Im talking about Flash Games. These quick, simple and fun games that cost absoloutely nothing is something that should get mentioned more when debating systems. We all play them, whether we are at work, school or waiting for the PS3 to install. Its pretty much like the community games on the 360 however there are millions of them and are free. These games are also improving greatly, i believe alien hominoid started as a free flash game, but was being sold on the PS2 for $40 (with improvements of course)

For an example, try this game http://puzzlefarter.com/ I sometimes play it when its a slow day at work. I bet no-one will be able to complete it!

Yeah they're definately a bonus, but it's sort of a given like a lot of the other features PC has over consoles so I can see why it doesn't get mentioned much, plus they get old quick ..and doesn't ps3/wii have internet browsers too so technically they should be able to run them?

I don't actually play flash games much at all. In the past month or two, all I've played is Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines and X3: Reunion.

And a huge advantage for the PS3 is that you can use the Bluray discs for a nice afternoon of ultimate frisbee, then when you're done just wipe it down, pop it back into the console and play away!

This is like saying you can also say that piracy is also a huge advantage for PC gaming because it saves you $$$

i'm not sure but you might be able to play flashgames on the ps3 browser since i know it supports flash and mouse/keyboard support.

EDITED: You can indeed play most online flash games on the ps3. I just looked it up.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&message.id=1999873

So i guess its an adavantage for both PC and PS3.

Flash games are fun, but they're just minor distractions inbetween proper games.

I guess its your business to decide how many dozen hours to sink into those.

I'll say one thing bad about it: its learning curve is absolutely ridiculous. It took me about 10 hours just to get my bearings.

I've got a nice little fleet now, though, and it's very, very satisfying to go into, say, a poorly guarded Xenon sector (they're universally hostile) and take out a capital ship or two that would have knocked the hell out of you if you were alone :) It's good to have something else to do while you're doing it, though, like listen to music of your own or homework. There isn't always something to do once you get to the point where missions worth your time are as few and far between as they are at the point I'm at in the game (I've gotten to the point where I won't accept a mission unless it gives me more than 500K credits). However, though some parts are relatively bland, they make your growth in power, influence, and wealth all the more satisfying. If things get too bland, though, you can always do a run-through of a corridor of Pirate sectors, find a sector in which a Xenon invasion is going on or is about to go on, or delve into piracy a little bit yourself (one of the races-the Split-were practically made for this-they don't make anything useful for trade, and they don't make anything that I'd want to actually fly). It is definitely not a game for everyone.

Split Cobra? Not their M3 fighter (that's the Mamba), nor their M4 (that's the Scorpion), nor their M6 (that's the Dragon). Is it their M5? Who'd want to fly an M5? :P My favorite fighter ATM is the Xenon XL. I captured two of those, and I don't think I'll be able to find anything better, except maybe an Argon Eclipse, though it's been a while since I've seen that things stats.

Free games that use a minimum of processing power can be played on most PCs. Where's the advantage for people play them on high end gaming PCs. It's just not that relevant. Most PS3 and 360 users can experience flash games if they want.

First: Consoles can play most of these games.

Second: They fall into the very unpopular(in SW) Casual category.

Meh, I play Flash Games if someone links me one, and after about 5 minutes I stop playing it.

They aren't great, but they are games I guess. I wouldn't really call them an upside to PC gaming though.

never really thought about that actually. some of them are really fun to play, they can be played on consoles but it is a lot better on PC.
