trophies are cool and i have been unlocking them! but the system sucks the platinum trophy counts towards ur % it should be a trophy you get after u get all of the others! the the way the trophies are set up are weird take for example Dead Space when u beat the game using only 1gun(plasma cutter) u receive 40points on ps3 u receive a gold trophy when u beat the game on impossible u receive the tier 3 engineer achievement for 150 points on 360 and a gold trophy on ps3 the point system is better because it shows that beating the game on the hardest difficulty was a lot harder than using one gun! because that 1 gun trophy can be atained on easy! the trophy variation should be changed! and the platinum shouldnt count towards your 100%

your argument only shows the benefits of trophies over that of acheivements.. sure, in that one case, the acheivement system gave you two different point values for two tasks that would both receive gold trophies under the PS3 system.. but when you have a gamerscore of 8,567, the addition of 40 pts or 150 pts isnt really going to be readily noticable to another player who happens to glace at your score.. nobody is going to be readily able to notice how you're going for the "hard" acheivements or notice that little difference in points that you pointed out in your argument..
but with the trophy system, this info is instantly available.. gold trophies are obviously the "hardest" acheivements to get and every single one you have is a clear indication of how "hardcore" a player you are.. it's right there, in your face, and plain to see.. it's as simple and easy as seeing one guy having 1 gold trophy and another guy having 16 gold trophies.. this gives you a clear and instant indication about what type of "gamer" they are.. and this doesnt even include the incredibly rare platinum trophy.. acheivements cant compare in this regard..
are you the type of player that goes for nothing but "easy" achivements or do you always go for the "hard" acheivements.. simply looking at a gamerscore of 4,587 doesnt tell me this.. it just says that either you have played a large number of games and just got the "easy" acheivements in all of them or it tells me that you only have a handfull of games and you've acheived nearly everything in those few.. and what if you completed every sinlge task in a few of your games?.. does that score of 4,587 tell me that?.. no.. but a platinum trophy would..
and this doesnt even bring into account the leveling system which will award the "hardcore" players who continually go for the gold and platinum trophies with more % towards their next level while those who just go for bronze trophies with the occational silver will be slowed down in the leveling process and left behind... this once again provides yet another instant identifier of "gamer" scoring and skill...
for these reasons, trophies > acheivemenst imo...
