This game pisses me off, i can run it close to max (environment detail on high, txaa x2) at a solid 60fps, but the tearing is abysmal and if i try and enable Vsync through the game any drops will knock it down to 30fps.
Even forcing Vsync through the control panel results in the same severe drops, and adaptive Vsync does nothing.
So it's either, run at lower settings than i should with my PC and get no tearing, put up with horrible framedrops and get no tearing or play at 60fps with alot of tearing.
GG Ubi.
This is why PS4 >>>> PC right now. You get comparable visuals and none of the headaches that come with this optimization shit. I tried PC gaming and experienced a lot of the same issues you are having. No f*cking thanks.
That's not true though, it's piss easy to get PS4 settings at PS4 framerates with better graphics, getting PC settings (completely solid fps with vsyn) is the only thing shitty thing about this port atm, and it could very well be patch, that and it only cost me 37.50 Euro to get this game on PC day one.
On PS4 it's what 60 Euro?.

Yo, I gots a problem. You seem pretty clued up on overclocking.
The PC obviously looks better. Look at the distance towards the bridge, it looks blurry on the PS4 and it looks clearer on the PC. Judging by the performance people are getting on PC's less powerful than mines I should have no problem running it at 1080P with everything maxed out as my overclocked HD 6970 is easily more powerful than a HD 7850.
BTW, is it just me but game reminds of Pirate of the Carribean, with you playing as Captain Jack. :P Might skip ACIII and move to Black Flag as this game looks more interesting than ACIII, got good reviews too.

Right now,PS4 sucks bc there are no games for it,except AC which is a multiplatform title.
@Jankarcop: you all said the same thing last gen about the consoles being behind. And they held up fine.
What? They were extremely behind by the end of the gen...
We're talking 15-20 fps average vs. 60 fps average.
Low settings 540p vs. ultra 1080p.
Stop lying you goon. Compare bf3, witcher2, and crysis3 console vs. pc shots of last gen. What a big liar.
does the PS4 version have screen tearing? debating picking it up but I haven't touched an AC game since the first one.
Right now I just have NBA&Battlefield for the PS4
From the OP's screen I actually like the PS4's pic a little better, seem less blurry
thats txaa on pc
Can't say I'm a fan of the way it's being used here
TXAA is fantastic in getting rid of almost all jaggies but it usually comes with a bit of blurring.
If you combine it with some post process sharpening from Sweet FX, you'll get an almost completely jaggie free picture which still looks as sharp (or sharper if you want) than the PS4 version.
Here's a picture taken with TXAAx4 and sharpening: http://abload.de/img/acivtimelapse_17bys6m.png
This game runs OK on PC, I have a HD7850 and it runs it at 1080p @ 30FPS stable with all the settings set at the highest (not sure how this compares to PS4) and with volumetric fog on, SSAO on, God Rays (low) created some input lag for me on high, SSAO, and normal very high shadows (not soft).
Outside of the game I had to set double vsync and triple buffering and frame rate limited to refresh (radeonpro) or the game would stutter in places with vsync on which annoyed me especially when syncing on the viewpoints when it pans the camera, but that fixed it 100% all be it at 30FPS though which is passable, rather that then unstable 40 - 60FPS with stutter. This game runs rock solid 30FPS in every area I've been in with or without fog and smoke and rain.
Think this game has serious issues with multi-threading, one of my cores is maxed out quite a lot, and the other core has very high usage, the other 6 cores are hardly used. (AMD FX8350) I was aiming to tweak the settings to get 60FPS but it's impossible as the CPU is the bottleneck in towns so I gave up and just set it to 30 and ramped everything up.

Ah that does look good!
they look nearly the same but PC slightly ahead....but runs noticably better
And this is just the start of the gen. Things get worse from here consolites.

Irrelevant and off-topic. Don't attack me because consoles started off weak this gen.Don't be stupid next time. It does run and look better on PC, but not by alot.
But as other generations have proved, this gap widens as the gen goes by. This gen the gap is already on PC's favor in year one, that is rare. It usually takes 1 year for PC to overcome consoles...but not this gen. Consoles are at a deficit.
Now please show me where I was factually wrong. Idiot.
You really are dumb, Call of Duty 2 on PC looked MUCH better then the 360 version and at higher res, it also allowed 64 players vs 12. Same was true for nearly every game at launch. It didn't take a year for shit, your just stupid. I know PCs are faster then Console, nobody is saying other wise. Unlike you I am content with my PC and impressed with my PS4. I'm not some hermit living in a cave hating on any piece of technology aimed for the mainstream audience. I spend more time on my PC then anything else. Still love my consoles. Also the performance issues aren't just me, and yea I'm using the Nvidia AC4 drivers. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=719117 Tons have issues. And whoever uploaded the PS4 vs PC screenshot, that looks compressed as ****. PC does have the edge in HBAO though. Just not worth it for me, screentearing if I don't vsync and drops to 20 or drops from 60-30 due to the wierd vsync they used aswell as the stupid non 16:10 support.
And I'm not 14, 99 = A famous Canadian Hockey Player

I'md just glad its superior from the get go.

