No, on GameSpot, that's definitely Halo Wars.
Or Zeno Clash.

It is hands down one of the best games i have played, it is far more than what you may think, as lomng as you dont play it like you would a shooter
Isnt alan wake just Alone in the Dark but exclusive to 360? isn't Uncharted 2 just tomb raider but exclusive to PS3also.. your sig.. you know bill gates never made games[QUOTE="doobie1975"][QUOTE="Fightingfan"] Isnt alan wake just Alone in the Dark but exclusive to 360?Fightingfan
Yes, Its just bill gates is "I-conic" for the xbox brand.
gif soup is great for sigs look at mine lol,"Even Lost Odyssey can't match it" LO is underrated?Skittles_McGeeI find it "overrated" by JRPGs fans. So I really can't say it's underrated myself. As for Alan Wake I can't say since I haven't played it yet.
Ugh, I hate the terms 'underrated' and 'overrated'. But what I will say is that I would give it a 9.0. I loved it.AnjunaddictYeah, the story is crazy and the ending gave me chills.
Still doesn't forgive the fact its only 6 hours long, and has some very bad voice acting at parts, or that some of characters felt out of place. Sure the gameplay is perfect however it doesn't forgive the fact that the game lacks a good amount of substance. If anything I'd still rate this game at an 8.8 for the gameplay alone.Lable19856 hours?? Alan Wake?? Maybe if you ran through and didn't pay attention to anything that pushed the story forward and purely ran from objective to objective. Even then I have a hard time believing you completed it in 6 hours. It took me about 14 hours to complete, and I missed about 1/5 of the manuscript pages.
It's a great game that I did rather enjoy playing. Story got a bit convoluted during the final segments of the game though.
Underrated? Probably not, but I do think it's unappreciated by many.

I wonder why that is ...
And yes i agree with the OP, one of the best games i've played this gen.
He is a cow, dont mind him but i have a few friends that have Alan Wake and say it is a amazin game and that they are glad they didn't buy RRDR:lol: I dont know about that.Errr I'm pretty sure the game's longer than that. :?[QUOTE="Lable1985"]Still doesn't forgive the fact its only 6 hours long, and has some very bad voice acting at parts, or that some of characters felt out of place. It is. I honestly don't know how people managed to finish it in 6 hours on their first playthrough. It took me well 10 hours to do so on Normal difficulty. I also didn't find all the story manuscripts, thermoses and TV shows, so there was still thing I missed out on.
Seems like many are riding on statements made by fanboys.
Alan Wake is excellent, but has quite a few draw backs. Voice acting sucks at times, the game heavily relies on nothing but run and torch/gun, majority of the game comprises of you just trying to hide under some light, or switching a generator on to get light. Overall i think it got what it deserved. Played it once, loved it, will not play it again.
Gee and I wonder why you would come to that conclusion. Do you ever try to stop being Mr. Detective and actually post your thoughts? Gets annoying when all people do is try and call others out. Anyways, I gave the game a 9. It's a pretty awesome game. It's short, but for what it is I wouldn't have it longer. It's pretty packed as it i and it works. Me likey.[QUOTE="W1NGMAN-"]The 8.5 seems like a solid score, personally I would score it a 7.9 ... it was a good game, but at 60 dollars? :/SpiritOfFire117

Judging by your previous post on the site. I really doubt you played the game or even own a 360.The game is WAAAY to short, and the story is really average, these are the dudes that made Max Payne ffs... The combat also got really repetitive, theres were too many flaws, too short, no real replay value, huge flop tbh.

How is a game that scored an 8.5 being called underrated? That's a fantastic rating. It seems that people here think anything under a 9 is crap. There isn't anything wrong with an 8.5...
With that said, I don't even think Alan Wake deserves that 8.5. The graphics are nice and the story is good but there are so many little things that just irritate me. Alan himself is such an unlikable character that I have trouble picking up the controller to continue playing because I just do not care what happens to him. It doesn't frighten me in the least because the enemies are hurt by light. "Don't worry everyone! I have a flashlight!" is almost as bad as the movie Signs' twist of the aliens being allergic to water (but yet they invaded a planet covered in their weakness). I'm playing the game on hard my first time through and I keep forgetting that; feels like I'm playing on easy. The game play is fun but it hasn't changed yet. Can anyone tell me if the game changes pace sometime? Finally, whoever was in charge of the lip syncing needs to be fired because the voice is never on and Alan Wake never shuts his freaking mouth... I don't mean he talks too much, I mean he's constantly opening and closing his mouth during cut scenes as if he were a fish.
Bad game? Not at all. Some fantastic, godly experience that deserves perfect scores and utter praise like people suggest? No.
Side note: What does score matter anyway? If you love a game why does it matter if publications rate it lower? It effects your opinion in no way.

Hmm, I don't think I said what type of horror I thought it was.
I'm guessing you mean I should take it as psychological horror and the creatures have a deeper meaning to what's going on correct? While I get that entirely it doesn't change the fact encounters are scripted and made out to look and be threatening. However, when the enemies on screen have little talent hurting me it fails to scare. I find the storyline engaging and interesting but not at all creepy or horrific.
That's entirely opinion and you can't say I'm doing it wrong if I don't find something personally scary. Furthermore, I'll say that I didn't think of that when writing my little rant. While I don't find the enemies or storyline scary I'm sure other people do. However it's in the same vein as me greatly disliking Alan Wake (the character, I like the game) and that's that reviews are opinions. Everything above is my opinion on the game but the fact remains: 8.5 is a good score.
i really enjoyed it but i agree with GS's score. while the gameplay was great it got very repetitive and it did very little to switch things up. it was just the same thing over and over and over an....you get the point. some more day time exploration would've been great as well. plus the last battle was pretty underwhelming. it was one of the most atmospheric games i've ever played and i really liked the story and presentation.
You can drop the fakeboy act. Like your flawed analysis of the Reach beta in another thread (which unsurprisingly is also on the 360) everything in your post sounds regurgitated from other people's posts, which actually brings into question whether you have actually played the game. Or if they really are legit complaint's about the game, Flaws usually have a tendency to be picked at in the gaming world by more than one individual.[QUOTE="N00bTuber"]

Gamespot gave it an 8.5. The average is an 8.3. They rated it ABOVE the average .
Accept it, the game flopped, then only a week later a Wii exclusive got AAAA and a game on the PS3 that was barely hyped got just as good reviews as Alan Wake (ModNation Racers). Bad month for the 360 no matter how you spin it.

With the crap he's been spreading, I highly doubt he'd even touch the damn game let alone play it. Come to think of it, your posting history is exactly squeaky clean either. ;) What are you the white Knight of gamespot? I was merely making an evaluation of what I have seen and witnessed as flaws myself both based in reviews and the context of gameplay. Your accusations do nothing for you sir, yes it is possible for others to not like the same thing's as you. Shocking I know.[QUOTE="Go1D"]

Instead of talking about the game in regards to the 360, why don't you just talk about the game itself? Why is it NOT underrated then?Gamespot gave it an 8.5. The average is an 8.3. They rated it ABOVE the average .
