What? The ending to Alan Wake is DLC? Wonder how much I can get for my 360 on craigslist. Humble-AdonisMost likely, as it's to be in an episodic format.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
i haven't played alan wake yet but i think it'll probably be better than heavy rain. however this is only because heavy rain absolutely ruins itself with a horrible conclusion. for people who played indigo prophecy half the game was awesome but the it went all sci-fi matrixy multiply that times 10 and heavy rain is like that. the last forth of that game ruins the entire experience. alan wake from what i hear as solid action in it

Lulz, your decisions make the conclusion , you made the conclusion horrible
I, too, got a "bad" ending on my first playthrough. One little mistake and it's all downhill, kind of like life.

Episodic format is great, when each episode is a fraction of regular retail price. Unless, of course, each episode provides a full retail experience, which is unlikely.

How bout you play both all the way through before you make an opinion.
Heavy Rain all day, the game is waaay different from Alan Wake.
I really don't understand why people compare the two. Alan Wake's core gameplay mechanic is using a flashlight and a Gun (pretty typical)
Heavy Rain's core gameplay mechanic is 'circumstances & thier cause & effect'
No, this is no contest or anything. I remember renting Heavy Rain a while ago, and I liked all the myetery-solving parts of the game. It reminds me of something like Alan Wake, only without the shooting and stuff.
Now, when I look at Alan Wake, it reminds me a little of Heavy Rain.
My question: Without giving spoilers to either game, which game is better? Personally, I'm rooting for Alan Wake. I don't have it yet, but from what I've read so far it's going to be quite good.
The only bad thing about the game is that we would have to pay about 5000+ MSP to see what will really happen to Wake.
But Heavy Rain had more interactivity.

???? How do you know the pricing of the DL content ? Is there a link ? I though it would be for free or for 800 MSP max

Well, it COULD...but I hope each episode is at least as long as the disc is. But we would be paying about 800+ per ep.
No, they only said that the 1st episode would be free...to new buyers of the game. Besides, that's just a guess based on the amount they typically charge for expansions or big add-ons.Glad to see you once again played the game.Impress3I know the ending and i can tell you it is very un-original I know the ending of Heavy Rain and I though it was un-original so does that make it bad? Now that is good i guess, it is a bit far from .... the 5000 MSP, free = 0 MSP

And I realise there's "22 endings" (more like variations). I'm talking about the Origami Killer's identity though.

So you played the game? And Heavy Rain isn't really that unique, IP was pretty similiar. And I know for one thing HR's story hada billion plot holes, I wouldn't call that "good".

It didn't seem like he was getting anywhere in his "investigation"
what is IP?Oh, sorry lol, it's Indigo Prophecy.
I guess it depends on what you want to play. Another movie from the PS3 or another shooter from the 360.
I would say both are rentals.

oh well yeah, wasn't it made by the same ppl who made HR. and HR is the only kind of it's game this generation of consolesI wouldn't know, because one game isn't out yet.
But Heavy rain had some HUGE problems. It' still an okay game, I wish destructoid didn't do those articles, I beat the game and was happy and then read the plotholes article and my opinion lessened by quite a bit.
EDIT: It was gamesradar that did the plotholes article.
Well i would of been able to give you an honest answer but since its raining i cant go out and get Alan Wake
One is a movie inspired thriller game while the other is a TV inspired thriller game.
Take your pick, though for the money movies are usually more important to our modern society.
Is it Heavy Rain? :lol:Well i would of been able to give you an honest answer but since its raining i cant go out and get Alan Wake

no i didn't get a bad ending i got a good one what i'm talking about is the big "plot twist" towards the end of the game it so out of the blue and makes no sense and creates many plot holes and basically mean the game outright lied to you.No, this is no contest or anything. Havign played both... Alan Wake, but just remember htey are very differnt games. Not even anywhere close in gameplay.HR i would think, AW has a mediocre story. HR has a good story and is very originalKevinButlerVPYea because you actually played Alan Wake and Heavy Rain isn't as original as you think it is. HR was very similar to Seven (Freeman and Pitt) Also there Sam Lake is a better writer than David Cage. As for this topic I don't see how the games are even comparable. Alan Wake is an action Adventure title and Heavy Rain is an Adventure game (interactive movie)
