After all those months.... Did Scorpio actually deserve/live up to the Hype in the end?

Seeing those Digital Foundry videos, Scorpio sounds more like what the PS4 Pro is, but more powerful (it should be, launched a whole year later). Fanboys who said Ryze or Vega had unrealistic expectations from the System. Not to mention the slight bottleneck in sticking with Jaguar cpu

No. Most of the overhype came from lems so it's their own fault.

It lived up and exceeded my hype. Not only will it improve game performance going forward, but it will improve existing X1 games and BC games.

It's gonna be a legit 4K console. What else did you think it would be?

Did it live up to the hype Microsoft generated? Seems so. Did it live up to some Uber lems hype? Not even close.

Yeah I'd say that it deserved and lived up to the hype. I'm really looking forward to picking one up myself this year.

The system is not a available so I don't see how it can live up to anything.

So far so good...I'm already sold on the fact that it'll improve existing titles Xbox One & Xbox 360. All I want now is to see Red Dead Redemption 2 in native 4K :)

I expected better performance but I have yet to see actual 4K and stable 30 FPS on more and actual retail titles.

Still, I think we'll see more stuff down the line and on actual Scorpio retail date.

My prediction? It'll do great due to online word of mouth of it running most 3rd party better and have a possibility to retake US but not global domination this gen.

Easily lived up to hype. The console is extremely feature rich, with great support and solutions from MS. Even the dev kit looks pretty cool.

Zen was never going to happen once the lineup and prices were revealed. A Jag was really the only option. On the flipside, a matching GPU from PC is baseline R9 390/GTX 980, and Fury X/GTX 980ti class at peak.

It's exactly what I thought it would be so far and what MS promised last year... its sounding good.

Better than expected.

Not going to lie. I expected a Vega GPU and something other than a Jaguar Evolved CPU.

However the name of the CPU and GPU is not important but how that tandem performs is what is important. I expected a 6TF Console that would give us some of the improvements that MS and DF have shown us and the rumors are 3rd parties are getting Great performance from Scorpio too. If this continues then I'm incredibly happy with what MS has delivered. So far if the rumors are true Scorpio has Superseded my expectations. Supposedly MS tested, identified all of the bottlenecks during in game work loads and then proceeded to make improvements on all of those bottlenecks until they came up with Scorpio. Hopefully MS isn't blowing smoke our way and it's all true. We'll find out soon enough.....

Love what they have done so far. Microsoft brought it this time around!

@Juub1990: I remember on most forums(system wars, gamefaqs, n4g etc) how fanboys hyped the machine, like its some Generation leap compared to ps4 pro(mind you, actual ps4 pro comparison, not regular ps4). They hyped up some Zen powered machine. Things got worse when some second party dev on Neogaf evoke some rumors that scorpio is like a next gen console, not half assed(his words) like ps4 pro

I thought MS might start a new gen, so that is the reason I was off the specs. Anyway it is still the most powerful console ever made.

It's going to be niche due to it's price point and it won't really change much.

I'll wait till it's on the shelves and we see tangible performance and gameplay from this "4K" console. I'll believe it when I see it.

Price will be a large factor. Hype is useless if the price is ridiculous.

I think we all knew it was going to be great in terms of consoles at least.

Still a few pieces to the puzzle need to be found before a realistic assessment can be made.

Speculation is pointless drible, something many users here are quite proficient in.

There's still more information I need before I can decide how I feel about the Scorpio, such as price and if there is more to the Scorpio than just the nice specs.

They said 6Tf, apparently it delivers on that, so for now all seems the same to me.

Tooooo early. Let's wait until we see some games before concluding if it lives to the hype

What were you expecting? An entirely new gen console even though Microsoft repeatedly stated this is NOT a new gen console? It isn't just more powerful than the Pro, it has the UHD Blu ray playback like the S and a 4k captcha card for streaming which the Pro doesn't have. I am getting into streaming slowly and this sounds great for me.

As far as live up to the hype? It hasn't been released yet so how do any of us really know? Did its initial spec unveiling match what MS claimed at E3 2016? Absolutely. DF confirmed that much. Like Spencer said, they could have easily released a suped up X1S last fall. They wanted to really dig in with this. I know me and the rest of 3-13 FA Red Dragons I served with are going to be rocking the Scorpio this holiday for our community gaming. Thank you Microsoft, and God bless the United States of America.

Judging by how the Mighty Scorpio Stung the MS/Xbox anti-fans and their mountains of DC'ing by all the other SW factions after the reveal; it hugely exceeded all pre-reveal hype and then some. :P

The thing hasn't even been released yet, but if we go by all these threads then yes it's surpassed the hype, cows can't seem to get enough of it.

Its funny isn't it? Human psychology isn't a theory. Its a well documented science for hundreds of years. If the Xbox is so irrelevant or the Scorpio is, then why so much discussion about it? LOL Wiping your ass with sand paper is irrelevant because it isn't sanitary and I would bet it hurts hence it isn't discussed.
