After Gamers Day I think the PS3 is starting to live up to the hype. NO 56K!!

After seeing the new footage on IGN I must say I am blown away by the graphical quality in heavenly sword, uncharted drake, and lair.  HS art direction, lighting, character models, scale are amazing.  Quite possibly the best character model I have seen in a game.  check out the comparison with the 2005 CGi picture vs the 2007 in game cutscene picture. 

Lair on the other hand, regardless of its shaky gameplay mechanics, cant be denied as an amazing display of graphics and is currently meeting the the qualtiy of the graphics when first shown.

And finally Drake, next to crysis, has some of the best enviornments Ive seen in a game.  Is PS3 finally starting to live up to the hype? personally, I think HS, Lair, and Drake are on Gears of War level of graphics.

dang, why are people such fanboys around here and cant accept that another system can make great looking games.  let me remind you that I am a 360 and PS3 owner and prefer 360 first, however, there are several games on PS3 that have impressed me as much as GOW, and maybe more. 

the cutscene vid of HS is quite possibly the best graphics Ive seen thus far in a game, sorry Gears.  Drakes enviorments look better than Gears imo, and Lair looks photorealistic at times.  thank the lord they improved the fire effects.

Actually bungie already issued a warning that halo 3 will not even look as good as gears (LOL), so I think the people that are not so bright are the lemmings that think the graphics in the beta will improve by leaps and bounds.  Sad to think that halo 3 will already be outshined graphically by so many games when in the previous gen it was the graphical standard.

Casuals with hdtv's and with games that require more then 9GB of space.  Anyone who still thinks DVD is sufficient is kidding themselves because many games have already proven that DVD can not handle the video/audio demands of hd setups.  If you are not playing your 360 on an hdtv then I do not even see the point of playing it because you are missing out on a majority of the experience.

Yes I do have the crackdown beta, yes I have played it, and I must say I had higher expectations since I saw the first trailer.

We are.  And being able to choose your own music is something that makes gameplay better.  Instead of hearing the same cheesy generic Steve Vai-wannabe guitar, we can play whatever we want.  When will the PS3 be getting that feature across all titles, again?

I agree. It had a couple of months after to launch to live up the the "hype" and it didn't. It doesn't get 2 -3 more chances to finally live up to the hype. So far, only the Wii has truly lived up to the hype that got generated at the E3. Sony's PS3 hype fizzled at the E3 and then fizzled right after the launch.

Most of the games list above have already been know for the past 2 years. These games have been hyped forever. Now we are still waiting for them to be released to see if they actually live up to all the hype they got.

This is a joke post right? I hope so becuase custom soundtracks don't define next-gen. It's just a matter of developers writing code that will allow games to access the harddrive for music. It is 10X easier to transfer music to a PS3 than with a 360.

Dude, IMO, Halo 3 looks better than Gears of War. Why? Gears looks like clay. Also, Uncharted will be great because Naughtydog is a great dev. (I'm a big fan of theirs :oops: ) Also, what you saw of Halo 3 was the single player, not the multiplayer mode. Am I right? Also, Single player will look better than the multiplayer.

Yall are treating consoles as if they were people. It's up to developers to actually support it. Which they are heavily, as you can see at Sony Gamers Day. The PS3 is harder to develope for when porting from 360. This is an issue that developer had to learn and cope with. That is why there is no GRAW2 or Rainbow Six yet. They needed time to develope.

With all of the games coming out this Fall for all consoles only a fool gamer would not be interested in each system some way or another.

Woah! Thats a first! I have the Beta as well. Though it is fun, it's undewhelming. The only new gameplay mechanic added was extra grenades. The graphics are good, but nothing more. In the end gameplay is what matters, but the graphics, animations, and hit boxes turn me off of Halo (even though I'm a fan since H1).

One of the best post I have read on here in quite some time. I am right with you in owning a 360, and a PS3, both of which I love. However, I am more partial to the PS3 because it will have more appealing games for me.

