Assuming MS didn't make a price move, I think slashing the cost of the PS3 to $450 would be very effective. For $30 less than the Elite or $50, you get plenty of HDD space, Wifi, and a Blu-Ray player. Now, I know a lot of people will say that they don't care about that...but I think many people, for just a little more, would be willing to purchase a PS3 for that reason over a 360.

But, the problem is, if they announce it at E3 and wait until September to do it, then you know PS3 sales will dry up immediately in the meantime. So if you're going to announce one, it needs to be one of those, "As soon as this conference closes, the price will be $xxx."

I have to disagree, the 360's library of games far outweighs that of the PS3. in quality and quantity. When someone walks into a Wal-Mart and see's two full sections of 360 games, versus the PS3's 1/2 a section not all but most would likely go with the 360.

200 AT LEAST to be a serious competitor. The 360 has the game advantage now and the graphiocs advantage with the games so far, th PS3 needs to be at least equal in terms of pricing

And why are the X360 sales decreasing, if they have such a big library?

They aren't decreasing they are simply slowing down for the huge explosion that will be Halo 3 and this holiday season.

Cool... if the PS3 sales go down, they are decreasing. If the X360 sales go down, they are just slowing down...

$500 is not mass market appeal for a video game console. $400 is kinda capable of mass market appeal. $300 is far more friendly to casuals and the lower you go the more consoles you sell (given you have the games to back the system up that is). I believe it was 85% of all PS2 owners bought one after the PS2 dropped below $200. That says alot.

No the PS3 sales have always been slow, and compared to the 360 sales it was decreasing.

Off course a price of USD 500,- is not appealing to the mass market but neither does 400,- or 300,-. USD 250,- is mass market compatible (and this includes casuals) just look at the Wii sales.

Im a 'lemming' because all I own is a 360 at te moment however with a price cut and games that actually interest me were announced then maybe I would buy one. Blu Ray players are getting cheaper all the time why can't the PS3?

360 is 19 months old, a price drop is very soon.
