No, this is no contest or anything. I remember renting Heavy Rain a while ago, and I liked all the myetery-solving parts of the game. It reminds me of something like Alan Wake, only without the shooting and stuff.

Now, when I look at Alan Wake, it reminds me a little of Heavy Rain.

My question: Without giving spoilers to either game, which game is better? Personally, I'm rooting for Alan Wake. I don't have it yet, but from what I've read so far it's going to be quite good.

The only bad thing about the game is that we would have to pay about 5000+ MSP to see what will really happen to Wake.

But Heavy Rain had more interactivity.

Haven't played either, and bar Alan Wake getting a PC version I won't be playing that. I'm planning on making Heavy Rain one of my next purchases, probably immediatly after summer starts, and I am quite excited to try that; one of my friends loved it.

Both seem like an even experience.

Ive only played through Alan Wake personally so all I can say is I highly recommend it, not sure which is better though.

Haven't played AW, and won't due to system constriction, but Heavy Rain was an amazing experience. That being said, as a game it might come off as wonky to some. On the other hand, AW looks by and large to be a shooter with horror elements, which could come off as stale to some.

I would say Heavy Rain would be the better purchase, as it is likely more unique in a lot of ways.

AW might be the better game in the conventional (as in what we are used to) sense, but will likely have gameplay that can be found better done elsewhere.

So, I dunno?

Heavy rain was the first game in years that when I put the controller down I just wanted to pick it right back up again and keep playing to find out whats going to happen next, there isnt much out there like heavy rain it was a real gaming treat.

You can't go wrong with this, both are amazing games and I recommend them both, but if I had to choose I would choose Heavy Rain, finish it and get Alan Wake, and then play both, but I don't think you could handle so much epicness.

But expect lemmings telling you to get Alan Wake just because its on the 360 and cows telling you to get Heavy Rain just because it is on PS3.

Heavy Rain for me since I LOVE everything that this company puts out (Indigo Prophecy etc). That being said, how can you compare these two games? They arent alike at all...the gameplay is COMPLETELY different.

its like comparing MLB 10 the show to Halo.

Alan wake looks like your standard run of the mill shooter, just set in the woods. atleast heavy rain offered something new to gaming, does every game have to be a shooter? i found it more fun fighting off the bad guys with bear knuckles and facing the consequences of actually losing and dying in the fight then going around aiming with a dot and pressing shoot. (every other game does that)

Of course just my opinion. I liked Heavy Rain, my only real complaint was the controls. So many things that could have just been done with a button push had to be done with a slide the stick this way crap. It seemed to me after a while the control spoiled the mood of the game. That being said Heavy rain for me at least was one solid play though, and an attempt at a second play though that was never finished.

Alan Wake, looks good, but if after one play through it is just the same story again then it will probably end up the same way..one play though and an attempt at another. I do like the having to shine the flash light on stuff to kill it aspect. Reminds me of Luigi's Mansion. So I guess in my opinion AW will probably be a little more fun. It looks like the action pace stays constant, so it gets my vote. I won't know for sure until I get to play it though.

Heavy Rain because it has tons of different endings and much higher replay value if you get into it, which isn't hard to do.

Heavy Rain was awesome cause it lets you see the consequences of your actions when you replay the game over and over. It made me think about decisions I have made in real life and what different outcomes could have been. Thats what made it great to me.

Not so sure about AW but I know it doesn't have as much depth.

I finished the game. It wasn't unoriginal at all. Idk what the hell you're talking about. I can't remember a game that ever had a story like that or ended like that. Ever. What the fact that its a cliffhanger? That doesn't make it unoriginal.

i haven't played alan wake yet but i think it'll probably be better than heavy rain. however this is only because heavy rain absolutely ruins itself with a horrible conclusion. for people who played indigo prophecy half the game was awesome but the it went all sci-fi matrixy multiply that times 10 and heavy rain is like that. the last forth of that game ruins the entire experience. alan wake from what i hear as solid action in it

I didn't know 4 games are many, and 2 of them being from the same developer as Heavy Rain. But shooting has been done is so many games it is not even funny, if you are going to compare Heavy Rain's with Alan Wakes originallity, you have to admit that Heavy Rain has more.

Haven't played either. Howver, I think I know what I can expect from AW, so I know I'll probably like it. HR is more unusual in terms of gameplay, haven't ever played anything like it, so with that I don't know if I'll like it. I think I will. I like most games I play actually.

Heavy Rain is the only new game I have completed this year and it was really good. Though i felt the ending(lack of QTE's fighting) took away a little from the game. I would get Alan Wake also if I owned a 360. I'm sure both are good games with some flaws just like the reviews have been pointing out.

So Miranda Lawson looks better than Madison so Mass Effect 2 is better than Heavy Rain....hmmm :D
