning the graphics of the ps2, while claiming it harbored "hidden power"....  After 6 years of the ps2 it still just did not live up to the hype nor the graphics of the xbox.

the texture and memory limitations of the ps3 will prevent it from keeping pace with the 360's architecture, memory, outstanding developer support, and more flexible gpu.

However, if you want a ps3 for the bluray capabilities, you must be a 1080p tv owner.  If so, you must have one big enough to enjoy movies on (50 inch or so..)...    if you have the $5000 for such a tv it would  be insane not to buy a dedicated bluray player over the ps3... as the quality will exceed the ps3's playback capabilities.

if you are a gamer and want a console for gaming, the choice is clear;  The 360 is clearly the superior gaming machine.

Heck, even Kuturagi stated, "We've never once called (the ps3) a game machine".....

Hardly the vote of confidence I want when selecting an gaming console...;)

either way, you seem bright enough to make a sound decision.  good luck

I would gladly buy an improved Xbox console in 3 years. Wouldn't even have to think about it. And if it is significantly more powerful than the PS3 (now it's debatably faster, but only in some areas) then I don't see why this would be a bad thing. Unless the PS3 developers pull out a miracle, I don't expect I'll want to play games that look like Resistance in 10 years time.

Bizarre arguement from the cows. "Don't buy a 360 it'll be replaced in 3 years" "the PS2 had a 10 yr lifespan so will the PS3" so in 3 yrs you'll have an obsolete console which will be around for another 7 yrs? And you have to wait at least another year for its good games to come out? Thats a really convincing arguement to buy a PS3.
