That has been rumored. I hope not. I would rather a different team take that on.This topic is locked from further discussion.

These are new games. And we haven't seen actual gameplay of either.
I dont think these 2 games alone are going to cut it, they better have some new IPs or there in trouble. Alan Wake i will get for sure but GT over Forza for me.djsifer01
Well, of the multiple new ip's for Sony (ie: LBP, inFAMOUS, Uncharted, etc), it doesn't seem like it has taken them out of 3rd place.
*sigh* Should 3rd place in sales matter? Oh wait... excuse me, this is SW.[QUOTE="millwrought"]

That has been rumored. I hope not. I would rather a different team take that on.But who would do it? Lionhead has zero experience with racing games, and Rare only made Banjo racing games. Their new studio BigPark? Some of the people there made Need for Speed games, they seem pretty likely if not Turn 10. And who could they farm it out to 3rd party wise? It seems like only Turn 10 could do it.

Lets hope for a lot better physical damage and better physics for the crashes, like cars rolling over, getting mangled, and even completely destroyed. I'm still waiting for a console racing sim to accomplish all that.

Does that include reversed tracks or 100 separate race courses? The former sounds realistic to me. Wow. 2 years since Forza 2, lets hope the game is in good shape, that is, if it releases this year.

No. I don't look at that at all. If Sony can make profit (which they are from those games) then it's all good. People act like PS3 games DON'T sell. They DO. They just aren't outstanding like Halo 8 million. In fact 8 million is more than outstanding. It's phenominal. And when a new Sony IP doesn't magically reach 5-8 million it's a bad thing.-----------------------
LBP - 2 million
Uncharted - 2 million
Resistance - 2 million
Resistance 2 - 2 million (almost)
Motorstorm - 2 million
Motostorm 2 - 2 million (almost)
Heavenly Sword - 2 million
All new IPs that sold GREAT.

PS3 games do sell great. The BIG seller and killer app has always been Gran Turismo. Just like Halo is for XBOX. Gears is a phenomenal new IP that's translated into killer-app status. That's something the PS3 doesn't have yet.Same here. I'm GT loyalist :P. I only play one sim and 1 arcade racer.I'm pretty excited about seeing Alan Wake, Forza 3, I don't really care about.

Gears of War on UE3.0 then came Gears 2 on UE3.5. Whoever thinks the 360 is maxxed out is wrong. Alan Wake, Forza 3, Fight Night Round 4 are just the beginning, and confirmed Gears 3 on UE 4 (not sure if it'll be on 360 or next XBOX but Gears of War is a confirmed trilogy). Alan Wake should show what the 360 can do.
It's funny, I was just looking back through my blog, which is all about Alan Wake, and you commented on one of my blogs and wondered why I was hyping a cancelled game. :pGears of War on UE3.0 then came Gears 2 on UE3.5. You know what. Now that I think about it. Those games could and would have sold upwards to Gears numbers if the PS3 was at a lower price compared to the competition. The true killer-app the PS3 needs is a price drop. Considering the quality of the games (on PS3) and it's only 8 million behind the 360 (which gained that lead with the year lead), who's knows if they didn't push millions of hardware units. Incentives are incentives. The price is the problem. So these games can be considered killer-apps.

It's not about them being killer apps. It's about them being great games. These are 4 NEW IPs that sold 2 million EACH. That's amazing. If MGS4 didn't push sales into the sky. Of course there are aspects of the game that aren't realistic, but that in no way makes it an "arcade racer". It's hard for any game to be a true-to-life simulation. Versus what, one installment? Sure Forza got slightly better scores across the board than GT4. Considering it was the only one with an online component I see why. GT4 was great, but more of a rehash. Well, some still sing the praises of GT, but the franchise has been beaten since what, like '04? Like about 5 years? I wouldn't be praising its behind the curve and outdated design decisions. Then again, Polyphony is trying to play catch up and implement things Forza and GTR had long before it.
Forza > GT4 in reviews.
Forza 2 > GT5: P in reviews.
The trend will continue. Outside of graphics, it seems Polyphony is struggling. Hell, it's been forever since we heard about GT Mobile and we still don't have it.
