So what will that mean for xbox live gold subscribers? Are people going to get the maps before gold members and the gold members before PSN and PC players? What will be the point in getting Xbox live, assuming all you play online is COD, if you get maps and extra stuff on other platforms with a fee?Seems that they are actually doing it, here is the story on it. Basically those who pay the extra $15 a month will get early access to map packs, exclusive maps, equipment and guns. They are saying its optional and that the basic online mode will be free of charge.

I'm not buying this game, not going to fall for the hype this time.

[QUOTE="fabz_95"]I really hope that rumour isn't true, FPS's really shouldn't have monthly fees. Still, it might convince my friends to buy the Battlefield games instead.telefanatic
Im with you on this one, i love BFBC2 and i will get the new MOH.
BC2 ftw! I may get the new MOH, I won't buy it instantly though, I'll want to to play it first.A few top tier games could get away with this. But on a whole it would kill the gameing industry if it was expected you pay another 15$ a month for everygame you own. I buy between 20-30 games a year. If this went into effect across the board i would end up getting only 2-3 max. Activision is a parasite doing this , killing it's host.
TBH yeah that is a rip off, for those with live who pay 50 already that should atleast be free to them since they are already paying to play. And Playstation plus members should have early access to it because thats apart of Playstation plus then they gotta pay another 15 of which they already paid. That is messed up. Sad part is that aint gonna stop the masses from getting it.so $15 to get early access to the map packs/guns etc. and another payment to actually get it?
wow rip off after rip off.

Lol we all know how this works. We complain, we boycott, time flies by and then where all paying $15 a month for a multiplayer FPS. It becomes the norm then the hate becomes denial and excuses. Just glad some of us are immune. Unless of course a miracle happens and people finally see Activision for what they really are.
Could Activi$ion milk you anymore?
I was thinking about getting Black Ops but this is ridiculous. Unless Black Ops is truly amazing with close to nothing annoying in the multiplayer, I won't be getting it. I don't care if it's optional that's just greedy and stupid. The sad thing is that people are going to be dumb enough to get it.
It's a rumor, and a false one. Treyarch has confirmed numerous times that there will be no P2P subscription service for Black Ops. rolo107
Did you even read it? It said that you will not be forced to pay to play the online, but you will pay to get early access to DLC. Plus it'll be a monthly subscription.
lmao, paying for multiplayer imbalance? i really don't like the sound of giving exclusive game changing items to those who are willing to pay, if that's the case, count me out.
$15/month sounds unlikely, I doubt the premium service offer enough content to justify that kind of price tag.mystervjYep, people that pay 15$/month will get machine gun that shoots out rocket while other people will get water gun..:P
Great.
I hope they have a universal account. If not then guess ill just have to subscribe on both consoles.
It's optional. You don't have to buy the premium service. Beside right now it's just a rumor. If it is true I'm not getting it because I'm already paying for Xbox-live and Gamefly. I really don't want anymore fees.
Black Ops will still be a great game.

Once enough people are subscribing it will cease being optional. Luckily purchasing these games will always be optional. And I opt to render myself immune to the ill effects of this CoD-related kerfluffle.
Or maybe EA will do it first, who knows.
FPS are all the same anyway. You own one, you own em all. Black ops looks interesting but I am seriously thinking about not getting this game and not supporting the COD franchise anymore. I LOVED COD4, and WAW was fun as well. But MW2 ruined it for me and BO looks to be exactly like MW2 in a different setting. Sorry Activision, I'd rather play COD4 and WAW MP to get my FPS fix.

Unfortunately it's all speculations. We don't really know if there is a fee. I guess all we can do is wait. Knowing Bobby... Though this did give me an interesting idea. I should play a couple match of MW2 and ask all the recent players that if there is a optional sub fee for Black Ops would they sub? You know with early access to maps and maybe exclusive weapons.Since you don't HAVE to do it, I think its not so bad. Plus it says that its early access, not exclusive. At least they plan on releasing more than just maps this time, if i can get them without a subscription I have no problem.

so you have to bad 15 bucks a month and still buy map packs??
hahahah no :P

Yes, I read it, and it's still wrong. It's a rumor as the article itself states. I would not trust their credibility one bit, they are just riding a hot topic at the moment. Why would sources divulge such information to them rather than a high profile site? It doesn't make sense. Don't be so gullible. Treyarch community manager said simply that there would be no pay to play service, he didn't specify it beyond that. He kept it general. That's a pretty good indication that there won't be any pay-to-play. You already get map packs quicker through Xbox Live, no way in hell Microsoft would allow such a service. Please Log In to post.
