I’m not surprised that they would increase the price for their games to meet the current game prices, especially since those carts are more pricey then disks. I am a bit surprised that Mario Kart World is an additional $10 above that though.

I’m fine with the cost of the system. Was expecting $499 for the standard base unit.

I'm guessing the trade-wars have affected Nintendo into pricing everything aggressively so that's taking into consideration Nintendo kept it simple till now. I also suspected the pricing $450 but $500 for the bundle is reasonable. The pricing on their exclusives seems to be vary depending on the quality as Mario Kart World is their main exclusive and DK Bananaz is secondary exclusive is why there's a $70/$80 difference.

I remember every gaming media was pushing Rockstars to price GTA6 $100 mark. Nobody expected Nintendo to jump in first pricing $80 was the last thing on everyone's mind is freaking lol. If Nintendo can get away with pricing $80 on their exclusives, this also indicates that GTA6 will be $100 for sure. I'm sorry everyone but gaming itself is a luxury. I'm gonna have to be *much* pickier with Nintendo's 1st-party games.

@sakaixx: Now i get why they didn't mention any price during the Direct, there would be riots in the comments sections.

$80 is kind of insane lol but I will say Nintendo exclusives tend to be pretty solid on day 1 with little to no issues compared to other titles on other platforms…

I signed up for the pre-order on the Nintendo website…I definitely want the Pro controller as well

GTA6 isn't going to be $100. BUT! I can absolutely see them pricing it at $80 after this announcement.

Ya, having huge second thoughts about supporting this console. Not just because of the game prices, but controller prices too.

This part I don't mind so much, as long as I can still transfer my Switch 1 games over and still enjoy them as is without needing to upgrade them. I would have been upset if transferring Switch 1 games had a mandatory upgrade charge even if I didn't want to.

I feel like there will be price ranges for different types of games. Perhaps the major tentpole titles like Mario Kart and Donkey Kong will be within that range, but smaller more experimental games like Drag x Drive (looks like this gen's Arms) I suspect may go for cheaper. Indie games and 3rd-parties I'm sure will have all sorts of different price ranges.

Overall I think games should reflect their prices according to the value they offer, not just slapping the same high price tag for every game. I know they do this already in certain corners, but price and value reflections should go mainstream for all companies.

I dunno if it's for the cartridges or something, but both Story of seasons and rune factory will cost $10 more on the switch 2 than in the switch.

@Archangel3371: Very understandable and I'm not thrilled either. However, it makes me curious if the game is much bigger than anything we've yet to be shown. Like what if it's BotW in terms of scope and scale? It's been ages since Nintendo made a new Mario Kart game from the ground up, and they've been cooking up this game for possibly a decade.

To say the least, I have not been interested in Mario Kart for quite a few iterations now. I think the series has gotten very stale and I found the flashy corkscrew nonsense in Mario Kart 8 to be too much and a big turnoff for me. This new game got my interest in the series again, something I was not sure Mario Kart would be capable of doing again. This one looks very fresh for the series and I'm intrigued.

So while I'm not thrilled by the price, it raises my curiosity just what more this game has beyond what was shown in today's presentation.

Based on what the Direct showed us about the S2, Nintendo believes it has leverage to price certain games at $79.99. If the same prices could have been charged for BOTW and TOTK on Switch, you would have seen it.

Yikes. Sheep are getting milked harder than the cows. Even bigger ripoff than the PS5 Pro. I never knew potatoes were so expensive.

Doesn't even come with an OLED either. LOL

That is some tough pricing. They are even charging for a system tour application.....that's pretty bad. Nintendo really decided to get the cane out and start the beatings.

.....Still getting it though. Yeah I know....I'm part of the problem.

70 dollars in 2020 is 86 dollars now.

Not defending this, a PS5 game is still likely more expensive to develop than a switch 2 game.

I am fine with the Switch 2 being $450. It's the games being $80 for a cartridge is insane. The Pro controller 2 being $90 doesn't bother me, I tried the original Pro controller and hated the dpad though was able to get for $50. 8BitDo makes better a Pro controller with a softer d pad. Definitely a huge pass on Switch 2 on launch day. Waiting for Switch 2 OLED in 2029.

Yeah, not really concerned about the price. The availability is what will be interesting.
