[QUOTE="Lable1985"]Hopefully. It'd be nice to see bungie make something else that isn't a generic shooter wouldn't it.LucidJubilation

More Jaded than anything else :PThis topic is locked from further discussion.
Halo games will continue after Reach. The question is will they be good or not. I'll be fine with either outcome. If they're bad, I won't play them and I'll stick with Reach. If they're good, well I'll play them.
until they start going back to the drawing board with it.....no imho. since halo 2 halo has been suffering the same problem that zelda TP suffered from...the formula is getting stale.osan0
Since Halo 2? I didn't think it was getting stale until after the trilogy, when they released ODST. I expected the trilogy to play out pretty similar except continuing the story, new levels, weapons, vehicles, and improved multi-player, which I think they delivered on pretty much as expected.
A new developer taking over after Reach could however take Halo into a completely different direction and correct any staleness.
Oh, and I think TP is the only Zelda game that played too much like a previous Zelda game too, that's why it seemed like the same old. They usually change it around a lot, like with MM and WW, but TP was kind of just a new OoT.
WTF? 343 Industries has:
Frank O'Connor - creative force, ex-bungie, the man behind Master Chief
Corinne Yu - lead technical, goddess of tech, ex-Gearbox, ex-Ion Storm, etc
Kenneth Scott - lead art, ex-ID softwareDoom3
Ryan Payton - producer, ex-Kojima, produced MGS4
Yep, I'd say they have mediocre trash on that team :P
Ok, I'm very aware of 343 and that they will take control of halo after reach. However I don't think u realize how extremely picky halo fans are!!!!! I doubt that some ex bungie employees will make up for the entire creative bungie staff. There is a reason why developers want to work with bungie so badly, they are an extrodinary group of people an I absolutely doubt 343 can be up to par. Comparing 343 and bungie is exactly the same as comparing treyarch and infinity ward. Just like treyarch, ibthink if 343 really REALLY trie they could make a decent halo game, but it can't beat the superior bungie work just like treyarch can hardly be seen as superior to infinity ward..........so basically 343 will at most be the treyarch of halo, andnthat isn't neccesarily terrific to meWTF? 343 Industries has:

Whoa..that is a nice team indeed. In fact - that's a bloody fantastic team that MS has managed to grab.WTF? 343 Industries has:

I kinda hope it does. I love me some halo, but honestly, it gets to the point where it starts to lose its relevence.

As much as people have joked about HaloKart racing, or DDDR Spartan edition, there are genre branches that Halo is suitable for adaptation. I said long before Halo Wars that the Halo universe was a good for for RTS. I even had this idea for a Halo RPG.
The most notable change in formula would be weapons that have stats to them, so damage and accuracy could be upgraded as you trade up on different models of rifles and shotguns. The way you play the game would be impacted by how you allocate points to strength, health, the different modes of combat skills (ranged as well as unarmed), and even intelligence and charisma (for commanding troops in some of the scenarios) will play a role. Of course as you level up, you'll determine how you develop your characters stats and skill sets, in the different weapon proficiencies, driving skill, vehicle jacking, melee combat, shield system (the strength and recharge time), and maybe even computer hacking. Expect a cIass system to differentiate ability types and play styIes for different sets of stats, focused on specializations in demolitions, hacking, assault mastery, leadership traits, long range combat, close quarters styIe, and what not.
I imagine this to take place in the earlier years when the Spartan program was newly developed, and you're the latest graduate about to enter service. This would be how you start out small and grow your strengths in the course of the game. I even had the idea at the beginning you get to choose from 1 of 3 AI's that becomes bonded to so, so its a permanent choice in the beginning. Apart from having different personalities, each offering you different types of bonuses to one set of stats or another, and then later after reaching a level milestone, unlocking additional unique skill or two that you can only have with her as your partner AI.
Also with this being much more story and choice driven than your typical shooter, I would like to see a dialog system similar to KOTOR and Mass Effect. And of course, moral choices must be on the menu too - saving a caravan from mercenary attacks, or sacrificing them so you can follow the mercenaries to their source; following UNSC orders, or going rogue; helping isolated colonies, or pillaging their supplies for your own needs; hell you may even find yourself being persuaded to seeing the Covenant's religious viewpoint and joining them
this is gonna be the 6th halo game to come out. what makesyou think that its just gonna die after reach>???? there may not be another halo game on the 360, but once m$ makes a new console,, ill put money on it that there selling point will be NEW HALO WIth ALL COOllzzzz Graphics.. no there rly is, people used the forge to map a track, before people would just have points on the map, and people could only travel by vehicles. it is fun. there is also kinda gold, where you can make the map where you have to get a ball in the whole. and cant forget grif ball. its amazing what people did with a FPS
You think Microsoft is going to let their most popular and successful franchise die? :?
There are plenty of genres Halo can branch out to. Action/Adventure/RPG whatever. It's entirely possible.

Don't you mean Saiyans? :DI most certainly will NOT reference godawful anime :P
But to be fair, Activision are only publishing the games - they have no creative control...and it's not like Bungie rely on them to prop them up, they're a proven talent.Activision + Bungie = Mega Milkage

Heck I'm hoping to see some Halo related stuff from 343 Ind in a couple weeks at E3. :D
Activision + Bungie = Mega Milkage
But to be fair, Activision are only publishing the games - they have no creative control...and it's not like Bungie rely on them to prop them up, they're a proven talent. I cannot believe none of you know Bungie doesn't own the Halo IP, Microsoft does. After Reach, MS will most likely just recruit some other developers to create more Halo games. Please Log In to post.
