like many people have stated bluray will get cheaper, the cheaper cell and the backwards compatibility thing (not sure what it is really) sony will be losing less money. then better games come out, HOME and a price cut of $100 sony could do very well.sony could also release some more colors and cut the price on some good games that been out for while.
They already had a 500 dollar model.....
Do you people even think about what you post?

It's being discontinued
For Nintendo, $200 can be a pretty magic number (remember, the PS2 took off at $200), and if the Premium becomes $299 (and maybe even has Halo 3 packed in), how sweet of a deal do you think that's going to be?Nintendo has no reason to drop its price on the Wii now, and MS is releasing a more expensive model >_> lolÂ

[QUOTE="eastside49er"]Halo 3 + GTA IV + Mass Effect + Lost Odyssey + Too Human + a price drop and I could on and on here. Lets just say I believe the 360 will dominate this holiday season rather easily.GermanShepard06
dude, no1 will hear of mass effect, lost odyssey and too human when Halo3 and gta4 come out. So u got one exclusive game and one multiplat to go with.
Well the Japanese will hear of Lost Odyssey. It one of the top 5 most hyped/wanted games in Japan at the moment and it is still more than a half year away from launching. Also since when can't you buy games that come out early in the year, later in the year? Do you honestly believe people will just go out, get Halo 3 or GTA IV, plus the system and just stop there? I don't think so, but maybe your fanboy meter tells you different?

Yep. They had a $500 and it did poorly. The PS3 is a great system, but I don't think it will sell will until $300 or so. Games only go so far when people see $599.99 in front of them at a store.Â
Yes and go out of business doing it nice. There is a reason why they can't drop the price until they figure out how to drop production costs. Already losign 200 bucks a console.JLei2k
You seriously underestimate sony. They've already figured that out, they're going to 65nm cells and removing the emotion engine. They even said that by the end of 2007, they wouldn't be loosing any money on the ps3 (If it was $600). Though I think it would be worth it to cut the price by $100 and lose ~$100, it would really help sails...

wow u guys used great logic...Yeah they had a $500 model, but it had a 20GB HDD and lacked features like SD slots and Wifi and people favoured the 60GB due to that so if they dropped the price of the 60GB version clearly it would sell better than the 20GB and even better than the 60GB version at the current price...
i doubt they drop the price $100 so soon.... home is overrated... the games may be good. but no price drop.. sony's losing lots of money (apporx. 200 ) on every PS3 sold... they will wait for a long time for a price drop.Virus214
*sigh* just read my above post...Â

Meanwhile, both the 360 and the Wii will be in comfortable profit territory. If they drop price and force Sony to follow suit, the resultant price chase could keep the PS3 from becoming profitable, much like how the original XBox was price-chased into the perpetual red. Please Log In to post.
