Shooting real guns is hard kid.

MP is just kids play.

Halo takes more skill , like real shooting.

-Ninja_Dog-

Obviosly you've never shot a real gun... I have... and its hella easy....

Not baby guns dude.

I'm talking 50 caliber and stuff.

Stop trying to be all tough with you little rifles and stuff.

breaking news: rifles are now for kids! It is to imature to use a rifle. All personal must pick up a 50 cal, or be classified with the kiddie!!!

that is the dumbest thing i saw all day

dude kids , grandmas nowadays can shoot are kinds of rifles, come on get with it.

notice how he keeps calling us kids, trying to act all mature, yet look where he is, system wars, bashing metroid and calling halo real

WASD definitly isnt inferior to analog, I mean cs is still the most played online fps game.

7CloudStrife7

CS is mediocre at best.

But character control is much more fluid with analog.IMO

MP has always sucked and some last gen Xavix controls won't help it.

-Ninja_Dog-

Since you insist on using scores to judge a game (you keep calling MP3 a flop, which it is), then this statement is totally hypocritical - Metroid Prime was one of the highest scoring games last gen (scored the same as Halo) and a GOTY winner. MP2 scored less, but it was still AAA. So the only time that a Metroid Prime game has 'sucked' is with the third game (and even then, 'flop' has nothing to do with a game's worth).

I honestly don't want motion sensing to ever be on all the consoles. I will always buy the one that doesn't have it, and if they all get it to the point where that is the only method of control I will start PC gaming. I owned a Wii and couldn't stand the motion controls. They're fun for parties and stuff but when I want to get serious I just feel like I need a real dual analog controller. Something about holding my hand out in front of me just didn't appeal to me.channtheman1

Who would be stupid enough to hold their hands out?

Well you can't sit on the edge of your seat with your arms resting on your thighs and play the Wii, nor can you be laying down on your stomach and play it. So maybe I'm saying you can't just relax and play it however you want because you have to worry about being dead on with the sensor and it just sucks, IMO.

Honestly if there is a multi-platform FPS on the Wii and Xbox360,360 owners won't have a snowballs chance in hell.

Sadly there won't be. 9 months in and not one 360 and wii multiplat...of any kind.

Really? That news to me, mainly because that how i play... Yeah, my Aim is a bit off in MP3 when i do that, and i usually sit up when am fighting a boss, but for the most part am 'relaxing' when i play (resting arms on thighs or laying down).

Resting it on your thigh offers you the most stablity. I have found at least.

And that's my point. In a competitive online battle (guess you won't ever have to worry about this on the wii though) I would want to have the most accuracy with still feeling comfortable. The controller shouldn't impact how I have to sit and thus how comfortable I am while playing a video game.

After playing cs on a computer I honestly don't know why console fps games don't make keyboards and mouse standard, mouse can't be beat when it comes to reaction time and doesn't require auto aiming, the wiimote is a decent new way to play fps, but I got metroid in the mail Monday and I thought the controls were simply ok at best. There's no big deal really, its like playing duck hunt except you can move using the nunchuck I didn't see the big deal.7CloudStrife7

Maybe it's because console gamers don't play on the perfect controls mouse+keyboard for fps games. Honestly, being a PC gamer for a long time I really dont like Halo or any fps game on a console. I have tried it but it just does not compete to the mouse+keyboard controls. I play fps games on PC but I got a wii for motion sensing and I'll have to try MP3 for the controls. It'll be arriving here next week. I ordered from play-asia. I can't wait. This would be the first Metroid game I'll play. I haven't play any metroid game at all.

You should understand that metroid is different. Metroid is about adventuring into weird worlds and using your combat skill for survival. Its has a lot of puzzle solving and even in combat, you have to find certain ways to defeat enemies that constantly change to challenge you.

It's not just a shootan gaem.

The most effective way to play games like zelda, MP3, or any IR game (like any FPS) is to have your arms rested at your sides with the wii pointing towards the screen. My hands never raise or leave my side. It gives you the most acuracy, speed, comfort, and advantage. It's also more comfortable than a standard gamepad.

Why would you ever raise your arms when playing a traditional game on the wii? The only time I ever get up or raise my arms is for stuff like wii sports and warioware. If your holding your arm out in a FPS on the wii, your puropsly making your arms tired, choosing to play in aa akward postiton, and messing up your aim all at the same time.

Don't be like antonio...unless you want to be sexy.

Agreed MP is just kids play.

