Alan Wake = underrated game?

I keep hearing more and more people praising this game, but the reviewers seem to not agree at all. 82 on MC now.

Either this game is really not so great or gamers like me should just stop looking at Metacritic scores.

Honestly I do tend to trust reviewers, but this game is really a thriller even when it comes to scores and gamers' opinions.

It'd be really incredible if this game was to go down to AE's on metacritic.

for those who played it, what's wrong with this game exactly?

Grand Theft Auto IV scored 98 on Metacritic, hence according to that site, this game is one of the best titles of all time.

it was a huge production. its not surprising its a bit underrated. that said games that get 9.5's dont really deserve it. Alan Wakes production values were through the roof so it's not surprising you are getting a top notch game at a lower review score. I think mainly people were turned off because of its length, episodic nature and lack of multiplayer. Plus the variety of enemies and wow moments isnt what it could be. That said its a very well crafted game for the scores its getting.

I've been praising it and i've played it and i'm sure i'm not the only one ...

How is it underrated ? It has more perfect 10/10 scores than 7/10 ones and vastly more 9+ scores than 8+ ones

In short, it may look underrated, becasue you look at 1/100 of reviews, but if you see the whole picture, reviewers in general loved it

Yeah I think so. I finished it last week and I think its the best game I have played this generation...hmm maybe second to Crysis overall as a whole. But the best single first play experience.

No. 8.5 seems to about right. I would have given it AAA but then again I usually give AAA score to most games I enjoy.

Imo this game is like Mass Effect 1. One of my favourite games this gen but still has some flaws. 8.5 or 9.0 is the right score for it

Do not take a reviewer's opinion as anything close to a fact.

Yes, i agree there, the problem is that i liked gameslike Lost Odyssey, AW, Fable 2, Banjo 3 etca million times better than Uncharted 1-2, Gears, Halo, MGS4, GTA4etc, which got so much higer socres and had a million times more flaws, like total linearity and repeatitive gameplay, making them all a rent at best

The Alan Wake threads are doing a pretty good job.

I laugh so hard every time that one guy posts Alan Wake scores from every publication.

i think its actually very good, but reviewers like a lot of people, expected something entirely original and revolutionary.

instead they got a very good action game with some flaws, but nothing ground breaking in any way, so they reviewed it harshly.
