exactly, the xbox d-pad is like a 3rd analog stick

[QUOTE="waz360"]Theres nothing wrong wit the 360 controller its great the way it is. SvarthekHave you never played with any other controller? I have. I like the layout, even if the dpad isn't perfect (i like the SNES dpad the best of any so far)

Dpad aside, it's still the best console gamepad. It really doesn't bother me as I don't use it that much except in games where you usually use it as a inventory selector or something like that.heretrixhow can you say d-pad aside then say its the best. for something to be the best, it has to be the best in everything. this comment reminds me when a mayor of washington said, "apart from the everyday murders, we have the lowest crime rate in america" lol.

The controller may be fine for you, but most people are not 6'4"... So yes he is right.
I still cant understand why M$ is sticking to that excuse of design...They have improved everything from Xbox1 but still they insist on that roundy cluncky Dpad...yezzir. d-pad blows chunks.
And the obvious question arises: Can the PS3 or even PS2 controller be used with Xbox360? If yes then a very strong disadvantage of the 360 is can just be remedied...

It's definitly not a very strong disadvantage...hardly any games use the dpad. I think you are over-stating it just a little bit.

I loved the original Xbox controller. my favorite ever by far. she felt so comfy. but I suppose if you're a little kid or are...ahem..."small", then the duke may be problematic.agreed. but that's one helluva design issue. it's really tough to be precise with it. I wonder how VF5 will turn out.yeah it's the only real flaw of this controller, other than that it's the best controller ever made imo

well, you have an argument against the d-pad when compared to PS2/3 d-pad. But to be fair, as an overall, they have the best controller out there.
I mean, if I had to choose between having an excellent d-pad with the PS3/2 controller, or having an X360 controller (with excellent everything + a decent d-pad), I'd definitely choose X360.
P.S. The d-pad is only important for 1 type of games (fighting), whereas the analog sticks (which X360 has the best, and PS3 has the worst) is important in all next-gen games.Mystery_Writer

On the ps2 the d-pad WAS a third analogue stick as it responded to the amount of pressure you put on it along with almost all the buttons on the dual shock 2, even the most hardcore lemming can't deny that the dpad sucks on xbox/xbox 360 controllers.the worst thing about the 360 pad is that the analogue sticks are off set form eachother. its much more comfortable and natural to play with a symetrical pad like the dual shock or sixaxis.-Krakapow-k ive never heard such bs before, not only is the 360 con better all around. one of chief complaints againest the dual shock design is its analog sticks... on a side note i like the 360s dpad it works great once you get used to it.

That's moronic. Nothing is perfect. You can be the best at something overall and still have deficiencies in some areas. Many people state that the 360 controller is the best gamepad they've used and I agree. It's a fantastic controller with a weak dpad which I really don't use that often enough for it to bother me.

Just so you know I agree that I prefer the Sony d-pad but literally everything else about the 360 controller I prefer. Spartan070
I agree, and since most games (99%) use the analoge for movement/steering etc, it's fine by me.

I disagree. As for the d-pad I use it for SF2 Hyper and its not exactly great but not exactly terrible. I think if I really cared about d-pad games I would buy a nice joystick with the old fashion six button layout.