In a video game tweaked to simulate fireing a real gun, yes its harder shooting a gun versus kid friendly Wii controls.

In real life its much harder fireing a real gun and lets not even get into the lets up the difficulty factor when whats going past your mind is am I going to get game over from a bullet today.

Oh and last but not least is the pucker factor of walking past a vehicle and wondering if its going to be nothing or if that vehicle is going to turn you into a crisspy critter.

Never a dull moment in some places, folks.

Mp3 does look very creative and good, but not everyone likes the direction. A lot of folks in GAF were disappointed with MP3, though I think some are weird saying they got to the last boss but got so bored with the back tracking they just quit playing and followed up with saying they would never finish it. Bizzare!

Actually pointing at the screen is more like real shooting. Rotating analogs just makes you look worried. Button mashing is dead.

i agree. the Wiimote is 100 x more intuitive than any other controller.

sure, the 360 controller is the very best dual analog controller when it comes to console shooters. but the dual analog controller is a weird piece of equipment to begin with.

It's not intuitive at all. (yes people, our brain adjusts and is able to get used to ANY type of control.... doesn't mean it's intuitive).

The wiimote lives up to it's promise in MP3.

[QUOTE="mushroomscout89"][QUOTE="lordlors"]

[QUOTE="7CloudStrife7"]After playing cs on a computer I honestly don't know why console fps games don't make keyboards and mouse standard, mouse can't be beat when it comes to reaction time and doesn't require auto aiming, the wiimote is a decent new way to play fps, but I got metroid in the mail Monday and I thought the controls were simply ok at best. There's no big deal really, its like playing duck hunt except you can move using the nunchuck I didn't see the big deal.lordlors

Then it's more interesting for me.

Also before you start the game go to the options menu and switch the sensetivity of the controls from Basic to Advance for more of a PC mouse like control!!!

[QUOTE="loudharley"]The controls on metroid are ok but its that damn repetative gameplay that kills it for me.Im so sick of this damn game i could throw up,going back and fourth, back and fourth, back and fourth.Im so sick of back tracking and having to go back to the same place 80 times before being able to move to something new.I spent most of the time lost.I think i was about half way through elisia before i sold it.God i really dont have the patients for this crap anymore.Just give me a simple fun multiplayer shooter that doesnt require me walking around for 6 hours looking for a damn switch and ill be happy.-Ninja_Dog-

..but the carrot and chips !

MP has always sucked and some last gen Xavix controls won't help it.

Sheep must be delusional.

No, you're delusional for thinking that a controller is more like shooting a real gun then just pointing and shooting, you've got to be kidding me.

Honestly, I can't see how console shooters can stay the same.

Everything, works, perfectly. I started the game and from the first firefight I actually could target and keep my reticule on the enemy while strafing fully. It was like, playing with the accuracy of the RE4:Wii controls, but... BUT ON METROID AND WHILE MOVING. I get urges to play it just to shoot at things. It's that pleasuring.

I know technically it flopped here, but since when do I let one person decide my feelings on a game. The game itself is polished to the point of blindness after long exposure in the sun. The fights feel great. (Normal difficulty could be harder, but they included a harder mode that I haven't gotten to as of late) The puzzles are still challenging and actually like, fun to see the results of. Graphics are shiny and still feel really good. (I really don't care about how my games look past being able to tell pixels apart.)

Anyway, onto the point of the thread.

Mircosoft cannot ignore this. The Wii controls are accurate to the point where non-gamers might be able to actually play well. (Assuming they can deal with strafing and pointing. This is hard for non-gamers.) I'm going to guess by 2010 Mircosoft will have to come up with a similar IR system, or something that rivals the Wii's accurate, intuitive pointing system. No amount of good gameplay can make up for knowing that there is a better control scheme on a "inferior" console. Honestly if there is a multi-platform FPS on the Wii and Xbox360, 360 owners won't have a snowballs chance in hell.

mushroomscout89

What you fail to realize: Marksmanship is a skill. When non-gamers can be good at it, is when I'll never want to touch it. Competitive shooting is about who's the better aimer. That's why being a good smiper in Halo is something special. The fact that it's a bit harder to aim makes the game more challenging, not less fun. Poopy head :P

I agree completely. The controls are silky smooth, scanning things are easy, and non-shooting actions work fluidly.

Question though: do you play with the sensitivity on normal or advanced?

Agreed. Console shooters are witness to yet another revelation, just like the dual analogues back in the day.