Anyway, indeed, the PS3 bashing has taken own a life of it's own it seems. It is beyond overkill at this point. It has more or less become a trend to hate Sony, and no matter what good news comes out for the PS3, blind, flagwaving fanboys feel the need to automatically shoot it down with verbal RPG's at first glance. They have the attitude that NOTHING that the PS3 will do will ever be valid or relevant, no matter how good it in reality may be.

Having a rational, fair, objective, but open, and honest conversation is beyond their level of social skills....such is SW I suppose, lol. But I come here anyway, as there are plenty of great discussions, good news updates, and lot's of humor in this forum. The fanboy garbage is just a bad by-product of the good conversations we have in here. Kind of like what you drop in the toilet after eating a good meal:P The meal was enjoyable, the by-products that you expell from your body is just waste.:lol:

Why not. The 360 sure as hell was not recieved well until nearly A YEAR after it's launch. It TAKES TIME to get good games out, just as it did for the 360. Not to even mention all of the LEMON 360's due to shoddy hardware....which is an issue that is STILL not resolved. But you expect the PS3 and all the devs to just deliver on the spot, and have all of it's great games out within the first six months? LOL...ridiculous, and highly impractical.

It took the 360 a while to flex it's muscles, even with shoddy hardware, but it rocks right now. The PS3 needs at least a year as well. Let's be fair here, man. What are you, a robot? You cannot just say, "It's failure is automatic because it did not live up to the hype from day 1, therefore it cannot, and will not succeed.", lol. Talk about a CLOSED, one track mind....sheeesh.

Anyway, by the time that the PS3 is a year old, it will have MORE than a solid line-up of games availible....with plenty more to come. The rest of this year, starting in June with NG Sigma looks fantastic for the PS3. It just took six months to get here, which is very reasonable, as the people behind all of this are indeed HUMAN, afterall. The PS3 will head into next year with the inclusion of HOME, along with a superb line-up of games. Also do not forget to add the anticipation of 2 of it's heaviest hitters to come in 08'. Namely FFXIII, and MGS4. How is that not living up to the hype?

The PS3 is going to have PLENTY on the table going into next year and beyond, and I for one cannot wait.

And you also can't delay the deadline for hype expectation.  How many times are we going to have to ignore previous hype just so cows can hype the next big thing?

the cutscene vid of HS is quite possibly the best graphics Ive seen thus far in a game, sorry Gears.  Drakes enviorments look better than Gears imo, and Lair looks photorealistic at times.  thank the lord they improved the fire effects. 

Does this mean PS3>360?  No, but i think at this point, the PS3 has proved it can make equally impressive titles as 360.

One of the best post I have read on here in quite some time. I am right with you in owning a 360, and a PS3, both of which I love. However, I am more partial to the PS3 because it will have more appealing games for me.

Anyway, indeed, the PS3 bashing has taken own a life of it's own it seems. It is beyond overkill at this point. It has more or less become a trend to hate Sony, and no matter what good news comes out for the PS3, blind, flagwaving fanboys feel the need to automatically shoot it down with verbal RPG's at first glance. They have the attitude that NOTHING that the PS3 will do will ever be valid or relevant, no matter how good it in reality may be.

Having a rational, fair, objective, but open, and honest conversation is beyond their level of social skills....such is SW I suppose, lol. But I come here anyway, as there are plenty of great discussions, good news updates, and lot's of humor in this forum. The fanboy garbage is just a bad by-product of the good conversations we have in here. Kind of like what you drop in the toilet after eating a good meal:P The meal was enjoyable, the by-products that you expell from your body is just waste.:lol:

Haha, your post was very well written and I agree with everything you said.  Love the great meal followed by waste analogy!  i love my systems equally, as both provide different experiences and have their pros and cons.  If i only had one choice currently I'd go with 360 simply because of the gaming library and live experience (also because of custom soundtracks, rumble, and marketplace).  But PS3 is constantly improving, and I look forward to the stunning games by years end and the home online system.  Fortunetly, I thank the lord for the ability to make choices and an having an open mind. gamers like you and I can enjoy both systems and the awesome games they both pump out, thus getting the most out of our common hobby-videogames. 

I have been seeing some reviews for Lair and Heavenly sword and they have not been positive. For example watch the 1upshow after the Sony game day they talked about the games and they did not seem to impressed.
