@mesome713: I only bought it because of the flashlight mechanic in relation to the combat, it added a bit of strategy, and I hadn't played a game with such a mechanic before.
The story is the least appealing thing about it. And Remedy always make the weirdest/dumbest stories in its games, it's kinda their trademark.
LOL its Remedy game. there gameplay has alwaays been near perfect
i know you didnot liked original AW but its gameplay was fantastic. the psychological thriller elements are very atmospheric.
AW2 set in dark world ooze atmosphere. plus with Remedies perfect gameplay help it.
Baldurs gate 3 got 10/10 which looks terrible mobile indie game.
sadly I wont be able to play AW2 until i upgrade. thats downside.
BG3 is factually GOTY (from every outlet wither they admit it or not). Even that Zelda kid couldn't defeat it.
As suspected -
While the third-person-shooting doesn’t quite keep up with the true benchmark setters of the genre, everything around Alan Wake 2, from the writing, the performances, the huge amount of scares, and the technology powering the game, is hugely impressive, and way beyond what many would expect from a sequel to a cult game from 2010.
AW1 had fantastic gameplay. and many other praising its as improved.
beside its the biggest Remedy game since Max Payne 1. worth PC upgrade.

AW1 was the game that worth Xbox 360 alone (no Halo/gears shit). if AW2 was Xbox exclusive instead of multiplat and series remain to MS. I would get Xbox alone for this.

Isn't it weird how if Epic didn't fund the game, this 10/10 wouldn't exist? Is Remedy on welfare or something? How is it that they needed somebody else to fund the game? Sony should acquire them, that's all there is to it. And MS, please stay far from Remedy. Thanks.
@kathaariancode: not really a fan of remedy. Control was meh, alan wake 1 was ok and not sure about aw2 either. Plus, GS reviews are suspect nowadays.
I played redfall and actually it's not half bad, no where near a 4. I just started it though, so who knows. I don't trust GS 10 any more, seems like BS. The metacritic scores are a bit better imo.

@uninspiredcup: Back in my day only Zelda: OOT, Soul Calibur and MGS4 had both a 10 from GS and IGN (with only a handful getting a 10 from each of them).
Now they hand out multiple 10s every single year.

@TheEroica: If The Last of Us had inferior combat mechanics, worse level design, less replayability, B-tier writing instead of S-tier writing and instead of having the best narrative in gaming it had a mediocre narrative then you are absolutely right, TLOU *is* just like AW2!

I love Control, fantastic game imo.
Redfall I gave it a chance after the 60fps update. Not horrible but very low on my priority list. Arkane is also among my top Devs and that game is not up to standard.

If they wanna be David Lynch so badly, why is the character modelled after Sam Lake voiced by James McCaffrey and not Sam Lake? I'm of course comparing with the hearing-impaired character of Gordon Cole in Twin Peaks. I assumed the Sam Lake character was voiced by Sam Lake when I first saw him yesterday.

How is it weird? That is generally how AAA development has worked for decades. Publishers are usually the ones funding the game. You are rather clueless for someone who likes to discuss games regularly.
Enjoying it quite a bit so far. Just finished chapter 1 and it's trippy.
Just started playing it and going to see how this game handles my RTX 4070. The game looks fantastic, surprising enough, I can handle staying in 1440p. I only just switched everything up to High and remained well above 60fps. I have RT on/high with DLSS set to balance and still nearly hitting 60fps.
Alan Wake 2 is going to be the next Crysis moment and 4070 is not a bad GPU, it is just Alan Wake 2 is one of the GPU-killer games around lol.
And as for Alan himself, I now call him Alan Wake Wick😅

Yeah, at 1440, i'm maintaining ~60fps with dips into the 50's with everything on max. Will play around a bit tomorrow.

Been watching a bit of doc's playthrough, and the game seem to have some great ai, and excellent build up of tension. Never seen him jump from a game as much as this one lmao.
