After the price drops,different skus and great games 360 still destined for 3rd

PS3 is only 6 million behind the xbox 360..by the end of the year ..that 6 million lead could vanish ..xbox 360 is destined to be the 3rd banana of the console wars this gen ,not good for xbox brand ...i for 1 will definately not buy the 360 successor due to the rrod issue this gen

360 had like one tiny price drop

I havent been coming to System wars much (to crazy for me now) but the 360 has sold like 18.5 million systems and the PS3 is at 10.5 right? Way I look at it is, no matter how you spin it Microsoft has a huge lead over a competitor who has in the past dominated. Considering the PS3's heavy hitters are coming up it is true Sony is going to get a big boast but compared to last gen microsoft seems to be doing pretty well (in either case for Sony to go from selling like how many PS2's? exactly that what i hate most about sony fans everything that they say is bad about 360 is a problem that the ps2 had but it wasnt a problem then they only notice things that happen to other consoles because i clearly remember going through 3 ps2s because of crappy dvd drives, crappy online, 2 controller port, no HDD, and more but no none of that stuff ever happened to fanboys.

a giant in the industry ??? how can 360 be a giant if it had a 10m unit lead over the wii and it disappeared in 9 months and wii leading it w/ more than 5 m worldwide ,maybe you mean 360 as a giant of bad publicity which are all legit complaints due to rrod .

du you know what MS is going to do? just before ps3 passes the 360 in sales MS will kill the 360 and introduce the 720, that way they can say they dont care if ps3 passes the 360 because they are already in the next next gen

Owned an xbox too, and they had to do a massive recall on the electrical cords because the systems were setting themselves on fire, remember that?

Now I would'nt exactly put it that way. If we have learned anything this gen it's that the impossible can happen. (The Wii murdering everthing in site) I say it's possible, very possible if Sony's premier titles pull the munbers that they want them to do. Now is it likely? Dunno....

you would rather have to pay to get your console fixed than have it covered by a three year warranty?

It's funny how people have decided already which consoles they plan to buy a few years down the lane...

i, for one, think the competition is healthy for the consumer...and would rather see two fighting consoles than a single monopoly

i have a 360 right now and am happy with it.....

as for which console to buy in the next gen........i'll make the decision based on the information and scenario then....and ill advise anyone else to do so aswell.....

For a fourm that is intended to discuss which system is better, we sure do spend a lot of time talking about units sold, market share and profitability.

Nintendo and Microsoft look to be on pace to surpass the total units sold of their last generation models, Sony...Not so much.

But aside from all that, I don't care who is in first and who is in third all I want is games, lots of em and good quality ones.

I called sony a giant in the industry... and yes both MS and nintendo have taken their status down a lot of pegs, you can't deny it.

I replaced two PS2's (Both Original Models) over three years at on my own buck, whereas my RROD was covered under warrenty nearly two and a half years after the fact.

With that game Library, they seem to be the ones with the most time to ponder the future...

the 360 should be doing better then it is imho (have we got figures on 360 sales since the price drop in europe?). on paper it has an awful lot going for it. alot of great games and a great console for the money. yes theres RROD which is a problem but, on paper at least, thats the 360s only major problem.

however MS just seem to be doing nothing.....absolutely nothing.....to promote the 360. the price dropped in europe and it was up to retail stores to inform ppl of this. i dont know what its like in the states or japan but here in europe, MS activity has flatlined completly. they were a bit active during halo3s launch...and then that was it. since then nothing....nada....zip. meanwhile sony are showing adds for GT (and for once there adds didnt tote blu-ray games...were making progress) and mentioning their free online service (DING DING!!!!) and ninty continue there ever present push to keep ppls attention (now promoting pro evo on wii as well as no more heros...kudos to em).

and were wondering why 360 sales have hit a slump worldwide? it seems that MS continue to focus on the states (fair enough....its home turf) and japan (which at this stage....they may as well just burn that money...it would be more productive). meanwhile pal territories are not getting a look in by MS. if they could take europe and the states then they could still win.

but nope...they seem to have lost the plot. if things keep going the way there going then the PS3 will catch up. and if they do it wont be becuase sony pulled off a miracle (hell there just doing the basics)...itll be because MS screwed up. i have said before that nintendo was the GCs worst enemy and, if the 360 looses second place, the same could very well be said for MS and the 360.
