What gives IMO is that we have to trade in our old 360 if we want to use these new features. (in other words, spend more of our money) Personaly I'm not going to because I don't really need the HDMI. There are three different 360's to choose from now. Why the hell is there not just one? There turning gameing into the computeing market if you ask me. I can choose from so many different PC's, and I suppose in the near future I'll be able to choose from so many different 360's. (or 720's, 1080's, or whatever it will be called then. Probably the Xbox Loop!)

There are three different consoles because some people like all the goodies. And some just want the necessities too gaming. If you don't want an HDMI enabled 360 then thats fine. No one is forcing you too buy one. But at some point movie companies are going to require HDMI too enable 1080p movie viewing in your Hi-Def movies. Now the option is availible for those who want it.

I bought a Premium at Launch, I wanted an HDMI and that 120GB of space, what am i gonna do? buy he elite version? I must be retarded todo that.

Price of Premium at launch = Price of Elite

The Premium was 400 at launch. What can i tell you? If your not willing too buy an Elite, then you don't want those options very badly. Your premium will play games the same as the Elite anyway.

Would i buy the Elite? I might, i'm not for sure yet. I dont own an HDTV so it's not a real good investment for ME. But i might get it if my gamestop has a trade in deal.

But Microsoft sure does try.swaginator

They've tried three times with the 360 as far as I can tell. But will the elite be the last try? Core, Premium, and now Elite. Whats next the Master Chief edition with HD-DVD playback? Systems have always been rereleased, but never with new features. That is the problem with the Elite. I can't buy a HDMI port for my premium edition. The only way is to spend more money. But appairently for you thats okay.

I can see why some people would be angry. But, this is what people have been asking for, for 2 years now. And they get it, and now all they is bash it.

They didn't get the whole package. If 360 did it right then we would be discussion a whole new story. You don't have to be a tech head, but if you walk into a store and say you can get a blu-ray player for $20 more people will eat up that $500 PS3. There people who don't think HDMI is not needed, so the Elite will not be bought. Do you see the bad move MS did? Its clearly a failed strategy.

The only reason the Elite was created was for casuals or people fairly new to the gaming scene. See it is kinda of like psychological warfare, if I new to the gaming scene and didn't know the technical mumbo jumbo. What would I select ? An Xbox 360 Elite, with a 120 GB harddrive. Or a PS3 with only 60gb harddrive for 119 dollars more ? It kinda undermines the PS3. Only because people talk of the PS3 accompanied by harddrrive size. In the real world. That means parents, grandparents, casuals, prospective new buyers, etc...

Well it's not like you can't still play all the Xbox 360 games. All your missing out on is HDMI, which really isn't that big of deal unless your a big movie buff. Do you own a PS3?

A 46 inch 1080p HDTV. That is why I'm getting plenty of use out of my PS3. Because It was built for HD stuff. At first, 360 wasn't. It was a gameing console. (and it's still the better of all the gameing consoles) But now it wants to be more. And that is pretty clear with the Elite edition. Suddenly M$ feels they need to be full 1080p? I'm not buying it. To me M$ is showing weekness by now trying to compete with full HD content that has already been availble on the PS3 from the start. I think it's a bad move this early in the consoles life. It's like when the Wii's controler was first shown. A short while after Sony announces there Sixaxis. Ya, good job Sony and M$.

Tell that to most people buying Ipods. It's marketing... and actually selecting a good hamburger/cheeseburger can be an involving process. Do I go for flame broiled ? Do I want real meat ? Poundage ? Cheese ? Pickles ? Tomatoes ? What kind of bun... sour dough, white bread, sesame seeds ? Do I settle for the boca burger ?

They've tried three times with the 360 as far as I can tell. But will the elite be the last try? Core, Premium, and now Elite. Whats next the Master Chief edition with HD-DVD playback? Systems have always been rereleased, but never with new features. That is the problem with the Elite. I can't buy a HDMI port for my premium edition. The only way is to spend more money. But appairently for you thats okay.

Do you have an HDTV with HDMI?

A 46 inch 1080p HDTV. That is why I'm getting plenty of use out of my PS3. Because It was built for HD stuff. At first, 360 wasn't. It was a gameing console. (and it's still the better of all the gameing consoles) But now it wants to be more. And that is pretty clear with the Elite edition. Suddenly M$ feels they need to be full 1080p? I'm not buying it. To me M$ is showing weekness by now trying to compete with full HD content that has already been availble on the PS3 from the start. I think it's a bad move this early in the consoles life. It's like when the Wii's controler was first shown. A short while after Sony announces there Sixaxis. Ya, good job Sony and M$.

But look at it from there perspective. When you have hundreds of thousands of fans telling you they want something. You want too please them. Your machine still works, and it still plays games. HDMI isn't that big of deal. I wouldn't loose any sleep over it.

I'm not loseing any sleep over it. Remember, you're the one who asked "what gives?" What type of answer were you expecting?

I'm trying to figure out why people complain about something, and then when they get it, it still isn't good enough.

Exactly I really don't see how lemmings got owned, cows did though cause now after all that complaining about the 360 with a small hdd and no hmdi, now it has it so... tchbo, not the lemmings...

you right we pissed because we didnt have this choice a year ago, I dont think anybody would of minded if all three was available at launch or a couple more years down the road but since it was not the whole thing is a mess, first, the hdd itself is too much on its own, its better to just get the new 360 now, second, you dont change the system and contradict yourself at the same time, it made all arguments that ps3 made to justisfy its price right and M$ rushed the console out the gate. The only thing 360 really has right now is games, which will change soon This expensive hdd wont improve loadtimes or use in games because M$ was too cheap to give the core system hard drives, and devs have to make for the core nothing more nothing less, thats why ps2 hdd failed you cant make stuff thats not standard with the system components in the beginning. so you basically thought you was good with the premium and you wasn't it wasn't the "best" deal.

They were complaining because they didn't have it (obviously) But we didn't think M$ would release a whole new system with new features. That is why people are complaining about the Elite. A new black 360 with 120 HardDrive would have been fine and none would have complained. (other then those who just really wanted a black one) But Elite has something premium/core doesn't. You say "when they get it". We don't get anything unless we buy a whole new Xbox. In there lies the problem. Can you not see how that can be painful for people who already own one?

Yes i do. But everyone should be thankful that they are given the opportunity to own an Xbox 360 with these features now. Microsoft listened and gave fans what they wanted.

Still aint got wifi, still aint got a next generation disk drive used for games and movies, still ain't got a web browser or OS, ...and you are still required to pay for an online service.

So in the end....the new 360 is still a far cry for being equivalant to the PS3 and you'll still have to pay almost the same thing for less. All the lemmings who called the PS3 a ripoff who are now defending this new xbox is selfowned.

But it comes at an expensive cost to previous owners. That is why people are comlaining. Nuff said!

I give up, swaginator barely understand my argument, instead he pushes his.

Bottom line is i bought 20GB HDD for $100

then later MS released Elite version where there is 120GB HDD that is only $80 more than the Premium price.

I bought Premium at launch (Canada) for $499 at best buy and later on 20GB wasnt enough so I decided to buy another 20GB extra for 100 bucks, thats $599 all together (40GB)

Then MS released an elite version with 120GB that is only 80 bucks more compare to Premium.

this is the best and the easiest way for me to explain myself and why I am pissed. and yes I want the HDMI for my HDTV and yes I do have a PS3.
