Ace Combat 7 PSVR Exclusive Campaign Will Offer ~15 Hours Of Gameplay

Looks like the dev definitely needed more time to develop this title, as there will be essentially two campaigns offered: one for traditional gameplay, and another that is exclusive to the PSVR for VR gameplay. Cockpit simulators are a perfect match for VR, so it is no little surprise that the dev was interested. The VR campaign offers a deep story and gameplay just like the standard campaign. Great job on Sony swooping this up! It's a huge win for the PSVR.

'We met up with the guys from Bandai Namco at their E3 booth, where they are demoing the game as well as its VR mode. “For something like Ace Combat – it’s a natural evolution for something in this genre. I used to fly in the military and what they told us is that when you’re in combat you should keep your head on a swivel. If you just look straight ahead then you’re not going to last. Pilots track enemies with their heads. So VR adds that element of realism,” said David Bonacci, Brand Manager at Bandai Namco Entertainment America.

Bonacci also assured us that the VR missions in Ace Combat 7 will have the same deep storyline and will feature the same chaotic battles and tumultuous aerodynamic maneuvers as the flat screen version. “There’s going to be a deep story, similar to the one you had in the previous Ace Combat games. It’s going to be a very deep story that’s set in the strange-real universe. Strange-real is a term coined by the fans for the alternative universe that Ace Combat is set in. It’s strange because it has a different history and continents but it’s real because we’ve got real world aircraft over here, that are recreated in very high fidelity,” he continued.'

Looking forward to this title but it will be a while before I get the PSVR. Waiting for a significant price drop.

It could be a while. Sony hasn't shown much evidence that they are going to lower the price any time soon. I could be wrong though. They are in the process of manufacturing more headsets and upping stock at stores. You'd probably have some luck finding a sale somewhere when the next big shipments come in.

No PSVR games are at 480p. I know you're not being serious, but whatever. And if you ever feel nauseous playing a VR game, and keep the headset on your head instead of taking a break, of course you're going to eventually get sick. That being said, the majority of people simply have to become accustomed to the VR perspective. The nausea, if you experience it at all, stops happening with time.

This was a big surprise, given how accustomed I am to "exclusive VR mission" being about 20 minutes of gameplay. Ace Combat 7 has definitely shot up my radar now. We still don't have a good single player flight sim in PSVR.

Ace Combat game? Now that's a game I haven't play in years. I'll wait for the reviews if it's worth playing Ace Combat 7. I've been watching Aerofly 2 on PC VR. If you want a VR selling game, it's flying and racing that will do it. Ace Combat 7 PSVR, well this is it.

Flying in VR is way better than any porn can ever be. I suggest you put down that lotion, take a shower, get a job and buy a decent VR headset for yourself. Watching YouTube videos of VR and playing with your mom's google cardboard doesn't count. I guarantee once you try you a high-end VR headset and experience some of the thrill, it will end your ignorance ?.

You like racing games? VR is a major game-changer when it comes to racing. Completely destroys the experience you get from playing on a 2D screen. I'm personally into flight sims and space sims that's why I own a VR headset. Ace Combat is the main reason I bought PSVR.

Dang. I'll be getting it the I guess. I hope they don't dumb it down for the "nausea types" . I feel bad for those people, but never once have I felt that way at all. Some people just aren't ready for the Matrix, I swallowed the whole jar of red pills and I want Morpheus to be my co-pilot.

@dr_vancouver: lol, I'm the same way. I've never gotten motion sickness before in VR. I fly and drive for hours in Eve Valkyrie and Driveclub without a hint of nausea. I hope they don't dumb it down for nausea suffering people. We need an option for people like us where all assists are turned off and we get to feel the whole experience hardcore.

@quadknight: it feels like that's what they did with the Battlefront VR. It's cool and all, but it seems they handicap how hot dog you can fly. I'm prone to go crazy with the barrel rolls, partially I'm sure cuz I've been in a squadron with Slippy Toad too long. But yeah I like to take top-gunning a little over the edge, I hope in VR the game can keep up with people like us is all.

I'm pretty good with most motion. Barrel-rolls, however, have proven to be my nemesis. Though I haven't had much experience with them. I only played EVE for like 15 minutes. I should give it another go, especially considering Ace Combat has me amped!

A VR game lasting over more than 4 hours, in itself, is spectacular.

@the_master_race: It is indeed. I have no interest in the game outside of VR. But then who am I to complain? Ill likely be playing through the whole game in VR once someone mods it like with RE7, GTAV, Minecraft, Doom3BFG etc. (exclusive to PC).

@sts106mat: No other VR motion bothers me. It's literally just barrel rolls. If I did one in real life I'd probably puke. But then I'd get used to it. I get used to everything.
