very true the d-pad is dreaful and def tyhe worst part of the 360 controller..but atleast they changed the rest of the thing unlike others.daveg1
if it aint broke why fix it? the ps2 controller is just about perfect, its just needs break proof sholder buttons. a logitech rumble pad 2 with ps2 dpad would be the pefect controller

yeah it's the only real flaw of this controller, other than that it's the best controller ever made imo

[QUOTE="True_Gamer_"]I still cant understand why M$ is sticking to that excuse of design...They have improved everything from Xbox1 but still they insist on that roundy cluncky Dpad...
And the obvious question arises: Can the PS3 or even PS2 controller be used with Xbox360? If yes then a very strong disadvantage of the 360 is can just be remedied...
bezaire2005

It's definitly not a very strong disadvantage...hardly any games use the dpad.  I think you are over-stating it just a little bit.

exactly, I can't think of any game except fighters that need a dpad.

[QUOTE="Mystery_Writer"]well, you have an argument against the d-pad when compared to PS2/3 d-pad. But to be fair, as an overall, they have the best controller out there.

I mean, if I had to choose between having an excellent d-pad with the PS3/2 controller, or having an X360 controller (with excellent everything + a decent d-pad), I'd definitely choose X360.

P.S. The d-pad is only important for 1 type of games (fighting), whereas the analog sticks (which X360 has the best, and PS3 has the worst) is important in all next-gen games.True_Gamer_

What about football games like PES/WE?
I cant even think of doing a free kick with that DPAD

oh yeah sport games need a good dpad, I gusse since I have a controller with a good dpad I forgot

[QUOTE="-Krakapow-"]the worst thing about the 360 pad is that the analogue sticks are off set form eachother. its much more comfortable and natural to play with a symetrical pad like the dual shock or sixaxis.WilliamRLBaker
k ive never heard such bs before, not only is the 360 con better all around. one of chief complaints againest the dual shock design is its analog sticks... on a side note i like the 360s dpad it works great once you get used to it.

only a shooter fan would say think the 360 stick design is better, dual shock owns in racing games and everthing that isn't shooting and shooters are best with keyboard and mouse anyway

in terms of D pad ive always liked the sony Dpad over the microsoft Dpad. However when playing games I find the analog stick way easier to control. Having said that the xbox analog stick is better placed than the sony analog stick. In terms of driving games and fps games i say the 360 is better. I rather use the sony control for sport games especially fighting ones. djestar
fps yes driving is way better with sony's controller, how come no pc pad have x360 stick arangement but ps2's if x360 is better?

The controller S D-Pad was better imo. Why change it...why!?

There is also a rumour floating around about a controller redesign. Here's hoping that this pulls through before I purchase my X360.

[QUOTE="heretrix"]Dpad aside, it's still the best console gamepad. It really doesn't bother me as I don't use it that much except in games where you usually use it as a inventory selector or something like that.-uHuRu
how can you say d-pad aside then say its the best. for something to be the best, it has to be the best in everything. this comment reminds me when a mayor of washington said, "apart from the everyday murders, we have the lowest crime rate in america" lol.

no best is overall best. The 360 has much better analog sticks and triggers then the sixaxis. The face buttons are exactly  the same and the dpad is better on the sixaxis. The 360 easily wins in comfort, design and build quality.

So thats 3-1-1 for the 360 and 1-3-1 for the PS3. And the one win for the ps3 is only used for one type of game.

360 controller is great, except the d-pad and the bumpers, the bumpers are just awkward and uncomfortable.OXIIIIXO

I love them. I can easily press them without moving my fingers from the triggers at all.

Overall I love the 360 pad, but the d-pad is a little clunky. Good thing I dont use it that much... They could stand to improve it a little...
