You do realize there have been excellent AvP games in the past?

See what I did thar?
Very witty, not. imo the small sites are more reputable, because they are not paid off like gamespot is.The 90's called... they said you can keep that witty remark, even they don't want it anymore.
Mass Effect was an 8.5. If you've played Mass Effect 2, you understand just how much better the original could have and should have been. The original was great but highly flawed. The sequel is sublime. Kevin-V
This logic makes perfect sense, because also like Mass Effect 2, Assassins Creed 2 was a huge improvement over the first Ass Creed. That's why the sequel also scored higher than its predecessor. . . . . . . HOLD IT!
Anyway, I must of put around 3 hours into the AVP demo, and got very good at it topping the kills and reaching the 30 kill limit a few times. It takes sometime getting into but when you do it's really fun. In all honest it seems like a solid A game. I think it's worth buying, but for the right price.

Some people forget the awesome AvP game on the Jaguar. :PEr... those are widely considered to be great games. This isn't.Coming from the smae people who gave MGS4 and GTA4 a 10 and uncharted 2 a 9.5, I think I'll take my chances.

[QUOTE="biggest_loser"]Just goes to show what a load of **** IGN's reviews arefinalfantasy94No it jsut shows people have different opinions.
This. It's amusing how biggest_loser tries to insinuate that GameSpot's opinion is any more valid than IGN's.

Silent-Hal
They're Okay games at best not 10/10 Quality. Uncharted 2 was just a Re-Release of Uncharted 1 with different skins, basically they pulled an EA Sports on us and MGS4 was 70% Cutscene, and GTA4 may aswell have been a Bowling sim and yet they all got such high scores. And Seeing at how AvP isnt even out here I'm not going to pass judgement based on a Demo, which imo was pretty fun.

One of the most atmospheric games of all time for me that one. I saw this review and I wanted to cry *sniff*.

Yeah... Rebellion made that game. How the mighty have fallen. Maybe they can't deal with modern hardware or programming or something. They used to be great. Now they lost the touch. Sad. Hope they don't go out of business, for their sake.
[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"][QUOTE="finalfantasy94"]So you only play games that are 80 and above metacrtic or gamerankings? Guess watever floats your boat.InsaneBasuraI don't have the time or financial willingness to go lower. :PYou do read the reviews though right? You don't just stare at the score and use that as a deciding factor? Because that's not your "personal standards" at all.
In general I've found that games rated over 60 can be worth looking into if you appreciate the things the game does right. Maybe not at full price, but at some point. Granted 2010 is packed with high quality releases, so makes sense to prioritize. I'm skipping a bunch of games as well. Too many of them. Probably would have gotten Darksiders if things were quieter, but that's not happening.
I watch video reviews and skim over written reviews and I also take the genre into account so my personal standards are upheld, I believe.Like I said, I don't have the time nor am I willing to spend my money on said games at some point when other quality titles will be out by then. I have to prioritise instead of continuing my buying of games that I don't end up playing.
And get Darksiders.
From the second I fired up the demo i knew this game was special....special garbage that is. consolised into garbage, this game is the future of console gaming. Enjoy.IgorAntunov
Well atleat the consoles have a future. ;)
Well my roommate has a copy, and I played for several hours today. Not a good game. The controls DO suck, and it just lacks a general sense of polish. HoolaHoopMan
No your just not good at the game. I have no problem controling characters.

I do believe that's wayyyyyy above the average.
LINKMan IGN really overrated that game didn't they. Talk about wayyyyyyyy above the average :)
No, you just sound like a gamespot fanboy, 7.0 is a good score for this game and certainly fits the game more than 5.5. you probably have not even played the game anyway, or you just played it for 10 minutes and complained the controls are too hard to get used to.[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]LINK[QUOTE="789shadow"]

DUDe, it was sarcasm. How did you miss that? he said IGNs review was WAYYYYY above average. The average is 68. I think reasonably no one can say 2 points is way above average. I mean the smiley face was a dead give away and the over done "way" that I was being Sarcastic. Penalty Flag on the play.If the game is average-to-almost-decent at best, then I'm very mad at SEGA for putting Colonial Marines on hold, and quickly assembling this turd for a quick buck. I wonder how good / bad sales will be, and if they will be bad, would that make SEGA wanting to make up for it by releasing Colonial Marines, or will they cut off that game completely?Salt_The_FriesI don't think Gearbox was done with Colonial Marines, but Gearbox did want to show some info on the game. Sega being the pub of both games didn't want to take away hype from this game. Which is fine to be fair. They gave rebellion full support, its a shame rebellion doesn't have the whatever they are lacking to have lived up to the games full potential. But its scores are very love hate so it might end up doing fine for the fans.
Why is anybody suprised? Rebellion debuted with a strong title, but for the last ten years has released a handful of complete garbage titles every year. They are incompetent developers that need to be shutdown, and it amazes me that they've survived in the wake of so many cutbacks, especially with studios like Free Radical and Ensemble running over the copping block. If anything, I'm glad that they've released another POS FPS, because it puts them one step closer to the last straw.remi__0311And yet other places have reviewed the game as being decent? With current metacritic scores as being 68 for the 360, 70 for the PS3 and 78 for the PC. The user scores are also quite good as well. Just because gamespot doesn't like a game doesn't mean that the game is now officially a "POS FPS"

Just because gamespot doesn't like a game doesn't mean that the game is now officially a "POS FPS" both game informer and gamespot gave AvP a low score, but that's not the only thing they have in common, both reviews where an absolute joke in my opinion, i am going with both of Ign's reviews, as they where more in depth and actually focused a lot on how the fans would feel about the game, niether kevin v or the blogger from gameinformer talked about wether the game stayed true to the universe, which is the most important thing for a huge aliens fan like myself, so what if it doesn't play or look as good as MW2, it's not supposed to.
Oh come on Kevin, I mean, ripping out a guy's spine, how frickin' awesome is that? xD It's quite hella awesome... I even say so in the review! But imagine you are eating oatmeal for an hour, plain, no sugar or anything. Then, you get to have a bite of chocolate. The chocolate is awesome, but the oatmeal is still just oatmeal. So many shooters are nice, five-course meals with a nice flow. You know, an appetizer, maybe a salad and soup, a main course, dessert and coffee, maybe a nice glass of port at the end. This one is oatmeal, with occasional bites of chocolate.[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"][QUOTE="Kevin-V"] No... I'd say it deserves a nice, solid 5.5 ;)Kevin-V

Gearbox was busy with Borderlands so you shouldn't be mad. Now the majority of their team is working on Colonial Marines.