Yup. Im thinking of dismantling my PC now since I'll be getting all 3rd party games on the PS4 from here on out.
To be honest I don't even think this game is pushing the PlayStation 4 much at all. There is a massive difference in fan noise and exhaust heat when playing Killzone compared to this game. When I am playing Assassin's Creed my PS4 hardly heats up at all.
Not sure why people are saying it is un-optimized for PC though, I played it on PC (GTX 760 w/ i5 2500k @4.5Ghz) maxed out with 50+ fps. I expected a bit more however it is still playable, but if I put FXAA or w.e it stays even higher.
Not a very large difference in graphics between PC/PS4 versions as well.

PC

As can be sin from the screenshots above the pc version of AC4 have much better ambient occlusion, volumetric fog, AA, shadows etc. for example a HD7850 GPU(equivalent to PS4) play AC4 with he same performance and graphic settings like the ps4.
How come hermits don't know anything about their platform? A 7850 HD would get you 20 FPS...
You'd need something like like a GTX 760 minimum dude...

Old drivers are old.
Nvidia released newer drivers for AC4
Also that benchmark is with 4xmsaa which hits fps pretty hard in some cases.
I run the game maxed out on an OCed GTX 570 with SMAA and get 30+ fps.

That's not the same graphics settings as the PS4. You really need to read things.

Looks like console peasants have very limited ability to read posts and understand reality in general...
I said a HD7850 GPU(or equivalent) will play AC4 with he SAME performance and graphic settings like the ps4. The benchmark above is at MAX SETTINGS, ps4 version of AC4 don't run at MAX SETTINGS...
Fact is that a low-end GPUs like the HD7850(or equivalent) play games with similar graphics and performance like the ps4, and a ultra low-end GPUs like the HD7770 or 7790 play games with similar graphics and performance like the xboxOne, deal with it.
Wow comparing a console built game to PC? Really? They are obviously going to look pretty similar since AC4 is not anywhere near a demanding game on pc. It's not a dedicated PC game. I get over 100fps on this game @ 1440p. I get about 40fps on ultra with crysis 3 which looks a lot better. Who the hell compared these crap graphics to crysis 3? Are you kidding? Has anyone ever even played crysis 3 on Ultra high at 1440p? AC4 from the beach screen shots look no better than crysis 1 that came out in 2007 for pc. ^ That game is 7 years old and was a very demanding game at the time. Not a single game on console even came close to that. I would say consoles are at crysis 1 graphics now or slightly better with new AA technology. Consoles will never ever come close to PC graphics ever again like they did in 2004. They lack power which is needed to run high end gpus. Try running a high end gpu with 137 watts of max power and turning on new AA technologys, Ultra high and running it over 1080p with 60fps or more. Not going to happen. Consoles are like playing games on PC, setting the graphics to medium with a 720p or 1080p monitor and getting 30fps capped. The worst thing about them are you can't upgrade them. So you're stuck with that console for another 6-7 years. No thanks. I understand people can't afford to built a high end gaming rig. To me it is worth every penny.
BTW I use to play on consoles back in the Halo 1 and 2 days. Ever since I switched to pc, I will never go back. Why miss out on all the new and demanding graphic technologies to come? People may think PS4 games look amazing, well I don't. They look like PC games did 5 years ago. Not even comparable today. Unless you play a console built game on PC, like COD for example, they will be almost identical. If they made the game dedicated for PC consoles simply can't render the graphics with enough fps to play the game.

don't bump old threads
AC4 is not a demanding game. You don't need a top rig to max it out at 1080p. 1440p and 4K on the other hand are different matters. The most obvious differences at 1080p appear to be AA (especially the "jagged" sword on PS4) and shadows.
You haven't played it then, people with sli 780s, 290x ect can't maintain good framerate. It is a demanding game, more so then BF4 and Crysis 3.
reason is because piss poor coding on the cpu, the game only uses two cores which causes the cpu not able to supply the gpu with the data it needs.
Wow comparing a console built game to PC? Really?
Wow bumping a 2 month old thread? Really?
The PC version has contact hardening shadows and full screen light shafts at the highest setting (PS4 is equal to the second highest setting on both shadows and god rays). The PC version also has much better anti-aliasing and can run at a higher frame-rate.
This is a game that came out at the very beginning of the generation when the consoles will be the closest they ever will to the PC and this game still shows clear advantages in some areas on the PC.

Why are you necroing this old ass thread?
Meh I rented it for PS3. Didn't have to upgrade shit lol! Looks like ass though even compared to gta5.
PC version can be additionaly improved with SweetFx and it runs mostly at arround 50-60fps.
While the console version is locked at 30fps.
