Let me first clear this up: I find rumble incredibly obnoxious. Immersion? A shaking controller in your hands gives you immersion?

How about a slap in the face? How immersive would that be? So now I need to endure a standard controller with extra weight that shakes all over the place. Well, I can always turn it off. I can't turn the heft off, but I can turn the throttling effect off. Well, then, I'm rewarded with a $5 surcharge for this technology I've been aching to get rid of.

For your information, my Playstation 2's rumble is OFF at all times. Upon playing with my HELLSYEAH S CONTROLLER FOR THE XBOX! I got to experience rumble again (which I can't turn off) and was immediately confused at the suggestion that a controller without rumble isn't worth a damn. Rumble is teh suck. Equals obnoxious. Equals dumb. Get rid of it.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to ask, can you actually turn rumble off on the Dualshock 3?

Looks like my next spare controller is going to be the $30 battery operated and extremely slick Logitech PS3 controller.

You can turn off rumble in the controller settings menu, so relax.

Rumble can be useful in games but usually it's there to tell you something exploded near you.

Most people don't notice it anyway, like you said just turn it off, I prefer the extra weight to be honest, I always hated the old PS1 controllers with no weight in them, feels cheap, like your just holding a bit of plastic.

Am I allowed to be annoyed at the $5 surcharge and meaningless extra heft?

Probably as soon as they come out....all I know for sure is that the Metal Gear Solid Bundle, which comes out June 12 with the release of MGS4, has a DS3.

If your that interested in $5 you would have found out about bargain shopping, and shopping online a long time ago. The DS3 has been on ebay for LESS than $50 for a long time now

But I can live with it.. I dont even bother turning it off, doesn't add anything, doesn't really ruin anything..

I guess it eats battery though..

well first of, it has rumble. Secondly, from what I can tell from my Import one, The sticks are Steardier and the controller jsut feels more well put together.

I don't like rumble, I made that clear. Go ahead and tell me that it is a much better controller IN YOUR OPINION.

As far as the build quality, that's extremely good to hear.

The Dual Shock 3's analog sticks are more sensitive, and even with rumble the battery lasts LONGER than the sixaxis

I'm buying 2 DS3 controllers for friends that stop by to play, but I'll still use the Sixaxis controller because I like the light weight of it. Being primarily a PC gamer, rumble really does'nt matter to me, but some of my friends can't seem to play a game without it.
